Just out of curiosity, what's the quickest way to become a mercenary? Would they train you or do you need military experience? What's the pay like? What's the practical difference between "legitimate" companies and shady one? If anyone has any experience with mercenaries I'd like to hear about it
Modern PMCs generally only take guys who served in combat roles in combat zones. There is currently a glut of ex soldiers looking to do the work, so they can pick and choose.
Back in 2003-2006, there wasn't though. Guys who did a tour in iraq and then got out or even security types who had never deployed could get hired on to a PMC, because the US Gov was hiring them like crazy. It was really a golden time if you wanted to get your foot in the door with little or no experience.
These days, however, there's plenty of infantry types with two, three or even...

Could you tell me more about Kurdistan and fighting renegade causes like that? I'm more interested in the shadier side of things as it's (mostly) for a novel I might write although I am looking for adventure/an interesting way to pay my way through college. What about Africa? Africa during the late cold war was the truly wild west; anyone could be a mercenary and if you were skilled enough and were with a good group you could topple local governments at will and install whoever you wanted; anyone could...

look up the book "Manual of the Mercenary Soldier" by Paul Balor.
To be in a PMC where you're going to have a weapon you need Mil or LE experience.
To be a merc/soldier of fortune you need to go to some real shithole countries.
No one is going to give you on the job training, they'll only provide training to keep your skills maintained.
You can pay for training at Academi and a few other places. Depending where and who you are you might be able to get training at NATO Centers of Excellence.
If...

Is the 30-06 sprg obsolete?
Will it still be a popular hunting and target shooting round in 50 years?
>>28406408
does it still go bang and kill things?
>>28406831
>.308 win not doing it just as well and cheaper
>300 win mag not doing it better
>>28406408
It's a nice and versatile round, with lots of reloading potential.
So I managed to get one of these.
A Saiga 7.62x39.
The way it looks pisses me off, I figured you could just get a different stock and front grip. I found a few, but it's all a bit to tacticool for me. What stocks are available and so forth?
>>28406331
convert your saiga bro.
Getting it up to this would be preferred.
>>28406331
>but it's all a bit to tacticool for me.
Sell your saiga and buy an sks then
"Anon, did you REALLY need to bring your CC to dinner with my parents tonight? You know that's just going to upset my mother."
>>28406138
>concealed means concealed
>>28406138
What you're mom doesn't see won't hurt her.
>>28406138
That's why it's called fucking CONCEALED carry
Now get cooking whore
Post pics of guns or other /k/ related stuff you've inherited.
So I inherited a Stevens 5000 double barrel .410 today curious if anyone knows anything more about them only seen a little bit of info online. Pic related.
You're a fucking dead man.
>>28406105
I inherited my big dick from my grandfather. RiP
>>28406112
What, you don't like pizza?
Hey, /k/. Why do inert rounds cost so much? I'd like to practice with my AR, but I don't want to use live rounds indoors. Also, I like them for 'flinch' testing when I'm shooting at the range.
Why do inert rounds cost more than live ones?
>>28406008
Because they're marketed to fags who don't have a reloading press
So morons
Just dry fire your AR. It's fine.
The only reasons to buy dummies are:
1. It's a rimfire firearm
2. You want to mix dummies and live rounds in your magazines to actually see how bad you're flinching.
>>28406008
Because they are individually machined instead of stamped out and filled en mass. They are not mass-produced like regular ammo because they are not high demand consumables.
I recently bought 2 of Fox Labs 5.3 come formula for me and my gf. I didn't know there was a difference between the cone and stream at the time I bought them.
I've heard people say that the cone formula is more effected by the wind and it can blow back in your face but how likely is this? Are they pretty much gimped to where I should just try and get a refund to get the cone version or does it not make a difference?
>>28405986
I've had good luck combined with lubricant, they can be quite stimulating
>>28405986
Stream. It's direct and works out to about 20 ft
>>28405986
Slight wind can mean you get fucked cause of the aerosol effect. Stream keeps it in nice globs that won't go astray when the wind blows.
Abolish the laws that have crippled the nuclear industry for decades and retarded technological progress. Nukes will out compete all other sources of grid electricity and energy will be so cheap that heavy industries will sprint back to America and we will have exactly zero reasons to care about goatfuckers in the desert. I also just solved climate change.
Establish a serious long term strategic stockpile program. Copper, cobalt, platinum, basically all important industrial materials. Grow the stockpile a little every year until America is immune to supply disruption....

Oh yeah supply shocks are a huge worry for manufacturing so the strategic stockpile is another big reason to locate in America.
Now demand for skilled labor is so huge that not even our liberal education mafia can brainwash kids into taking gender studies, they take shop classes again because they want that big paycheck.
>>28405844
How to power cars trucks construction equipment tractors fishing boats aircraft and tanks without oil?
But that said, yeah I would love to see a 100% nuclear, hydro, and wind power grid with cheap electricity everywhere. Unfortunately liberals fuck it up like they do everything
Too many luddite retards in America to make that happen.
If an F-35 was sent back in time to 1941 with enough supplies to last for 10 years of nonstop fighting, could it defeat the IJN by itself?
>>28405546
If OP was sent back in time to suck all the dicks for non stop sucking, is he the biggest fag?
>>28405546
It would be immediately spotted by WW2 radars and shot down by WW2 fighters since it can only carry 4 missiles.
>>28405546
No.
For once, one F-35 does not carry enough payload to take out an entire fleet. Which means that Japs could employ the single most effective AA possible - tanks rolling on your airfield.
What are the downsides, if any, of a 1911 chambered in 9mm?
Pros:
Increased capacity (10+1 vs 7 or 8 +1)
Cheaper ammo
For me, I already have guns in 9mm and none in .45 so I would not have to feed another caliber
Cons:
???
>>28405391
Get a hi power
>>28405391
A 1911 chambered in anything but 45ACP just feels like heresy to me
>>28405391
You're gonna be doing an awful amount of mental gymnastics trying to justify such a thing.
If you're worried about capacity, why are you even considering the 1911 in the first place? If you really like the ergonomics of the 1911 and the SAO trigger, go for it I guess.
If you were to get a 1911, get one in .45 or there really wouldn't be any point.
Why would somebody shoot a man before throwing him out of a plane?
As unlikely as it is, people have survived terminal velocity impacts.
>>28405373
Well at least you can talk.
>>28405373
Cause he can.
Cause it is a movie.
Cause ppl can survive some shit.
pick what ever you want.

How do I refinish this to get nice dark look? Or should I just get a different set?
Just sand it down and restain your desire color.
Watch videos about staining wood, it's the same principle. It's not different just because it's a gun.
>>28405333
This, get's confirm for /thread
>>28405282
Op what is your personal opinion on this gun? I am looking to buy one myself.
I have my next gun narrowed down to a .22 pistol, an AR15, or a .357 magnum revolver.
I currently have a 9mm, .45acp, AK, 2 mosins, 2 shotguns, .22 rifle.
>>28405147
so what you want a fucking award?
>>28405166
I wanted a suggestion of which of the 3 best fits my collection.
>>28405166
dubs speak the truth
Does /k/ have any advice on how to maintain a tight group while pushing back distance? Pic related was done with 25 rounds out of a Glock 19 at 10 yards. Once I push the target out to 15 yards my groupings increase out to the 9 ring
>>28405076
Don't suck so much dick.
Focus on how your trigger breaks, make sure you're focusing on the front sight.
>>28405076
positive grip, comfy stance, good breathing technique, practice.
with handguns the slightest movement becomes exaggerated at distance. just the way it is.
