DxS is the reason why Aroduc romanized BB MC's name as Darx and not Dirks. He hates DxS. You should too.

I don't believe that either. Especially not an all-ages version. IF he is in bed with them, I am certain he will go rogue and release a TL himself.

The game has mature themes, that aren't necessarily nice. The vanilla H is unimportant, but there's.. a bit more. I dunno about cutting/altering that. Depends on how much they'll be fine with on Steam. For those who read it: I'm thinking about stuff like that "red light" area scene in the first route. Or generally stuff that happens if you are.. "slow" at certain times.

And even aside of that, Aroduc? That doesn't matter. Look at Root Double. That had a known and good translator behind it as well. And yet they so horribly messed up the editing/localizing. Let alone that the way they released it was horrible. (very little communication, last day delays.. and when it came out all you got was a twitter message or something not even 24 hours before release..)

Do I have to write more? Sekai is unprofessional. There are enough times to make you think, they have no idea what they are doing. They don't seem to communicate well. They don't seem to bother with listening to the criticism they get from everywhere and seem to just assume it's not based on some truth and that they just happen to be the company everyone hates without any reason whatsoever.

Sure, things can change. Pretty sure people are waiting for that for a while already. But as it stands right now, Sekai has yet to release something that makes me think they could perhaps not mess up Baldr Sky Dive. We'll see.

People being excited is.. well. Probably unrelated to it being specifically Dive? Or maybe they are still around from the time where it was supposed to get a fan-tl? Anyway, the basic Steam user is important, and those seem to be not very fond of "miniature window" games. I'm not sure if Dive is actually good enough for people to get on the train after the release for that alone. Hard for me to say. Ixrec gave it a what.. 8/10 review or something. From what I've read, it'd be a bit lower than that. It's not bad but not that good either.
>>
By the way, Sekai Project is blacklisting websites for covering the existence of fan translations. The only people that give them any sort of coverage. I'm sure they can afford this being perpetually in the red.
>>
So JAST fucked up -_-
>>
>>15488352
Don't listen to the autist lord, he has no evidence what he just said there.
>>
>>15488321
Really? Is there any source giving an explanation? All that I was able to find are some tweets claiming that Degica is going to release it while the others being about Sekai planning to organise a Kickstarter for KimiNozo to be remade with Sayori's art.
>>
>>15488351
Maybe they'll go under before first dive and then we can just get the fan tl
>>
>>15488364
I doubt that we will be that lucky, luck always favours the the bad ones.
>>
Is Dovac so blind not to see how bad their reputation has gotten? Every community you go to discuss SP you are flooded with negative comments and critique of every single one of their decisions.

He don't give a fuck about his reputation since japanese devs will flock at his door just like Giga for the glorious steambucks.
And SP or not steam faggots will buy their titles nonetheless.

>>

You're saying that like that ever stopped SP before.
>>
>>15488480
Yes, because I don't think that Dovac has the balls or re-relase a nukige that consist in raping lolis as an all-age title for Steam.
>>
Isn't that one Sayori VN basically a nukige? Will SP actually try to cut it up for a Steam release?

Other fan TLs gonna be licensed by Sekai confirmed.
>However, while I’m sure that many are disappointed about the fact that they’ll have to wait a bit longer until they can read SakuSaku, there’s also a bright side to all of this. IroSekai after Hoshimemo seems pretty obvious.
>>
>new official VN translation announced
>fan translating groups for that VN/other VNs by the same developer get C&Ds or quit
>18+ content cut and translation quality poor
>VN still makes a good amount of money
>repeated over and over
The onslaught of official translation really fucked every thing up. I was so happy when VNs started getting the official treatment, but I think we were better off before.
>>
>>15488535
I think that one of the "other titles" will be Aokana and the rest maybe some machinetl's from fuwa.
>>
>>15488549
It's probably going to be IroSekai and Astral Air, since Sekai has ties to the dev and the translation group. And Astral Air's translation is complete.
>>
>>15488546
90% of the blame is on Sekai.
>>
>>15488546
> I was so happy when VNs started getting the official treatment, but I think we were better off before.

Same. Even if the tl quality wasn't that good during the fantl era at least there were no censoring, no oelvn or jews companies pandering to steam.
>>
Honestly, I have no idea how they'll write around Chinatsu's good end.
I mean, I have a good idea of how they'll do it but I don't see it working well.

>>
How do these official translation companies get away with so many unfinished projects? Sekai alone has like 2 dozen projects that are unfinished, some that have seemingly disappeared all together.
>>
>>15488626
You haven't bought them yet, so they're under no obligation to release under a deadline, unless it was part of their contract with the Japanese devs. More popular and profitable games will also be given priority.
>>
>>15488626
It could be worse. SP could become like JAST.
>>
>>15488674
Wasn't the Grisaia trilogy supposed to be out by last fall? The 18+ version of the second game isn't out yet and the third game hasn't been released at all. No wonder Japanese devs are ditching Sekai when they agree to the most unrealistic deadlines imagineable then miss them by a mile.
>>
>>15488681
One year delay isn't 5 year delay just yet.
>>
>>15488685
World End Economica is on like a 3 year delay (with it having gone through 4 translators) and it's a short doujin game. That's JAST tier, worse because it was Kickstarted.
>>
>>15488723
They were busy throwing all of their translation resources at Clannad, since that was much more popular. Considering Clannad's length, its translation timeline was nothing short of miraculous.
>>
>>15488674
They're on their way, with their backlog and their slow pace
>>
>>15488681
We should use Chuablesoft's president's connection to Yuzusoft to wrestle it from SP's hands. Not like they're doing anything with it.
>>
>>15488772
> SP sitting on a Yuzusoft partnership.

Awful. Though, really I think I described this a while ago, but SP historically doesn't do partnerships. They have been recently, with Degica and Sayori, but with everyone else they just try to acquire specific games rather than building a lasting relationship.

MG or JAST could easily set up a real partnership with Yuzusoft. They have a ton of good moege too.
>>
I'm sad about Chuable. Personally, they're one of my favorite companies mainly because I agree with most of the director's visions in his games and share many of his hobbies. Here's hoping Sukisuki gets a good treatment since it was a laudeable attempt at a different formula even though it wasn't stellar work, but that's probably very wishful thinking? I don't even know.

Just learn Japanese.

Looking at their site it seems they also bring over drama CDs and extras. Hopefully you also get Mahiru's voice CD too from last Character1, I lost count of how many times I've slept soundly after listening to it. It's too sweet.

That's a really nice idea.
SISTERS have a beautiful chara-design with fully animated sex scenes and an intriguing story. Girls are cute too, from milf to modest chest teenager.
I wonder if Jellyfish is interested by the western market. I thought the studio was dead.

Jellyfish is working on iVirgin last time I heard from them releasing a teaser on BugBug, and were doing fine still selling artbooks and such.
The story is actually fairly simple, structurally speaking; it would be hard to fuck up a translation of it. It's a great idea though, something I'd expect from pervert extraordinaire Hamashima. Maybe she can make it happen.

dovac's response about possibility of 18+ Baldr Sky

It's another non-answer. They'll say "maybe" until they get all the kickstarter funds and then it's "we never promised such a thing".

If it's not positive from the start it means that they will not release a 18+ version. That's SP way of doing things.

It only took them 3 years to get the license according to dovac on twitter, so convincing Giga to do the 18+ version should only take a few more years at most.

Dovac lies to everybody about everything.
>>
"No promises" means "no" in 100% of all cases.
>>
I wonder if Dovac is aware that he is singlehandedly killing the industry. You can't burn bridges every single announcement and kickstarter.

The end result will be that everyone who partners with them think the western market is dead because so few will buy their titles. But that is entirely because Sekai pushed them all into piracy.

Will be rough for MG and JAST negotiations to convince Japanese companies that they only failed because they partnered with Sekai.

Do you know how many units Japanese VN publishers usually sell in Japan? Do you know how many units SP/JAST/MG sell for any of their games? Do you know how many units are sold via import/export directly from Japan?

The answer to all these questions is likely no, yet you're crying like the end of the world is near. You should visit places outside of /jp/ from time to time, it will help reduce the effect of the filter bubble you're experiencing.
>>
>>15489190
I wonder if it crossed his mind at all to tell Aroduc that he was going to sell his translation before announcing it.
>>

>>
>>15489219
No, we just want the lewds.
>>
>>15489219
>"respecting the author's vision"
People only use this argument to justify H scenes. Anything that has ever had an 18+ version is expected to offer one. Look at MG's Himawari announcement. They announced the all-ages art updated remake and people want the oldest and only 18+ version to be released, despite the creators preferring all-ages.
>>
>>15489223
Maybe there'll be a way to make a 18+ patch

Yes. G-Senjou (censored) 2k sales and Grisaia (uncensored) 25k sales. This shows us that Dive 1 will sell 2k sales, and I hope Dovac is happy.

Would MG and Jast sell more? Can't really say, but my impression from Euphoria sales is that people will buy anything if they like the publisher.

Euphoria is a unique case where I think the publisher name has pretty much nothing to do with its success. Disclaimer that I have pretty much zero actual intel on what goes on in the shady back rooms, but I can hypothesize that a combination of "another game for Euphoria fans" and us already being on good terms with Clock Up made it a no-brainer. I don't see Maggot Baits as deliberately pushing forward an agenda so much as when choosing acquisitions to make for the next series of releases, it just naturally floated to the top. If that makes any kind of sense.

>>15489437

Well, I feel like if Euphoria was literally as it currently is but just under a different name, it'd sell similarly, but company pride/loyalty does make me agree that I think we here at MG were most capable of creating the best quality product. But I'd say that about ANY game, really.

The question is how hard Sekai pushes for the 18+ content, of which we have no way of knowing. I don't consider the barriers to have moved at all. Kindred Spirits wasn't as softcore as it gets and Gahkthun only got in with an M-rating from the ESRB. BokuTen will have some cuts, and that's likely the line that Steam draws for how far H can go.
>>
>>15489861
Bokuten in particular will be interesting to see what the final result is. Both Kindred Spirits and Gahkthun got through because they found a way to say the original was acceptable. Bokuten on the other hand they have a clearly explicit title, and want to figure out the minimum needed to get it through.

I agree that neither Kindred Spirits nor Gahkthun really moved the line, but they did highlight that the actual line was a good deal farther out then anyone else had noticed.

Patches, Patches, Patches. It is the solution to all problems. Every EOP does it already because they realized it cause mass sales.

Steam doesn't need to change at all, because we can work around limitations. What we can't work around is japanese being terrified by new things and refusing to make money by exploring new markets.
>>
>>15489837
They can literally release on steam and then release a separate patch, as some of them have. Steam, the publishers, and the consumers can have it the way they want it.
>>
>>15489912
Patches can cause problems for the publishers if the engine doesn't restrict what people can post from it on Steam, like Nekopara's engine does. Sekai got in trouble over Sakura Dungeon and other games that don't have those restrictions.

>They want to expand their market outside Japan and for that they want to make their games pretty much for kids and to people that can't see boobs because they either get a urge to fap or to act like a attention whore complaining about them.
>The problem isn't Steam because there are multiple alternatives to release a uncut version. The problem is simply their attitude and thinking that we outside Japan don't deserve to get the original version.
>Sexual content has been part of the medium pretty much since the beginning and apparently they don't like that within english audiences.
>For even attempting to cultivate this type of releases here, they don't deserve any respect and support.
