ITT - We come to a consensus on what Ballistol smells like.
I'll start-

smells like my box
Smells like flowers that were shat on.

>shuddering at the memory of having bought a can of this once

rancid fat, if a car battery could have fat
Why is the 12 g recommended for bear defense when slugs have such terrible accuracy and trajectory? I would rather use a scoped rifle even if it was chambered for something low powered like 308.
>>30523282
If you manage to miss a bear then just lay down and get eaten.
Because you don't typically defend yourself from bears 200 yds away.
>>30523296
I doubt any of us here can be accurate with a slug at a moving target 30 to 50 meters down. With a zeroed scoped rifle, it would be quite different. A freaking sks would be better for bear defense than a 12 g imo.
What does /k/ think of a Taurus Millennium G2 as a first handgun?
I'd rather buy a high point than a Taurus

Birthday is in August and I didn't get a Father's Day gift from the wife except an awesome meal. I know she won't surprise me with anything for my 25th birthday so I might as well buy this shit at 4:30 when I get paid.
I'm just going to let her bitch and moan while I'm drooling over my Slr's new tacticool halal shit
It's your money, nigger. While you're at it, buy me some too please?

Bet your ass if you don't get her shit for her birthday you'll be sleeping on the couch.

I have that set up except with an addition of the PA dot sitting on an American Defense quick release mount. Sits solid as fuck. Couldn't be happier.
Is super sonic speed necessary? Wouldn`t some transsonic fighter with good missiles and radars would be able to defend the airspace of a small country?
>>30522952
>local country's air force destroyed by a single MiG-31
>>30522952
Depends on what "small country" you're referring to, but if it's strictly for defense, SAMs are the best option.
SAMspamâ„¢ is best if your country is really small.
If nothingfancy was ever in an real active shooter scenario do you think he would actually rise to the occasion and move toward the sound of gunfire or would he make a quick escape on his adventure xootr and make a 3 hour long youtube video justifying his decision to run?

/k/, it's been 3 weeks since i picked up my AK and he hasn't killed anyone yet. today i even left him by the front door with extra food.
is everything ok? should i be worried?
Have you tired taking him out for a walk
>>30522812
>>30522812
Are you feeding him American ammo or com bloc surplus? You have to feed him what he needs OP, American ammo just won't do for very long.
They're too big to fail, there's barely any competition anymore in-nation, and the designs being produced seem pretty "safe" & lacking ambition or vision.
Not to mention it's not easy to get rid of things we no longer need, because "Muh Jobs".
Is it any wonder we struggle to adjust to changing paradigms, when our industries are largely configured to fight previous styles of conflict?
This is how it works in all military industries though.
There will never be more than maybe three companies in a given country capable of fulfilling most contracts, because it's a specialized field, and you need extremely high unit numbers.
Complete deregulation will allow the people to design arms again.
Almost nothing you said is true.
Can we get this stickied?
I knew IOs were crap. I've read the meme just like all other anons.. But this is just disturbing. I feel bad for all the panic buyers grabbing an IO.

Oh shit.
You dun fucked up.
CaliFag Here,
1) I know I can't have 10+ magazines after 1/1/17 anymore but what about 10/30?
2) Will it be legal to bring bullet button weapons into CA after 1/1/17?
3) Is there a new registry for my AR or am I all good if I have it already registered in CA?
>>30522384
Why do you oblige them?
Don't register your weapons and get the fuck out.
>>30522384
Assuming compliance.
1) 10/30 should be fine.
2) No, technically bringing one in you'd have to reg them via form you send to the CA DOJ along with a check for 19$. You could have one that is compliant with the new laws at that time, but the AW registration period that's coming up is strictly for rifles bought or built before 2017 to be registered before 2018.
3) Yes, there's a new registry. Your rifle is registered to you as a normal firearm if bought after 2015(?) but not an AW. Under the...

Not OP, however I'm curious to know what they're going to do if I just keep the bullet button on it and not say anything. Like, how are they going to know if I put a magazine lock on it or not? They going to check the registration of every ar15 owner and go door to door and make sure they have a magazine lock?
Do 9 inches barrels exist for the Glock 19?

How did tank crews deal with fumes before bore evaporators were a thing?
>>30522269
Bore evacuators.
And they dealt with it by having the hatches open and not being little bitches.
Can I get a real answer from someone who actually knows what they're talking about?

What does /k/ think of making older guns more suitable for modern times?
Example:
>Pic related.
>>30522236
>STGW 57
>Tacticooled
A pox on whomever did this, may their children and their children and their childrens children suffer for this affront
>>30522259
It looks awesome.
I can't understand people like you.
You actually look at that gun and say "oh wow it's so awful that someone made it BETTER".
>>30522236
The design paradigms and in fact the designs themselves are usually very impractical compared to their successors and when you start changing things to make them "more suitable" you have a Ship of Thesus situation.
Also, "converting" older weapons is destroying history and people who do it should be fucking castrated.
What is the best chambering for 1911 and why is it .38 super?
Pros:
>inherently more accurate than .45
>can carry 9+1
>flatter trajectory than .45
>higher velocity than .45
>can be loaded up to .357 magnum levels
>predictable and smooth recoil
cons:
>too expensive for /k/
>muh 45 super
enjoy reduced capacity
>muh semi rim
implying this is even a problem.
Holy shit youre a raging faggot.
Pistols are should be last line of defense and the only round you need, is .45 all american
>>30522335
>implying .38 super isn't American.
>>30522180
i wanted to get into 1911's on the cheap so i got a taurus pt1911 9mm. so far through 5k or so rounds its only had a couple bobbles with ejecting weak ammo. and imo 9mm is better than 38 super given modern bullets and +p loads
