Chapter 8 : The clan
Sagume woke up early this morning. Chen was already awake, and greeted her.
"Take it easy Sagume !
- Take it eajy !
- Sagume can munch-munch mister food. Sagume must eat a lot if she wants to become a strong yukkuri !
- Munch-munch... Happinesh !"
The mister fruits that Chen gave to Sagume were the easiest things that she ate for a long time, miss only giving her store-bought processed food. She decided that she wouldn't go back to miss. The yukkuri clan was much easier than her pitiful pet yukkuri life, with dozens of yukkuris that only want to take it easy. She was only regretting that Reimu didn't came with her, but she was sure that she would be able to take it easy.
She and Chen went out. Outside, all the yukkuris were taking it easy. Here, some little ones were doing roll-roll under the watchful eyes of their parents. There, a Patchy was looking at the stalk on her head with tears of joy, with her husband Marisa. Two yukkuris, a Cirno and a Lily were taking babies on some high-high rides on their heads, while they were flying in the sky ! Sagume was looking at the scene with exitation. But a voice interrupted her in her thoughts. A Youmu was talking to her.
"Dosu and the council want to see Sagume myon~! Don't take it easy and follow Youmu myon~!"
Sagume executed herself. The Youmu was holding a small tree branch on her back. Sagume asked :
"What is Youmu carrying easy?
- This is Youmu's mister Hakurouken myon~! This is the best mister weapon myon~!
- Can Shagume have one ?
- Sagume can't ! Mister Hakurouken can only take it easy with Youmu myon~! If Sagume wants a weapon it can't be a mister Hakurouken myon~! Dosu's easy place is here myon~."
The place was a little cave, where a mister human can easily stand. Dosu was in the middle of the room, with the council. Patchouli was still on the big mister hat, sometimes coughing because of her weak body. The others members were sitting on dosu's side, facing the various yukkuris that were consulting them.
"Myon~ Take it easy, Dosu ! Youmu brought you little Sagume myon~ !
- Take it eajy, Dosu !
- Take it easy da ze. Youmu can leave da ze !
- Myon~ !"
Youmu left the room. For the first time, she was facing the whole council alone. She was so impressed that her mister flap-flap moved by itself, causing her some pain beacuse of the still unrecovered injury.
"Dosu thinks that Sagume can stay in the clan ze. Does Sagume wants to stay ?"
She remembered the smiling face of miss when she saw her for the first time. Her paste hearth was sad to leave her family, but she had already took her decision.
"Sagume will stay in Dosu's mister clan to take it easy with all the little ones !"
Reimu spoke:
"Sagume can't take it easy with the little ones. Sagume will have to hunt-hunt for mister food !
- Shikieiki agrees easy ! Sagume must work a lot !"
Sagume didn't understood. She was only a little one ! Her place was with the other koyukkuris, inside the clan, not with the big yukkuris !
"But Shagume can't do hunt-hunt ! Shagume is a little one and mishter work is uneajy !
- Silence ze. Sagume doesn't have an easy place da ze. She must work to have one. If Sagume do hunt-hunt, the clan will be able to take it easy, and Sagume will have an easy place da ze !
- But...
- If Sagume doesn't wants to do hunt-hunt, then Sagume can't take it easy ! Reimu will ban Sagume !
- Shikieiki agrees ! Sagume that wont work is guilty ! She can't take it easy !"
A tear rolled on Sagume's cheek. Lots of yukkuris told her that she was an uneasy yukkuri, and she ignored. But Mister council was always right. She was an uneasy yukkuri.
"Dosu ask again. Will Sagume work ze ?
- ...
- What does little one says ?
- Shagume... can't work, and Shagume will show Dosu easy !"
Dosu smiled.
"Sagume will do the easy hunt-hunt exercise with Keine da ze ! Little one can do hunt-hunt, and will be unable to show Dosu that she can't da ze !"
At those words, a yukkuri with a blue hat showed up.
"Take it easy ! Keine is Keine ! Little Sagume follow Keine and pay attention easy !"
Sagume followed Keine, after the usual greetings, and went out of Dosu's Easy place. Outside, three little ones were waiting. The first one was a Cirno, with a proud smile on her face. The second one was a Marisa, who was apparently as worried as Sagume, and the last one was a Youmu, probably the offspring of the one that took her to Dosu.
"Chake ich eajy da je. Maricha is Maricha !
- Take it easy Marisa ! Shagume is Shagume
- Atai ! Chirno ij the shtrongest !"
"Little ones, let's go easy !"
The five yukkuris left the clan, and went deep inside the forest. After several minutes hopping, Keine stopped the little ones in front of a bush. She took something from it, which appeared to be a strawberry.
"Little ones listen and learn easy ! This is mister strawberry ! Lots of Mister Strawberry trees are growing up here, so little ones get some"
The four kos began to search. Sagume found a lot of them in a near tree. She tried to eat one. It was so sweet she let out a stream of happy pee.
"Happinnesh !"
She took seven strawberries, but she was unable to resist, and only four of them were brought back to Keine. Marisa came back with three of them, while Youmu brought back six. As for Cirno, she came back with a small peeble. They did lots and lots of other exercises with Keine, such as trying to hop the faster as they can, or make the differences between easy fruits and uneasy ones. Each time, she had good results, but she was always surpassed by Youmu. As for Cirno, she always had stupid results, such as freezing a leaf instead of a mister butterfly, or stating loudly that she was the strongest at hiding during a stealth exercise.
As the night was coming, they went back to the clan, bringing back some strawberries, caterpillars, and a butterlfy caught by Youmu. The others hunters came back just after, with fruits and vegetables, which were sharen between the yukkuris in the clan. If at first Sagume was reluctant to do hunt-hunt, now she was convinced that it was really easy. She was allowed to sleep-sleep in Chen's house until she would be big enough to get her own easy place. And above all, Miss Moon came back ! Well, only a little part was visible, but it was enough to make Sagume happy.
"Yuuu ! Mish Mwoon is back ! Take it eajy Mish Mwoon ! Please grow big again and don't go back !"
She asked the council Patchouli why Miss Mwoon was gone before sleeping.
"Miss Moon grow up to be a mister circle. Then Miss Moon go away. Patchouli knows why : when Miss Moon is turning around Mister Earth, Mister shadow hide Miss Moon. It's in a mister grimoire."
Sagume didn't understood the explanation. Patchouli must have been a very smart yukkuri.
"Mukyuu... Will Sagume hunt-hunt with the others now ?
-Yu !"
For a week now her routine became the same. She was waking up early, then went with Keine to train hunt-hunt, and came back to the clan when the sun was setting. Each day she was able to hop faster, to jump higher, to find more munch-munch to bring back. She even sometimes beaten Youmu. Marisa and Cirno were also becoming better, even if Cirno was still bringing back stupid things. Even though they were often trying to beat each other, Sagume actually became friend with Youmu. The two ones were often trying to be together when they had to go by two. Marisa was also a very easy yukkuri, but she was weaker than the two. As for Cirno, she was only saying things like "Atai !", or "Strongest", but she was very nice. For Sagume, it was like she had a new family, even if she couldn't forget her sister Reimu. They were almost adult ones when the week ended. Sagume wasn't slurring her name anymore. She was also the less talkative of the group, only answering the questions that other yukkuris asked.
The 8th day was a special day. For the first time, they would go to mister town. As they left, Keine gave her some advices.
"Pay attention and learn easy ! Mister town is an uneasy place ! Don't attack mister humans, because you would drop dead easy ! Don't go on mister dark path, because uneasy monster are going very fast on it ! Understood easy ?
- Yu !
- Myon~ !
- Understood ze !
- Atai ! I'm strongest !"
The four learnt how to find food without bothering mister humans : stealing mister crispy-crispy from trashbins, avoiding mister cat and mister dog, not eating mister flowers, even if they grew on their own. They were investigating a back alley when Youmu called Sagume.
"Sagume look myon~ ! Mister paper looks like Sagume !"
The paper was lying on the ground. Lots of mister letters were written on it, that they couldn't understand, because only the smartest Patchoulis could, but the most intriguing was the picture. It looked exactly like a Sagume Yukkuri, with the same silver hairs, the same mister flap-flap... Maybe she wasn't the only one ? They didn't had the time to look more at mister paper. A Yukkuri screamed. It was Keine.
"LITTLE ONES HIDE EASY ! IT'S MISTER MAGPIE !"
The bird was flying over them. Suddendly it dashed toward Marisa and ripped a big part of her cheek.
"YUNYAAAAH ! MAWIZA IS NOT MUNCH-MUNCH ! IT HURDZ ! PLEASE SA..."
She didn't had the time to finish her sentence. The magpie took another bite of Marisa, fatally wounding her. The bird then looked at Youmu and Sagume. Marisa was the weakest and the smallest, but the two yukkuris were nearly adults ones. The beast rushed toward them, but Keine smashed into it. She had changed slightly. Her hat was gone, replaced by two horns, and her hair had turn green.
"Listen and learn easy ! Don't touch little one or drop dead easy !"
The bird responded by attacking the yukkuri teacher. Meanwhile, Youmu and Sagume had the time to hide in an empty box. They were safe. However Cirno was nowhere to be seen. Sagume was shocked. Her friend Marisa died in such an horrible way ! A tear rolled down her cheek. Youmu was trying to cheer her.
"Sagume take it easy myon~ ! Youmu and Sagume are safe here myon~"
They heard screams of pain from ouside the box. Keine was surely dying.
Sagume had to decide.
