The Toronto meetup doc didn't really work in time, so here's this.

I'm going to be at the merch tables around noon, in my maga hat. If you're /jp/, come identify yourself (itty bitty baby is the callsign) and we can make plans.

Basically once I buy merch, I'm going to unload my shit at my hotel room nearby, then go to ribfest to eat. I can adjust plans as needed, but that's the barebones idea.

God speed, anon, and good night.

Linking and repasting my post cause I didn't realize the last thread was at limit.

Fellow anon who I assume is also in Texas, I feel you. That's why I really want to go now. I missed a big chunk of the show and the chance to get any of the stuff afterwards.

It's the strangest feeling, I've been to lots of concerts of artists whom I really love to listen to all the time and am super hyped about for months before going.
Then I go see Miku and it was just completely bizarre yet natural feeling, and everything just felt so surreal and happy. I think I'm hooked on these shows now. There's just nothing else like it.

I'm actually a shut in from Arkansas. It was a struggle to go to a large city to see Miku and in the end it was really worth it. I thought just being stuck in a crowd of any kind would kill it for me, but it felt really easy to wave a glowstick around like an idiot and enjoy myself during the show. I probably won't go since the smart thing to do would be to not spend ~$1000 to go to NY, but I honestly can't shake the feeling of happiness I had in that show and feel like I have to go again. I'll probably somehow manage to hold on for the Blu-rays and rewatch it then.
>>
I've arrived at the convention centre, and there's no one here.

The merch table opens in 90 minutes, I was expecting the usual crowd of misanthropes.

More Miku, obviously. NY just looks like insanity to me though. That and the cost of going gives my head a solid case for holding off.

I think I'd be really depressed if there were no NA concerts in 2017. At least I'd be kind of happy knowing I actually did get out and see her live when I had the chance (despite missing several other chances).

How daunting is NY really?
>>
Toronto anon again, I've obtained my poster, no one from /jp/ was around.

>>
>>15262109
Yes. Flew in same day when I really should have just manned up and attempted to drive in Houston. Would allowed me to pocket that money and put it toward CHI or NY instead. That and I would of had far more freedom to load up on merch without worrying about carry on/personal item restrictions.
>>
>>15262126
NYC is just like a bigger Dallas. My plan was to not even have to bother with the city. Land in NYC, Uber to the venue and get in line, see the first show, walk somewhere for food, then get back in line for the night show, and afterwards Uber back to the airport.
>>

>>15262126
NYC's a bit intimidating but the way the roads are designed makes it very easy to get around once you know which direction you need to walk in. Plus there are tons of taxis available and police are everywhere for help/directions.

I've never been in the city later than 6pm though, so I don't know if it gets sketchy later at night. I might go straight to the hotel I have reservations at after the 8pm show depending on how it is.

I don't think I can outright avoid the city since I would be coming from Little Rock and there's not that many fight options to and from LIT. If I were to try to get in on the first show same day I would be cutting it really close to the time the doors open and I the earliest I could get out after the shows end would be like 6 AM in the morning. I can't believe I'm actually seriously considering this. At first it was hard to go now it's hard to not go.

No, NYC has been cleaned up quite a bit since 9/11, especially Midtown where we'll be. The only rough patch left in Manhattan is Spanish Harlem. Even the regular Harlem has become gentrified.

Only thing I might not suggest is to be on the subway alone after 1:00 AM. After that time, you start getting the drunks and the crazies. Triply so if you're a grill. Travel in groups, and stick together. Don't take more than you need with you, and don't put shit in your back pockets. Also, don't act lost, even if you are. Don't stare at people either, look "through" them. Other than that, there's not much else to it.

Oh, and don't forget to sign up for the mailing list at https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/miku-exponyc2016/join so we can all keep each other in the loop.

I think they feed off the energy from the crowd. Like, they were really good in Dallas but felt lazier in Houston, and there was a big difference in the audience for those two shows. I mean, if you think about it, touring can't really be that hard. They play for 30 minutes once or twice a week? Sounds pretty easy.

The best ones are the ones that are more suggestive than out-and-out lewd, because what your imagination can do with a little leeway is almost always better than stuff that's explicitly sexual.

Songs like
>World is Mine
>Envy Catwalk
>Cat Food
>Romeo and Cinderella
>Two-Faced Lovers
etc.

What are Miku's best lewd songs anyway? More "I'm your princess, do what I want"/femdom-esque would be appreciated.

>>
>>15261298
I like some of them. I usually have no problem with them, I would only have a problem if they have crappy music behind it. Umetora does it the best I think, while Deadball goes out of his way to be extra edgy. Masa is somewhere in the middle.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmKczWhb534
Video related is my favorite though, for obvious reasons.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AoVFZ95_b8

I like that they exist, so they can piss of the christianfags and purityfags that think Vocaloid is some vacuum sealed bubble where it keeps "American pop music away."

The only stuff that's perverted that bothers me is incest stuff, especially the onii chan bullshit. And lolicon/shotacon. Too much of that around. Oh and really shoddy MMD videos that go with it or PVs like the crapfest that was the fanmade World is Mine video.

Also the stupid fact when people reduce Male Vocaloids as disgusting perverts. Stupid fanon assumptions.

That and when they use perverted Vocaloid videos as clickbait in another video looking at you AkiDearest

They only handed out green glowsticks at the venue.

Not everyone laid out extra cash for pink glowsticks.

Yeah this. And it doesn't help that I heard the Mikuexpo 2016 glowsticks were sold out in Seattle, I mean like why the fuck would you stock so little.

We VIPs were given another glowstick, sligthly bigger than the regular green one. There were like 5 different colors. I picked pink.

Man that sucks, you from NJ? Definitely catch some Zs on the train. I suggest you to take a side trip to a discount store called Jacks located at 110 W 32nd St and pick up a Arizona Energy Shot for $1 or Monster drinks for $2. For something less intense grab an Energy Vitamin water for $1.29. Just make sure you finish the drinks before going into the venue or you'll have to lose em. Good luck anon and sorry bout the predicament you're in.

I'm from CT and have tickets for a train in the morning on Saturday. There's going to be a couple hours between the time I can check in at the hotel to drop my stuff off so I'll probably get a couple coffees.

Is it possible to buy merch after the midday concert instead or would most of it be sold out by then? I don't think it'd be a bad idea to swing by the Hammerstein since it's so close to the train station.
>>
>>15267008
>Is it possible to buy merch after the midday concert instead or would most of it be sold out by then?

Going by my experience from the 2014 show you can buy the merch after the midday concert only if you were going to that concert and not the night one.

>I can check in at the hotel to drop my stuff off so I'll probably get a couple coffees.

Sounds good man, take it easy and again good luck!

It won't matter. I was sick, had to clear an entire airport twice, and never really had a chance to eat anything for dinner, and I was still somehow managing to wave a glowstick around like an idiot til the very end with some breaks, alternating hands, and cheating every now and then.

That's how you know it's gonna be a blast! No city knows how to have a good time quite like the Big Apple.

Also, regarding Uber: I wouldn't recommend it. NYC is not what you'd call a "car friendly" city. Rates are expensive, traffic is nightmarish, and delays are common. I once spent two whole hours on a bus just trying to get *out* of the city.

You should seriously look into taking the subway system. You're only charged a small, flat fee per trip, and it's much faster. Plot out your path ahead of time, and stick with it. The Hammerstein Ballroom is best accessible from the New York Penn Station stop.
>>
>>15259995
Meetup anon here.
I'm really sorry I couldn't update it, I had a big family emergency and spent the day in Burlington, so I didn't know if I was going to be able to make it back in time, but I just got in when Amanaguchi started playing.
Anyone else noticed people bringing BJD's to concert? Kinda stupid considering how expensive they are to be carrying them around at that kind of event.
>>
Does the 2014 Miku Expo DVD have different angles of the show you can watch? Just curious about what all to expect from the 2016 one. I'd like it if you could watch just the stage with no cuts to the audience or anything.

I guess the way it'd go is to get on the EWR AirTrain -> EWR Station -> NY Penn Station -> Walk. If I can get a decent arrival time I might be able to sync it up so I won't be waiting around too long though I fear I might end up stuck in the back of the line by the time I get to Hammerstein.
>>
>>15267699
It cuts around on its own. There's no option to lock the camera so to speak.

It does a fine job. The rare cuts to audience are actually quite funny.

I'm buying the 2016 one as soon as it's announced, so don't worry about quality. It's well worth it.

>>15267902
I have a rip of the 2014 show, but now that I think about it, I guess I should buy it, too.

Man the QA period at the film festival was fucking painful.

Also, people need to learn the definition of a question.

>>
>>15268027
>>15268004
After watching an hour of videos that explicitly state that miku is the icon of future technology and people interacting etc etc, some dipshit stands up during the QA and asks itoh exactly that.

Then there's the people whispering from the back row, and then there was the people asking philosophical questions that A: don't translate and B: are a waste of time.

Guys who try to look like girls: not okay.
Guys who are just wearing a skirt for the laugh: totally fine.
In Houston, there was this bigger Mexican dude, like at least 240lbs and his legs looked like he was wearing black wool stockings, but he was with his friends and they were just having fun. He had blue and white striped boxers and pantsu flashed people. It was funny.

I'm glad Anime North is next week, no way I was going to spend $40 on a poster. I already spent enough on the Pledge Music event, convinced myself $60 for an autographed 8Prince CD was worth more than a glow stick.

I can see where y'all are coming from. I'm sure most crossplayers don't actually get off on the fact that they're wearing skirts. Of course there's always exceptions. But I've always seen it in a more innocent way in that they just want to show support and have fun.

What do you normally wear to concerts such as this?

Weekender Girl was awesome. Snowman was probably my least favorite moment. I'm sorry KAITO, but even my favorite song of yours pales in comparison to everything else.

Mostly agree with this. Constantly bothers me when generic VOCAROCK/Jrock makes up the majority of the Vocaloid rankings or songs that get recognition.
Only good vocarock to me is otetsu, maya, natsuP, nekobolo, machigerita, whoo, yuyoyuppe, uzP, wintermute and keeno. I usually stay away from mainstream Jrock type songs and go listen anywhere to hard rock to metal, shoegaze, visual kei, soft rock and post rock.

40mp, Deco, ryo (although i find egoist and other non Vocaloid songs more interesting), last note, honeyworks, 164, devilishP, Jin, buzzG, neru, manbo and others to bore me.

All in all, I still prefer electronic music.
