Just curious, because some people are claiming that they are old weapons that wouldn't last two days in a real conflict.
Are infantry obsolete? Or are they still relevant?

Do houses still need to be cleared?
>>30262549
The infantry will never be obsolete. It has already been claimed that they are, and by 'already' I mean it has been claimed after literally every war until about now when we have come to our senses.
This is a good book on the exact subject, the beginning is about the consequences of 'the infantry is obsolete' thinking.

>As University of North Carolina physicist Mark Gubrud told Defense One:
>The real limit is how much energy per shot you can deliver to the projectile and sabot without destroying the rails too fast. All that plasma that you see when the gun erupts, that's material from the rails and sabot being vaporized at the sliding contact, unlike a powder gun where the barrel isn't much eroded and the flame is from the propellant...

you know that the hypersonic shockwave and the air-trail alone behind the round will turn steel into paper, right?

fascinating strawman, the article glosses over the current barrel life of existing guns and railguns
Well /k/ when you go shooting do you prefer going alone or with friend(s)? Do you prefer going with friends and end up going alone? Or vice versa?
I always shoot with friends, but tomorrow will be my first time going alone. I need to improve my skills with my AR, my groupings are far too large for what I'm aiming for. What am i in for? Is it funner or boring alone? I'm going for the sole purpose of honing my skills.
> pic unrelated
>>30262422
I tend to shoot with friends. It can make the trip to the range more enjoyable (40ish min for me) and any down time at the range as well.
But it is nice to go alone every once and awhile. Especially if you have the range to yourself. You can shoot at your pace and no one is there to stop you.
>>30262422
You can definitely take your time more when you're by yourself at the range. If you enjoy shooting its still fun alone.

Are the ATF really a bunch of jackbooted thugs? Or do they really mean well but they're just incompetent overall?
Hey ATF!
shoot any good dogs lately?
dont forget to shoot yourself!
I wonder if this will affect the Clinton investigation in anyway. If they recommend Clinton indicted, people will just say that they are incompetent and their opinion discarded.

There was that time they rented a retail space, turned the retail space into an illegal gun store breaking the wall of the building and modifying the wiring to install cameras, then proceeded to have all the guns in the store, and their own full funs stored in their vehicle out front stolen with no camera footage of the theft. Then then refused to pay rent on the store, or pay for the damage they caused to the retail space when modifying the building for the sting because they are the law.

Jesus, seriously? The P64 is "massive?"

Beretta Pico is a good choice Y/N?
So I'm pretty set on buying myself a Palmetto PTAC Upper receiver and getting a mil spec Bolt Carrier Group and a Bravo company Ambidextrous Charging handle.
I hear a lot of negatives about the PTAC upper.
My Price range is about 550 for the rifle not including accessories.
Moving on to optics, I think I'm gonna get a Eotech 512, thoughts, /k/?
That's laughable.

I can't really tell since if this is in russia chechnya then it's plausible, but the smoke arising from the two could be detached grenade fuses.

I have a recommendation. Start using your right hand.

Personally I enjoy air rifles, they're much cheaper to shoot and you can use them to practice marksmanship. But how does /k/ approach air rifles?
>>30262212
What do you mean by approach? I like my air rifle, use it to shoot rabbits and it is cheap.
>>30262383
I mean by do you like them or not.
>>30262485
Well yes otherwise I would not be using it.

It's a basic AR but it's solid. Good purchase.

What do you recommend for attachments? I'm a novice when it comes to guns.

It popped up on slickguns and seemd like a good buy. I've been wanting a long gun for a while now.

Police departments don't need military equipment. Wearing a combat helmet is just provocative.
>>30262127
they dont need combat helmets tho
>>30262279
Yes. Peaked cap will do nicely. It's not like police officers would ever get shot at. Protective military equipment is for soldiers only, not for valor stealing cops.
>>30262127

>they stand outside with their mrap for 3 hours before finally going in and accidentally shooting more innocent people

Does anyone hunt with a Mosin?
I'm thinking about doing Elk with a Mosin and I was wanting to know would it be worth it. I was either going to do that or a Savage Axis
>>30261553
I hunt with my mosin. It's just fine for it. I got some handloaded magnum rounds that will probably kill a bear.
If you're super poor, a mosin is better than a savage axis because you can at least use the iron sights and don't have to get some glass.
And we really need to update that picture.
Anyways can anyone recommend a decent pistol for under 250?
Rate my 250€ purchase.
>>30261575
Single or double stack? I found a CZ52 for $150 it shoots 7.62x25 which isn't too bad to buy. It was kinda beat up but worked fine and you can also upgrade them with a better firing pin and rollers.
