I'm looking at getting something for range. By that I mean from 300m-600m. I was looking at pic related(super vepr .308) as a viable option but after reading reviews it's got me on the fence leaning away from it.
>I'm not looking for an AR 10 or AR clone.
>I'd like to get something in .308.
>Can /k/ give me any suggestion between $1k and 2k?
>Would the super vepr work for what I want?
> Will replacing...

why are you against a .308 AR?
>>28455735
What's wrong with the Vepr
get an m1A or build an ar10 and stop being a pussy
A nice video about a sniper competition in Finland from 2012.

Anyone know what weapon is used at 15:02 ?

Well fuck me in the eye, the custom parts put me off track. thanks.

you wouldn't understand, you're not tacticool
Swag.

They're comfy. And if the mission doesn't require some super-spec operator boots, then why bother?
Just wanted to let you all know shooting a gun is very simple. Everyone can operate a gun. It takes no special skill to do so. You are not special. Everyone who can lift 5 kg up above their head right with their arms can also hold, aim and shoot a gun.
A beginner can shoot just aswell as a senior as long as he understands the concept of guns (point, squeeze, recoil, sights). Perhaps if you have shot guns everyday for 50 years, then maybe you're alittle better but it doesn't really matter.
Guns, very simple weapon to operate. Swords or let's say an axe however,...

The difficulty of firearms comes from the maneuvering and tactics before you shoot. Axes and swords have very little of that.
>>28452051
why in the fuck do you think all of us neckbeards come on here to circlejerk and feel special?
no shit it's easy. why the hell would any of us work to learn a martial skill like some sort of fag? guns are instant gratification.
That's the point, OP. Firearms are great equalizers. I'm sure you wouldn't say this to my 75 year old grandmother with cancer that got her first gun for christmas because she is afraid of being attacked in her home. I'm sure you wouldn't say this is the countless wheelchair bound gun owners that rely on CC'd handguns to keep them from being an easy target. I'm sure you wouldn't say this to a 5'4" 120 lb. woman that just got out of an abusive relationship and is being threatened by their ex that is much bigger and meaner than...

what are you waiting for?
if 2016 i drop my neet life and join the vdv

Im waiting for them to approve my citizenship, but I'm not going VDV, I'm going for interior ministry or something anti terror.
Would this be able to penetrate the sides of a modern warship?
I reckon it would fuck it up.
They literally are still in service dumbass
modern warships dont have much in the way of armour
>>28451996
1. Probably. Ships don't have much in the way of armor these days.
2. Probably not, internals are very compartmentalized. Unless damage control is absolute ass and/or you get a very lucky hit something important, frigate-sized or bigger isn't going to notice much. Maybe if it just sat there and let you shoot it, eventually you'd get somewhere.
I want to get my wife a reliable CC gun. She is a huge pussy and says .380 has too much recoil and the slides on them are too much for her to pull back. Now, I could offer her my Skorpion but I dont think its the best option so I am thinking about getting her a Beretta 21a in .25ACP. I know the ammo is expensive compared to the .22lr but the reliability increase makes it worth it.
>So, what would be a good CC for her and how does a Beretta 21a in .25ACP stack up?
.25acp is the most useless caliber ever
Teach her to shoot properly.

The std squad. Shitty trigger discipline squad

Squad Cumbucket
OP here, pic not related, we are an airsoft squad and we know our trigger discipline
It's 2016, why don't you own a Makarov yet?
>>28451725
cause i lost my job last week and eating a gun is a one time solution, i prefer real food that costs less and tastes better and is good for my health...
>>28451725
Because its a cheap piece of slavshit
>>28451725
Because it's a handgun, so I'd never use it when I have rifles and a 12ga to play with.
I like to get the most fun out of my dollars.
Vz.61 Skorpion for HD.
Retarded idea or no? I like the gun a lot, I just don't know much about .32 ACP. But my place has thin walls and not a lot of maneuvering room, so the compactness appeals as well.
>home defense
>.32 acp
Naw
>>28451645
You're going to be using fmj if you want it to be reliable.
It'll do though, easy to make quick and accurate snap shots using the mag as a girp.
>>28451649
Wasn't it extremely popular in Europe for police and military guns? Can't be all bad, especially with the right ammo. Heck, aren't a bunch of CC pistols chambered in it
I use a Tok right now, and I was looking as a cheap pump, but the layout and small space makes it a pain for a shotgun.
Of course, the odds of me needing an HD gun are crazy low, but rather have it than need it, etc.
Can you set me straight on stolen valor? If I want to wear combat boots, cammies, skivvy shirts, PT clothes, shirts with branch logos on them, wear dog tags and regulation haircuts etc. only for fashion and because I like the look, and not to obtain discounts or pretend I'm a service member, is there anything legally wrong with that? Can I tell off any servicemen that scream"muh valor" at me even though I'm wearing it just for fun?
Not but you are a faggot
If youre open about not being a servicemember or veteran, and not trying to get discounts of benefits, youre fine. Anybody else is an autist sperg.

/thread
I know I'm a little bit late, but any Texans here open carrying now that it's legal? I've gone out a few times already (pic related) but being that it's cold lately I have a sweater that covers it.
What setup are you using? Will you open carry at all or stay concealed? interested to see Texas' /k/ opinion.
Also, general open carry thread.
bump.. No Texans online??
>>28451723
I'm in Kansas and we've been doing this for a long time.
You Texas cucks are late to the OC party.
>>28451617
That holder does not have adequate retention for open carrying. Someone's going to walk up behind you and shoot you with your own gat
I'm looking for a bolt action rifle in .308, as I would like to go elk hunting in the future, but I have some questions. What does /k/ recommend for under $500? I was thinking a ruger american, or a used remington 700, but am open to suggestions. Also, can I use 7.62 nato in a .308 rifle? I have heard differing opinions on this, but no facts or sources to back it up.
>>28451594
You can totally use 7.62 real fuckin' NATO in a .308 gun. It's the other way around that you need to be more careful.
Savage Axis .308
>>28451594
x51 is like 50fps slower than .308
Its not going to make a difference.
Go for a Tikka anon.
So these guys that do military archaeology unearthed this thing on a WWI/WWII location in Romania and have no idea what it is. Does anyone have any idea what it is? Apparently it still has some Feldgrau marks on it so it's most likely a military artifact. I can post more pics if needed. A guy assumed it could be from a telephone switchboard but i'm not certain.
>>28451543
It's a broken typewriter.
>>28451543
if those conduct electricity properly it's properly a switchboard of some kind
or it could be a musical instrument
>>28451563
This
A rather curious question has come up when I was discussing the Pacific Theater with a few of my friends. What if Roosevelt went with Nimitz plans to invade Formosa and not the Philippines? Was Nimitz's plan to bypass the Philippines a better strategy in the long run? Or did MacArthur actually have the better idea, even if it was mostly fueled by revenge and glory?
That late in the war any land invasion was fucking retarded.
The IJN was already blown the fuck out and we just needed a few groups to hunt down the remnants and the main fleet to blockade Japan while we bombed them to shit from Iwo Jima.
Japan would have accepted peace at any point
All the tens of thousands dying in island hopping campaigns died for nothing
But ofc, muh death march! While ignoring that the US officers deliberately put the japs in the situation where they had to "death march" POWs back to their supply bases.
