New manga gamer boundle out that will give them plenty of sales numbers again. Poor tracking guy.

But it is mostly no name porn titles. I guess even though they cost barely anything to translate, they don't really sell much. At least in the 25 dollar range.

Just when you thought the bundles sales obscurification might calm down, time for a groupees bundle!

The number of evangile wallscroll bundles has dropped from 40 to 30, and it has moved to the first spot on hardcopy sales chart. I suppose that's a good week for hardcopy sales, relatively.

In other news, I've been tracking the weekly sales chart for awhile, and recently started doing the same for the popularity sort. Given Mangagamer recently posted their end of year sales totals (http://blog.mangagamer.org/2016/01/13/2015-in-review/) and I've actually got a fairly good chunk logged, I figured I'd start pastebinning so you can go back and get an idea of how things faired. and also see just how much gahkthun struggled.

15% off was quite nice for me since I bought WoW Legion this month too.

I'm fully expecting Yurirei to be a big success for MG because of all that coverage when they announced the game would be out on Steam completely uncensored.
>>
>>14629849
While that is undoubtedly true, the same cannot be said for Aokana. Yet people are trying to convince people of that through underhanded tricks like lumping it together with a machine translation project and proving the other project is a machine translation (therefore the one I associate it with must be as well!).
>>
>>14629832>>14629890

Don't complain about machine TL on fan projects.
Just don't read them.

Or read it. Since you don't know japanese, you won't even be able to know if its machine TL'd!

Everybody wins!

Machine TL with professional tier English writing is better than perfect translation with 1st grader writing.

Machine TL with 1st grader writing is Ixrec.

Actually, the Harem Party hard copy sold very well and had to be reprinted several times.
>>

Most of those games are several years old, so them not selling very well anymore isn't very surprising. And as mentioned many times, nukige sell around what story titles do, and actually have longer tail sales.

Magical Eyes - Feb 29th release
Magical Eyes - Winter release planned

Second week in a row it's listed twice, and no one notices because no one cares.

Bonus: Even the reddit repost faggot copypasta'd it unchanged
>>
>>14630047
Highly doubt it.
Bundle is up for 3 days and amount of bundles delivered didn't change much from what it was 12 hours ago when I checked it. Yet there are 400 orders in one hour according to their screenshots. Even at 5 orders per single sold bundle, they would need to sell 100 bundles per hour, while its about 5-10 bundles per hour from what I observed.
>>
>>14629846
Doubtful.

I wonder if Lemnisca will release their translation if it doesn't. Would be a shame to translate the entire thing only for it never to see the light of day.
>>
>>14630120
Its too popular to fail.
I bet people will increase their pledges in last days radically if it will look like not reaching the goal.
>>
>>14630137
I'm just going by the current rate of pledges, but I think it slowed down way too much too early for it to reasonably make the goal. I mean it's not impossible for there to be a huge push at the end, but I think it's just too far off for it to be a reasonable expectation to happen.

It is kind of a shame, I'd have preferred this one succeed than that vampire game, but it is what it is I guess.
>>
>>14630137
The problem is people don't want to back Sekai anymore and they're sure they'll just release it anyway. No reason to do a glorified preorder.
>>
>>14630147
Is it possible for them to lower the goal or accept a smaller amount if they don't make the full amount? Or do they get nothing unless they raise the full amount ?
>>
>>14630137
I pledged $150 (+$10 shipping) from the start. I'm not rich enough to raise my pledge even further without having to seriously question my sanity.

Nah man, I can see Lemnisca going full butthurt and throwing their entire finished translation directly into the garbage because they're mad their Kickstarter failed. I very much doubt they'll release it if they can't make money off it at this point.
>>
>>14630157
Pretty sure you get nothing if you don't make your goal.
>>
>>14630157
>they get nothing unless they raise the full amount
That's how kickstarter works. The most they could do is relaunch the campaign again at a later time if the devs still want to try it again after the first failure.
>>
>>14630159
Average pledge is lower than Narcissu, and much lower than Clannad/Grisaia/MuvLuv, so I'm sure plenty of backers didn't go full out and got minimal tier. If SP plays damsel in distress well enough, I'm sure they could raise average pledge up to 80-100$ range.
>>
>>14630194
The problem is that the rewards are shit.
>>
>>14630194
I don't follow Kickstarter much, but is it really common for projects that are this far below goal and have clearly tapered off on pledges (only getting around $1,000~day or less from what I've checked) actually turn it around and succeed?

I just feel like this thing is doomed. Where are they going to get another 80k+ from when most of the people who actually cared pledged at the start?
>>
>>14630206
Narcissu was supposed to be doomed almost all the way till the end and then it miraculously got tons of pledges and reached goal with decent margin.
>>
>>14630206
Some projects can get a surge at the end, however given the circumstances surrounding RD and Sekai's pissing off former backers, the lack of daily pledges is not a good sign. There may still be a surge at the end, but going by the numbers, I doubt it'd be enough to save it. Most people who were backed due to worrying it would fail have done so already as well.
>>
>>14630210
Even Narcissu didn't perform this badly and its goal was thousands less. Sekai most likely helped bump it with a few grand themselves, but Root Double is most likely too much in the hole at this point for that to work.

Trying to calculate anything during bundles is a crapshoot which is why I don't bother. You might also want to keep in mind that there's also a lot of leftovers from the indiegala bundle that are still getting redeemed.
>>
>>14630120
Lemnisca releasing this on their own after all of this is really doubtful unless they really want to get sued.
>>
>>14630277
What's with those spikes in the end?
>>
>>14630596
It's typical for a Kickstarter's final days to get a spike at the end, usually in alignment when the 48 hours left notice goes out. Root Double will get one too, the question is if they can get close enough for that spike to push them over the goal. Their daily funding has stabilized at around 2k a day, so they're not completely doomed yet if they can get a boost from something else before the end.
>>
>>14630596
There's a notice sent out for all kickstarters at the 48 hours left to go mark.
>>
>>14630596
pretty sure that a good chunk of it was sp throwing their own money in to it
>>
>>14630741
That doesn't even make an ounce of sense as Narcissu was overfunded by 22k. And that same trend happens with pretty much every single Kickstarter.
>>
>>14630760
Sekai was getting worried about the Narcissu KS and were desperately shilling it everywhere. Then an odd amount of over 1k pledges appeared really close together. They may have wanted people to think it was closer to reaching its goal than it was, so that people would push it over the threshold and continue supporting it.
>>
>>14630760
Things don't need to make sense or be true if they reinforce your existing beliefs.
>>
>>14630913
By the time of the last few days it was clear that it was going to get funded. Your theory is nonsense, they didn't risk their entire business to cheat Kickstarter and waste their own money (KS gets a cut of funding) for a project that was already on its way to reaching the base goal.

I am a stupid chuuni with shit taste. I liked the demo a lot, I'm a sucker for chuuni magic battles, and I liked Akane's endless determination in spite of her weak power. I just need my shitty chuunibyou stuff, man, it's like the shounenshit I used to read but with moe and waifus.

Also I want to learn Japanese so I can read whatever weebshit I want, not just for one game.

Yea I also constantly wonder why I don't put more effort into Japanese. The amount of loli games with simple text should be easy to play through with just a little work. Compared to the slim chances they get translated by anyone else.

>>
>>14632155
So you think that anything with magical powers that, if we're going by Koiken Otome's commitment to its 'battle' premise, at any point ever has two characters competing in any minor way, is chuuni.

Good to know you're an idiot.
>>
>>14632155

>>

>>
>>14632171
Then why does anime, wherever it wants to parody chuuni, usually portray characters doing superhuman stuff with magic powers, named attacks, and made-up terms?

Chuuni to me isn't just any Fantasy ever, it's stuff that has superhuman characters who get into over-the-top fights with lots of extravagantly named attacks, made-up terms, and a giant overdose of anime cheese. I mean, of I'm wrong, I'm willing to admit it, but that's what I lead to believe it meant.

>over-the-top fights with lots of extravagantly named attacks, made-up terms, and a giant overdose of anime cheese
So not Koiken Otome at all.
>>
>>14632238
So there's not as much action as the premise would have you believe? Fuck.

I just want to read some unapologetic escapist battle harem trash. I have shit taste and I don't deny it.
>>
>>14632269
So learn japanese and go read 11eyes, fortissimo and later Masada's stuff
>>
>>14632269
Let's put it this way. Every character gets one CG where they pose with their weapon. Some heroines have to share. The main heroine gets two CGs. That's all the art devoted to the 'fighting' in the game. Even Fuwanovel machine translators call it generic crap.

>A definite like for those who want a game similar to Kamikaze Explorer and similar games with mild drama and magical powers. The big downer for this game is that it goes through all that trouble to introduce such a weird setting and turned it into just another magical gakuen love-comedy eroge

Any chance for Mirrormoon to pick up the sequel of Utawarerumono ? I know they are still alive because sometimes they update their patch of Melty Blood.
It's frustrating to watch the anime of utamono when the vn look so fucking good, and it seems like the gameplay is way better than the first episode.

It isn't Mirrormoon. BL makes the translation.

How were the sales for Tears to Tiara II ? If it flopped then they will never work on another Aquaplus title. Or maybe it's possible that Fruitbat Factory strike a new deal with Aquaplus ?

Atlus doesn't release numbers and niche JRPGs don't sell enough to make it onto sales charts in the West, so who knows. I figure they'll be interested in Utawarerumono because it's on the PS4 and they've done a bunch of Aquaplus titles recently (including Dungeon Travelers 2).

Certainly the fantastic performance of RD is showing how kickstarters are the future of VNs isn't it dovac? Even appealing to a different audience SP is having trouble with their recent kickstarters and this is bound to continue given their ever increasing excellent reputation!

I'm sure dovac feels proud of all the shit he has done so far. It even baffles me how someone who says he's been following the industry for several years (and even says he was related to tlwiki) can make the decisions and have the attitude he had so far. One of such crazy people here. It doesn't matter how crazy we are if the object of our craziness doesn't match your preference.

Utawarerumono 2 does have a better chance of getting a fan dedicated and skilled enough for the job than any other PS3 exclusive VN (maybe except for S;G0 - "exclusive" as in "only works on one hackable console"), but I wouldn't count on it. The project of such scope needs team work and fans like that don't like to be a part of the team.

Because it's going on Steam.
>>
>>14635446
But it's not cut. All of MG's all-ages games are cheaper then their adult counterparts, though it's hard to tell now that most of the all-ages versions of adult titles have been removed from their store due to getting them rated.

This is good new if true though, since I could get some vns I've been hoping for at a discount, plus a preorder discount.
>>
>>14635457
I meant that they're pricing it with the Steam marketplace in mind. And since there is only one version of the game the price is the same on MG's storefront.
>>
>>14635465
Tokyo Babel might end up being around the same price then. All-ages titles haven't typically sold well for MG in the past, so copies sold on Steam or bought from them for the Steam key bonus will likely make up the majority of its sales.

Dies Irae is popular because of his meme status for being the "hardest" visual novel to translate but i don't think people really care about Chaos:Child.
