Touhou mods exist for Brawl. Many of them are alternate costumes for the existing characters. However over time many movesets have been made for the characters that better fit the touhou characters. With the advent of modding tools such as BrawlEX you can add characters without replacing an existing one. So you can have a modpack full of 2hus with their own stats and movesets.
Somebody went as far to import Marisa from Touhou 13.3.

Any Touhou Smash game is unlikely to be half as good as Smash is just by virtue of budget and skill, yet an ideal version should be able to incorporate Touhou-specific elements and mechanics and feel like Touhou.
Mods, although cool, just can't replicate those things as far as I know and thus aren't what should be aspired to. The lack of Touhou feel is why groups will and I think should keep trying to make a Touhou Smash from the ground up.

Brawl and Project M are almost the same game. With the exception of a few mods everything is completely compatible between the two.

All you really need to do is just make a move-set that relies mainly on projectiles, has a smaller but more center hit box, and has an in game weight around -25 to 50.
Projectiles can be reconfigured to heal players 1 % if they staff the bullet, this would allow for strafing to be added in the game.
I don't know how to program the hit boxes or strafing. But I know it is possible. Your best bet is to work on an overhaul mod for brawl much like project M. But centered around touhou.

I am modding it. However making a touhou mod that is JUST touhou is not in my interests.
Projectiles that don't cause hitstun, better aerial movement too. If danmaku is too boring for individual attacks, make special moves also throw out a few 1% damaging bullets as well.
Maybe even some sort of integration of strafing and wavedashing. Maybe wavedashing at the right time lets you graze projectiles but makes you more vulnerable in other ways.

Alternatively air dodging projectiles would work better since you can do it any where and a wave dash is just a special kind of air dodge just glitched and extended on the ground.

I created the thread because I saw this >>15144617 . Being active in the smash bros modding community I know many good touhou mods that exist for brawl so I created this thread to talk about mods. I did not want people talking about the fan game since it had its own thread at the time, now it is 404ed so I see some confusion.
For example both the Scarlet Devil Mansion and Harukie Shrine have been made their own stages.
