For one I am happy that he no longer does any Touhou doujins. But on the other hand it displeases me because then he proceeds to shit upon other franchises.

Is this franchise still huge? Been out of the loop

Back at the very beginning I thought that the franchise was going to have rich potential as a storytelling vehicle, kind of like Touhou Project.

More fool me.

>>15211866
it's full of rich secondary storytelling just like 2hu

I'd buy her, bring her home to the states, and have lots of half ethnic kis

>>15212518
It's good enough for character-based comedy the same way that anything with 100+ girls is, but with Touhou Project you can at least pretend that the story you're telling has some depth to it.

The fuck are her tits, Takao is supposed to be a tittymonster.

I only care about Kancolle as fap material

I feel like ships just don't really have a good setting for storytelling most of the time. The open sea gets pretty repetitive.

Usually a Japanese ship's life in the navy got to be pretty boring too, with some exceptions. They would either get hit and were forced to stay at harbors for months at a time, outright get destroyed without being able to do anything in return (like the Fuso), ran escort/skirmish missions without much happening, or were really never used until the end of the war. There are big naval battles of course, but the nature of naval warfare of crossing T's and engaging at a distance rarely makes for exciting moments to portray in doujin.

You can plaster cute girls all over it, but rarely do actual works portraying a ship's life get put out. Sex sells way more in this case, I guess.

Sailing around the sea is like flying around the sky, it's more of a backdrop than a story. I guess if you were to continue the analogy, naval combat would stand in for danmaku battle - the context is pretty different but at the end of the day it's a way to spice up a story with a bit of action, and honestly a lot of Touhou doujinshi get away with none at all.

>Usually a Japanese ship's life in the navy got to be pretty boring too, with some exceptions. It's not so much I want a reenactment of the Pacific War as much as that it seems like it would be a gold mine for psychological or character drama. If you pick basically any Touhou Project character they've got a backstory that lends itself to thoughtful references and unique perspectives, whether it's adapted from mythology or all-original. For the fleet girls that "backstory" would be their service history, but I feel like a lot of time that gets used only for gags or as a cheap reference. To be perfectly honest, some people do it well. LETRA did a lot of good stuff with Touhou Project and their Kancolle doujinshi are also second to none. It just seems like that the people who take advantage of that are few and far between, whereas with Touhou you can't swing a cat without running into a thoughtful line or deep connection even in most gag comedy.

To be honest my opinion of the whole series is probably colored by the fact that I'm reading the wrong stuff or just hanging around the wrong people. The game itself is about as boring as I imagine navy life would actually be but most people I encounter on 4chan don't seem interested in that the same aspects as me.

Oh that shithead. Didn't he turn out to be a Rape of Nanking denier or something.

Did he ever figure out how to draw sequential art because the trash he put out for Touhou felt like kid with bad ADHD having downed a dozen pixie sticks with how much it jumped around

Still good riddance to that clown.
