Did Strawberry Bose go bankrupt or something? Their last game was released 3 years ago and I don't think we've heard from them since.

I visited their website and it looks like they've been quite active. The real issue is probably that the only games anyone ever talks about are Genius of Sappheiros and Devil of Decline.

Also, nobody translated Nightmare of Rebellion.
>>
>>15414201
DRM killed discussion dead.
>>
>>15414211
People cracked Rebellion in short order, didn't they?
>>
>>15414212
People want to download a game and play it, not mess around with shady Chinese shit.

Whatever it did for the bottom line it killed most of what interest there was in the West.
>>
>>15415540
...which was probably right what they intended.
>>
>>15414155
How many rocks have you been living under? They're porting Genius of Sappheiros to the PS Vita with extra content (like Akyuu as a playable character).
>>
>>15414212
They are still trying to crack it I think, since it uses the same DRM that the combined disk of DoD has and that hasn't been cracker either.

Either way, they are still working on the original expansion translation still so no NoR yet unless it is from a different group.

The expansion of NoR required you to use cheat engine in a specific way multiple times to get through one of the dungeons because one of the key items would not spawn. You had to use cheat engine just to even enter the expansion's new area, which is what caused the failed spawn to begin with. This pretty much stopped most people's playthrough.

I remember being the only guy even playing to the final boss in one of the threads for the expansion.

Devil of Decline 100% translation when
>>
Devil of Decline's translation is gradually coming along. I wouldn't expect it within the next few months, but it won't be forever, either.

>>15420092
So, mister talkin' about NoR's expansion, happen to know any place to download it? I've been searching for over a half hour and I can't find the slightest hint. I could only even find a couple ways to get the non-expansion, which is almost done downloading, but...
>>
Nevermind, just found the expansion on a korean site. Sweet!
>>
...no, I'm just dumb. This is 1.00.
>>
>>15414211
Yeah, this. From the little I managed to play out of NoR I couldn't feel as attached to the game as I did to GoS or DoD either, and since it's become such a pain to play that game (or everything else they've done since) I just kind of stopped caring about them.
>>15414212
Yes, but at some point the updates outpaced the cracked releases, and eventually an expansion came out so that cracked version became irrelevant. I don't think the Chinese overlords bothered with trying to crack the game after that.
I'm happy for the Vita version of GoS adding new things, but I can't care about SB anymore. Maybe I should just go replay GoS again.
>>
>>15421081
Sorry, but it's been so long ago it doesn't even show up in my chronic anymore.

Pretty sure it was from one of those shared cloud servers that the chinese like to use for everything.
>>
AHAHAHAHAA. What I found was actually a korean TRANSLATION patch. I thought the screenshot choices seemed weird... it also hacks past the DRM from what I can tell off google translate though, but I can't seem to unzip it. The password for the file is "genpatch" but I'm getting errors. My cruddy internet probably downloaded it wrong or something.

If anyone else wants to test, this is the korean patch/hack. http://blog.naver.com/chlehd0509/220331688637
>>
Come to think of it, by not replacing the package files (but replacing with the .exe and system file that are provided) you can probably avoid (most of?) the k.translation whilst keeping the DRM hack? (Since resources to help you play the game will be japanese references.)

I'm currently redownloading files to see if that'll fix the "can't use same place as source and destination!" unzip error.
>>
...it's worth mentioning though, even though one of the other pages related to his explicitly says "If you have this patch, you don't need the keygen or crack anymore" to pretty much confirm it stops DRM, I still don't actually have the expansion to use it on in the first place. My search efforts all turned up dry.

If any of you still have it it'd be amazing if you could upload it somewhere, now that a proper answer to DRM is around.

Okay, upon trying to install NoR, I think the reason I can't find the expansion DL is because the game just patches itself up to the latest expansion version regardless of what you're starting with? So there is no expansion download. There's just the game, which autopatches.

But just doing the game install brings me to this which I can't bypass and have no idea what any of it says.
>>
>>15425859
It's asking you to register on something and input your serial key. I believe you can bypass that by editing one of the installation files (there's something about asking for serial), or at least that's what I remember from when I played NoR.
>>
>>15425969
This is hilarious.
"InstallationKey & EnableSerial yes"
Thanks ctrl+f. Changing the installer.exe to installer.ee and opening it in notepad... wow.
>>
Okay, final result.
Editing the installer is enough to get the game to install and it will happily patch itself all the way from 1.0.0 to 2.0.9 with no cares to drm or not.

After that, you just need the game.TARC from the korean patch to bypass the DRM. This is what contains the crack it seems, actually, not the .exe or system.ini.

Downside:That means the game will be in korean whilst your jp reference stuff (and or your actual brain knowledge of language) will be in japaneeeeeese, even if the game is totally functional that may be a significant problem to you.
>>
I tried playing it, but text hookers weren't getting the text correctly so I gave up
>>
>>15426608
Isn't there a way to only translate it?
>>
>>15427782
This, also tried withe the earlier crack, but had to stop
>>
Do you think that we will have DoD translated at least in december/1st january?
It's my expectation.
>>
>>15431529
DoD might be translated by then, based on their current progress notes. However, their last one also made it sound like "We'll have the plot cutscenes done, but not the shikigami recruitment" which if true is disappointing because that's even more dialogue than the actual plot scenes.

DoD has a really, really big amount of text due to 4 routes and all the shikigami cutscenes being really long, and there's a LOT of those, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

>>15430917
What, to -only- translate the game to korean without the crack? I mean, having the crack isn't explicitly bad if you bought the game legitimately anyway. In any case, I didn't find anything about a crack separate from their translation patch (apart from the keygen that won't work on the expansion) and the file with the DRM in it is the file that has almost all the game text in it.

So, you either get korean+crack or no crack and no korean so you can only play if you buy the game (or play, like, 1.0.0 unpatched and no expansion; it goes from 1.0.0.1 to expansion in the patcher now so RIP playing 1.0.6 cracked). The other non-crack-necessary files are the img packs and "effects" which I think is related to battle statuses and maybe doppel passives and stuff, but I didn't check enough to see exactly how much was and wasn't changed to korean because :effort:.

This was a really long answer simply because I'm bored.
>>
>>15431776
Link to these progress notes?
>>
>>15431779
Went ahead and reread it, the situation is slightly better looking than I recalled, but yes, the translation on shikigami recruitment and expansion has not yet been started. (Well, it may have by now, but I wouldn't bet on it.)

This is directly to the latest translation update post. The talk got slightly sidetracted afterwords and then into specifics on exact status effect descriptions.

DESU the only way I see them finishing by 2017 is a "Maybe" if they did a release without shikigami recruitment scenes translated. There's a -lot- of those scenes, they're all surprisingly long, and there's 4 versions of each (because 4 routes).

Thank you, I wanted crack only, they could have made a patch...
Anyway, to play the 1.0.0 version, >>15427782 was this solved?
>>
>>15431985
There probably was one, before the translation was finished, but hell if I could find it. Yes it would be nice, since in JP there's some stuff to help play it, or you can skulk the jp wikis for the game easier.

I don't know what the patch notes say so I'm not sure how great of an option 1.0.0 is (apart from the obvious "it doesn't have the expansion) but you should be able to find the keygen download without much trouble on google.

Or well, nah, you can have it right here.

>>15431899
While a good point, current pace could easily have just the expansion take half a year alone- not to be pessimistic or anything, just as an FYI. But it -will- be done eventually!
>>
>>15432921
Is there an h-code to use with text hookers for this?
>>
>>15438453
I don't know anything about text-hookers, sorry. All I hear is that trying to use a text hooker on this game doesn't work in the slightest.

The fact that you'd have to play it in Korean instead of Japanese probably doesn't make that better?
>>
>>15439083
Nope, I can understand a little of japanese, so I use text hookers to make everything hiragana, so I can read.
The previous games worked, but it can't get the text of this one
>>
Oh hey, great news!

So as soon as I found the korean patch I'd actually talked with someone who knows enough jp to translate weapon/skill names, effects, and passives (Not dialogue, though) and has been LP'ing NoR while translating some info...

And got a friend to translate an email into korean to send to the korean translation team, and they just responded, letting us use their .tarc unpacker!

So, out of the blue, a basic gameplay tier english patch is actually IN THE WORKS for Nightmare of Rebellion!
>>
Quick question, how do you activate the world map for DoD?
>>
>>15441401
It's one of your basic 4 (or 6? Might be start or select, MAYBE) buttons, just hit all the things you've got mapped in the game's config until you find it? There's only a few to test.
>>
>>15441316
>English translation patch based on the Korean translation patch of a Japanese game
The world of piracy is a strange one.
>>
>>15441316
Can you ask them about doing a crack only version?
>>
>>15443308
Well, it's not really "based on". We just needed their tool to de-encrypt the game's files so we can touch 'em. It's actually a really big project to make such a tool even if you had the specific skillset to know how.

But yes it's amusing. Even better is considering english speakers sent a korean email and got a response in japanese.

>>15443570
As for crack-only, apparently mr.translator already had a crack-only, which I'm assuming must have been a license file type hack rather than removing the drm check from the tarc. But it came from a place that's apparently obscenely protective over their cracks so he can't just post links around or he'd have issues getting any more cracks in the future.

Assuming there isn't trouble figuring out to crack the drm in the .tarc, though, yeah, I'll totally ask him to make a jp one. It should be trivial once it's known how for the english one. That should also make it trivial, assumably, for all of strawberry boses's other DRM games that also are all using .tarc~ (Which he has interest in translating after NoR, but, one step at a time here.)

All this talk about cracks makes me feel like I need to adjust my pants.

He actually released a basic-necessities-tier gameplay patch within a week because he -did- already have a translation.txt. But, well, it's sort of difficult to play an indepth rpg while crossreferencing from a text file if you can't read much japanese yourself.

Although I imagine it's somewhat easier to translate a game when you have the data table infront of you rather than having to play through the game and manually locate all the info and translate/write it down/organize it...

I actually forgot about this thread but yeah there's a workable patch for NoR now. Translation thread here.
https://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,19674.0.html
Crack not included but ones exist to be used. It's a work in progress but it's not getting updated -immediately- and it's already got everything you need to happily play the game... apart from a tutorial on game mechanics. But if you wait awhile, the patch will be improved.

All the other strawberry bose games are theoretically planned to get gameplay patches eventually since the tools are now there and the guy has clear intention to do the work. Just keep an eye on said linked thread if you have interest.

Has anyone here ever beaten this game without using Alice in any boss battles, or without using the "cheap win" strats like insta-killing Kanako or controlling Kaguya? Game is fucking fantastic but I feel like they didn't really know how to design boss fights. You either use a strat that trivializes the battle or you lose.

>>
>>15500891
I always swapped around my party and beat some bosses without Alice, you just have to build around it.

Sure Alice makes things much easier but swapping her and using Youmu as a tank speeds up fights a lot if you just burst them down. Other buffs and debuffs can cover for no alice.

Also some of those gimmick fights were designed to be like that, sure they are beatable without "cheating" (beat Sawako and Kanako like this) but there's plenty of hard stuff in the game to cover it.

> controlling Kaguya

What
>>
>>15500989
See's weak to Charm and Control effects to the point where a bit of extra IND buff/debuff and you can control her almost 90% of the fight (unless RNG gives her auto-cleanse but usually you get it back in 1 attempt)

This is why GoS is so amazing, buff/debuffs and status effects are good all stages of the game and on bosses.
>>
>>15500927
Tell me more about this tank Youmu. Not certain I'd ever use her for a boss fight but having another damage dealer would make random encounters a lot less of a hassle. The thing with Alice is that her Marionette Pararr is just too useful. She not only tanks for herself but makes the whole team harder to kill.
>>
>>15501491
While there are some bosses you really need Alice to tank the party up for, you can also just make a non-glass cannon party and buff up.

Something like Youmu center, Sanae, Byakuran, Sakuya and Mokou (with them in the #2/3 agro slot) can work. You just put Youmu on crit stance still defensive stance isn't really worth it since you want to do damage.

With decent gear and Sanae with full party buffs (and some heal/res) and Byakuran with some debuffs and buffs too (her All up buff from 25 Scroll), no one should be 1 shot in the back and the front should be fine, plus youmu will get a tiny bit of free counter damage.

Thing about this game is bosses aren't damage sponges, and you can attempt to just burst them down. Have you 3 fronters go all out and have Sanae on healing duty between buffs with Byakuran on back-up heals and debuffing the bosses. Sure some bosses have high as fuck RES and can't really be debuffed, so you could replace her with Nitori for some extra damage (plus she has some defensive abilities for the party as well).
>>
>>15501491
Also for random fights, I find as long as you have at least Sanae or Reimu in the party (with a good defensive commander like Aya or Satori or Nitori) you don't even need Alice, just try to focus down targets and kill. Nitori is good here too since you can emergency camo bomb and while has weaker AOE than maria/patcy doesnt die when looked at.

I tend to only use Marisa/Patcy combo with Alice (for bosses) since the caster are really squishy and even with a 6% chace to get hit they will almost always get 1 shot.

If you want to go full YOLO just go all damage with something like Youmu/Sakuya/Nitori or Mokou/Marisa/Patcy and just kill things fast.

Learning all these types of parties makes the spilt up areas so much easier.

This is pretty much why GoS is easily the best JRPG I've played because there is so much variey on how you can go about things. Even a full Instant Death party setup is viable and actually good in stage 19/20

I can give it a shot since losing in this game doesn't really affect much except the time you lost. I was surprised that you said you don't use Youmu's defensive stance. Right now I restarted the game and I'm actually only up to Youkai Mountain. Is it still viable around this time? What kind of formation and armor do you use to make this happen?
>>
>>15501567
I played though the game twice and the first time was pretty much just the Alice train but it made some thigns too long/a pain to do.

As long as you do most random encounters and are playing the Weekend version you usually have the gear you need unless RNG really fucks you out of accessory drops (some of the most important things), since you do need some to help tank up Youmu (who already does big crit damage if you max those trees out). Also in weekend you can craft enough so to fill in gaps and make gear for the good players in the team.

Also for formation pretty much always Poison Shield (safer but less damage output good for squisy character) or the default one (skydance is better with center agro but that -20% def is actually quite big).

Also don't forget status effects are HUGE. Mokou with a blind/confusion fist with Fist tree high and mach punch can pretty much disable 1-4 mobs an attack. And she can take hits easily too. Grinding blue magic with satori can give some good effects too to stop things. Honestly Youmu is less good for random encounters as a tank, better to use Mokou and have 3dps and a support/healer.

Hard to remember since I tend to fight most things in a zone and switch around my party alot to keep everyone leveled equally enough (with Aya on perma commander because she's shit unless you like RNG dodge builds and get the drops to support that).
>>
>>15501588
Sanae helps a ton with non-alice parties. Just start off first turn and buff yourself with whatever will help the most (def for heavy hitters, RES for status mobs like mind flayer, att/mag up to burst weak targets, HP up if unsure and have bombs to spare). Even though she won't be doing any damage, her damage buffs easily make up for any weak damage you might have got from Alice. Also using Satori and opening fights with something like Mind Blast and get things paralyzed helps a lot too (too bad it uses a lot of MP especially early on).

Even Byakuran with cocatrice eye using Petifry can take out most enemies once you get a feel for what isn't immune.
>>
>>15501598
Finally not to post too much, elemental weakness are also big in this game. If you know them and have a lot of enemies with them, having marisa and patcy can burst down targets in 2-3 attacks usually, so even if RNG fucks them up they go out having done their job.

Patcy using land manipulation and land buff field cards can also make heavy elemental magic bosses much easier requiring no alice to protect the party, especially those that regen when their land is high (like Iku where's most of her damage is lighting magic)
>>
>>15501615
You seem very knowledgable. I appreciate all this advice. It would help to speed up random encounters since I end up just running from the majority of them, so I'll take this advice to heart.

One more thing, and this one is really pissing me off since this game is quite obscure and getting advice for this kind of thing is impossible. How do I get the clearance skill and similar skills such as that? There's apparently a monster in the palace of earth spirits (the brown fish thing) that has it but it seems to be immune to control and even charm is hard to hit. Even if I manage to hit charm, the skill in question is used to cure permanent status so I don't think it will use it on Satori. Should I just wait till later to learn that one?

Also at the point in the game I am, what are some skills that would make Satori a good offensive presence? I have mind blast already and it's pretty damn good. Fang Crush is also making her quite useful for yukkuri hunting.
>>
>>15501785
Obscure nothing. We used to have huge threads about this game.

Learning support skills sucks. It's been awhile, but IIRC you need to charm or control the target on the turn they're going to cast the thing and hope it targets Satori. So find the big fish, poison it or something, then the next turn charm it, hope it decided to cure it's shit and hope Satori's in the way as it randomly throws it's spell at it's new friends.
It's dumb.

Satori isn't going to be a real damage-dealing powerhouse until very late in the game when she gets absurd shit like Medoroa and Meteor. You can get a very strong attack from Iku, but actually learning it and then then winning the fight is a bitch and a half.
That's fine, though. Even if she's not quite as damage-heavy as the other mages, her absurd buffs, debuffs, and healing more than make up for it. I'll stand by what I always said in the old threads; if you bother to get her good skills, Satori's the best character in the game.
>>
>>15501861
I mean obscure in the sense that I can't really google information for this game besides the wiki because it's not something that was talked about anywhere besides here. But your idea is really good. I didn't think of something so simple. I'll give it a shot. Thanks anon.
>>
>>15501890

>without using the "cheap win" strats like insta-killing Kanako or controlling Kaguya
Yup, and those battles were great. I think I used Sakuya against Kanako and Suwako because of her god-slaying sword (Youmu was my first choice but she kept insta-killing her) and a great elemental setup involving Nitori's fire attacks and Patchouli against Eirin and Kaguya.
Still haven't gotten around to doing an Alice-less run, though, but I remember seeing someone on the jay who did that so I know it's not impossible.
