Couldn't a booru be implemented using only file, folders and links?
You could put all the images in a folder and then make links in their categories, eg. rena_fucking_a_hobo.jpg would be linked in the ryuugu_rena and hobo folders.
Then you run

and it lists all the files with the same inode and pipes them to the image viewer.

This is all a lot of work for what hydrus already does locally. If you want to keep your images tidy and organized, it's your best bet. Especially since it ignores exact duplicates when importing.

I mostly use gel when I want to find something very specific due to the tag limit on dan.
When I want to find an artist, however, I almost always need to use dan because gel faggots can't be arsed to tag the artist or provide pixiv sources, and even when they do sometimes the retards can't even link it properly and you end up with a useless link.
That being said, when an artist deletes their pixiv or only uses twitter I get pissed off.

I just have my personal offline booru, which I rsync to my VPS and sync to Google Drive daily.
Google Drive is free, at least, and so are personal imageboard organizers. The only reason not to create one and start maintaining it now is inconvenience.
When I try editing tags and then saving on sank , it just boots me to the front page and doesn't actually save. Is there something different I need to do? I searched on the forums a bit and didn't see any complaints like mine.
