I hate how in some videogames like Fallout increasing your skill with guns makes the guns themselves stronger. I also never understood how two guns of the same caliber could cause different damage. How would you make a gun skill work and how would gun attributes be handled in your game /k/?

>I also never understood how two guns of the same caliber could cause different damage
muzzle velocity
>>27912985
I agree with your first point, but for the second one you can just blame it on barrel length/quality.
>>27913002
>>27912994
There has to be some better way to represent damage though.
Can we get a nope thread here on k?

Uh-uh.
Looking for a subcompact semiautomatic for CC. I've had a couple people point me towards the keltec pf9. Is this a good buy?
I didn't know they had a "blood in my stool" colored frame
i wouldn't buy a keltec its literally jam central

I always thought of it more as "Three day old melted chocolate bar in my pocket."
So /k/
Whats stopping me from buying this conversion, then using .45acp brass to reload .460rowland?
Same bullet diameters, just a higher chamber pressure, which wont be a problem with the converted barrel.
The case length is .15" longer on .460r brass to keep people from fireing it through a low pressure barrel.
The bullet for .460r is seated deeper, so same c.o.l.
I cant find thr problem, what am i missing? Why is .460r brass a thing?
>>27912829
I'd be concerned about blowing cases, suspect .460 Rowland has thicker walls and a thicker base than .45ACP.
>>27912843
But the same dies are used for resizing.
Dosent that mean its the same thickness? Else it wouldnt fit right?
.460 brass has a MUCH thicker case web. The primary reason its longer is to recoup the powder volume, being too long to chamber in a .45acp pistol is a secondary benefit.
Keep in mind .45super uses the exact same brass as .45acp but will kb many .45acp pistols, and .460 isnt that much hotter.
So I just learned that these are now non-restricted in Canadastan. Should I get this or an SKS? It would be my second rifle, I currently own a bolt action Winchester .22 from the 60s. Also, can someone that owns one tell me the pros and cons and where to find one?
>>27912827
You can only get them used right now they hover around 1000cad.
Most of them were banned a while back then unbanned so dealers have yet to import more.
An updated CZ958 should be coming in a month and is better if you want to mount optics.

So how many people here actually own a plate carrier? Do you have plates for it?
What do they call things like the IOTV that's a soft armor system that can also carry plates?
Are there better alternatives to the IOTV?
Are plate carriers common in the military at all, or do they mostly use the IOTV?
What are some affordable body armor options for civilians?
>>27912806
>What do they call things like the IOTV that's a soft armor system that can also carry plates?
Armor carrier.
>Are there better alternatives to the IOTV?
Yes. IOTVs are fucking horrible. Eagle CIRAS is something I personally have worn and know is better. Sure there are plenty others.
In fact, I'd rather wear an IBA again than wear an IOTV.

I miss the IBA, why did they switch to IOTV again? For the females?

What makes the IOTV so bad?
is Karambit legal in the US? asking for self defense, don't wanna to spent money on hand-gun.
>>27912744
It depends on state/county laws
you dont bring a knife to a gun fight, kid
>>27912766
Well maybe if you read some game theory you wouldn't have escalated shit to the point that you got mowed down with a tommy gun, you old mic.
So I'm looking for my first handgun. Preferably a 9mm for home defense and possibly conceal carry. My budget is $500.
Help me out /k/

Why do people keep doing this?

Glock 20 in glorious 10mm. I CC mine, but that's with a shoulder rig and I'm a big guy at 6'4" 240, so CC may not be as easy for you, but it can be done. As far as for general defense the 20 is a great gun, but if you're going for strictly home defense get a Mossman 500 for around $300 and spend the rest on ammo and accessories.

Thinking about getting a Surefire XC1 to throw on my CCW, Glock 19. I like it because it appears to add next to null weight and print to the Glock, but was hoping to get a few answers from my /k/omrades.
1) How is the XC1? Worth the cash? Does it add more print than I'm expecting?
2) Is there a better light at a similar size?
I will also obviously need a new holster to accommodate the light. My current holster is the Blade-Tech Nano: http://shop.blade-tech.com/index.php?cPath=1_13_16#.Vkuxr7_p9qB
I'd like the new holster to be similar. The features I require...

no.
>mojo riser
makes the clip stick out from the holster more basically, which increases printing. also the clip comes bent away from the holster to push the holster into your body, which also increases printing. I love my g-code but the clip and mojo riser are fucking grade a retarded. I boiled my clip and bent it to me almost straight. i dont know why the fuck they design the clip like that.

With a little looking I can find it for $270. Might be able to find it for cheaper with a little more, and Black Friday/Cyber Monday ARE coming up. What price would you pay for it?
Hey /k/. What's the best game to simulate air combat these days?
As a kid I remember learning about planes/choppers and their weapons not from books or TV, but by playing games like TFX, Chuck Yeager's Air Combat, or B-17 Flying Fortress.
Last sim game I bought was Falcon 4.0, but... I never played it, as it required joystick, and mine broke.
So, what would you recommend to look at?
>>27912449
Are you planning on getting a stick? Because you really should.
BMS is very good once you get it running, and some of the modules for DCS do a pretty good job of simulating their planes. Flaming Cliffs is a good light Sim setup if you're just starting out.
>>27912511
I want to get HOTAS Warthog.
>>27912449
Nothing beats DCS
There's also Rise of Flight, for your wood and canvas shenanigans
What are some good foods for sneaking at the range?

/k/ from a realistic standpoint exactly how much money would the Diamond Dogs need to be able to fund their own Private Military as well as their Mother Base in the game? Tried asking this in /v/ but was met with epic memes.
In phantom pain they with one tiny oil rig in the middle of the ocean and small staff of talented mercenaries. They would need millions if not billions to keep this place up and running right?
Billions upon billions upon billions. A single blackhawk helicopter costs 21 million dollars. The maintenance cost is easily another million every year.
>>27912157
They'd pay for it with foreign contracts
>>27912157
Deepwater rigs cost between $600 million and $650 million, the least exspensive ones still run around $200 million.
Given that that looks like multiple platforms connected, its going to be more than $200 million.
Fuck knows what the rest costs.
>M3 AK PMAG is here
Where are yours, /k/? Why don't you have the best AK mag, ever?
because aks have been obsolete for quiet some time

Probably swimming in a pool full of tears with regards to how virtually every single gun control measure proposed in the past several years has had the opposite intended effect of spurring people to purchase firearms and states to strengthen (pro) gun laws.
