Is there any iidx sim that tries computing a chart from a music track you choose, like audiosurf or stepmania does?

No because bms are keysounded
>>

All autogen charts in any game are automatically garbage.

Autogen keysounds are impossible.

Also Audiosurf isn't rhythmically interesting and autogenerated stepmania charts are fucking garbage.
>>
>>15212794
>Autogen keysounds are impossible.
Assuming you only hit one note at a time, each keysound could just be a naive chunk of the music. It would probably be really bad and uninteresting, but it's something.

it depends on how much you play really
I know one guy who got to 48s in like 6 months
but I started at the beginning of the year and I'm at ~39 or so.

Just a heads up: chart ratings at 38-40 are total bullshit and are really inconsistent.
>>
>>15214295

>>
>>15213295
Is that even possible to beat? Konami lost their fucking mind.
>>
>>15214387
I play on AC data, I can usually score from 80-86k on charts that I'm comfortable with, if I'm playing something thats not exactly in my comfort zone (as in my ability to clear will fluctuate) than I'll usually get from like 75-79k on it.
>>
>>15214451
Then don't take a break for a month.

Day or two is fine.

Hi I became a normalfag since I stopped playing Rhythm games, and recently found some time and wanted to get back to playing. Aside from games like ITG and PIU, I really enjoy games like o2jam. I have never played Popn aside from in Japan, same with beatmania. Is there a way to get a controller for popn or beatmania to run on my pc? Is it cheap? What is the game in the OP picture? How do I play that?

I remember I was at a convention once, and there was a rhythm game on an ipad that looked like the game in the OP, what is that called?
>>
>>15214756
The game in the OP is called Jubeat. You can get controllers for this stuff in a few different places but the most common is probably gamo2 (though their en website has been down for a bit I think).

>that moment you realize Rock Band is actually harder than IIDX

Look at this. It's the hardest song in Rock Band 4, and it looks absolutely insane.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lp6Q4iGqjIM

Not to mention playing it in Breakneck Speed mode, where the notes go so fast you can barely see them. As the guys at IGN say, "this mode is only for the hardest of the hardcore".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOBIQ9WPrEM

Can Japanese rhythm games even compete?
>>
>>15215007

o shi i could hardly see those notes go by, 3fast5me
>>
>>15210014

I don't understand the maneuver he just pulled.

Don't you have to physically press the square as the notes come up? It looks like he just magic'd his hand over the whole thing and called it a day. Is this game touch screen based or are those buttons? I know the Dao controller is like transparent buttons.

Who even knows.
>>
>>15215135

Jubeat's timing windows are wider than Pump's (lol) and the buttons aren't the clicky kind. You can just kind of brush your hand over the pattern quickly and it works out most times.
>>
How are people getting their hands on prop anyway?

Can't seem to find anything about it from the animal farm. (unless its on some obscure chinese website or something similar)

So is the dao a faithful recreation of the arcade experience or not?

Shit's like 500 bucks to get into including the monitor you need. I'm not dropping that kinda cash if it's not arcade accurate.
>>
>>15215532
I have the dao & monitor and get scores on my setup similar to those I get on a cab. If you're asking if the ASC feels like the cab, then yeah, it's an ASC so of course it does. The dao buttons just feel a little lighter imo.

HOLY FUUUUCK!
>>
>>15215532
Where do you even ge the monitor? I don't see it for sale together with the buttons.
>>
>>15216448
Even at 2.5x it's not particularly dense or difficult. The only difficulty comes from the fact that there's no proper speed mod, so he's reading at a GN of like 230.

If the notes slowed down but he was still running at 2.5x it's be relatively trivial.
>>
>>15215135
He probably hit a bunch of the other buttons too when he palmed it. I think he 'gets away with it' here because there's no other notes appearing in the bottom left area.

Europe does not have Round1 and D&B.
European laws grey area this kind of thing.

Yes, arduino, or an arcin, or one of those zero-delay boards you find on ebay.
>>
>>15220888
You could join PSUN if your country didn't have official e-amuse service.

So yes, this includes Yurop.

Technically they're kind of justified in excluding the US, as Round1 is (technically) official e-amuse service in the US, although it's actually just a VPN back to Osaka.
>>
Is it worth getting into Keyboardmania? I like the idea of a rhythm game where you play with a real instrument, but the series being dead makes it seem like I'd only be heartbroken if I end up liking it.

Konami probably thinks we're a jungle wasteland. They'll never set up their stuff here. I also have dual citizenship so I'm technically european too. I think I might try to force my way in on this.

Is it worth owning your own ddr machine/ itg cab or is a pad and stepmania combo just fine?

Anyone here own their own machine that give some insight to this purchase. I'm thinking whether to just buy a machine or just find one of those rare dance pads that'll cost $400 to get....

Owning a machine seems like a good choice but converting a ddr machine to use stepmania seems expensive as well
>>
>>15222029
you can find a ddr machine for the same price as a secondhand blueshark or cobalt flux.
if you're cheap, you can just hook the pad up to an ipac and it'll work fine with a pc.
if you want lights to work, you'll need a minimaid which is considerably more expensive.
>>
Since we're talking about DDR machines, can you adjust their sensitivity or something? I see japs barely touching the arrows and the game registers but at my arcade you have to really force it, making high level play suicide.

Don't know if it's a shitty machine or the guys in charge are just assholes.

Or I'm just bad at the game and don't know how to properly step on them.
>>
>>15222078
>shitty machine

>>
>>15222029
You could get a pad off precisiondancepads.com, but I'm not sure about getting a good bar.

Their pads are also *easier* to trigger than at the arcade, making bracketing a bit too easy to do.

The chart is unchanged from its first appearance in CS 4th. The note placement is so utterly void of logic that some people think it was charted with the idea that DP was meant for 2 players. At 917 notes, it falls a bit short of 1000, but still secures a spot as a high tier 12. Currently double fisting Pop'n and SDVX. Taking soul searching break over IIDX. Not sure if I even want to try to continue since I played AC data.

Also play SM on occasion. Was super big into it a year or so ago but that's waned as have my skills. That extremely high end Korean tier level of skill deteriorates FAST if you don't play.

In terms of how often I play
Pop'n (main) > ITG (I go to the arcade like once a week to play) > Stepmania/FFR (not really playing that often anymore) > osu!memeia (like maybe once a month and only play 4k anyway)

I find keyboard rhythm games to be pretty boring these days.

I'd like to play SDVX and PIU, but I don't live next to an arcade that has either and I don't have pads for either. I plan on stop being a NEET soon so I can buy controllers and a DDR cab, so I might get stuff to PIU, SDVX and maybe other rhythm games if I want to.

American devs just keep lowering the skill level with each game and the worst part is no one complaining.

IIDX works for extreme casuals who'll enjoy level 3 songs and hardcore autists playing crazy shit.

I don't know why americans aren't pandering to both sides.

>>15232509
American rhythm games aren't following the arcade model. They are trying to sell as many units as they can, so games like Rock Band are made easy to appeal to the casual demographic. Japanese rhythm games (at least the arcade ones) want you to continually spend money, so they purposefully have a higher skill ceiling to get you to keep playing.

>Many charts are super easy, just barely harder than a 10 until the super dense, all of a sudden hard stream at the end or middle

>>
>>15233510

Just power through. Keep playing 9s until you start beating them. It's not endgame high level stuff so you don't really need an elaborate strategy. Don't think too much about it.

Use http://statistik.benhgreen.com/ratings?difficulty=9

To see the harder and easier level 9s

>Speed numbers

Just play at a speed you're comfortable with. I'd recommend going faster and faster with time to improve your reaction and reflexes and because endgame stuff at low speeds look like a nightmare with notes cluttered together.

Is speed/bpm just a preference in SDVX? I'm getting to the hard 14s/early 15s and I'm getting destroyed, thought speeding it up from 450 bpm would help but I can't tell if I'm just not used to it or it's something else.

Recommended bpm if that's not the case?

450's pretty slow for 15s. It's preference for the most part but reading is significantly easier at higher multipliers. I personally use 900-950 but something like 600-800 should be fine as well.

I just got into StepMania like a week ago. Using Moonlight theme and Delta note skins based off some streamer's recommendations.

For songs I've been playing Otaku's Dream pad packs (mostly anime OPs/EDs with a few other things thrown in). I can play just about all the songs fine on Medium, with a handful doable on Hard and I found one I could beat on Expert. I played the game when I was really little, but it's definitely easier when using letters instead of arrow keys. I've been using sf jl and stretching my fingers over the one key gap. This felt the best to me.

I told this streamer guy I was getting pretty good at what I had already and then he recommended me Sharpnelstream. I put it into the game and even on Medium all the tracks had difficulties of 10 or higher and step counts over 1000. What I wanna know is, was I memed into trying impossible shit, or was I just an unaware casual to start with? Also looking for general recommendations for StepMania songpacks, tips, etc. How long will it take me to git gud? I can play Expert Guitar and Bass in the Guitar Hero / Rock Band games. Kind of garbage at Taiko. That's most of the rhythm games I've played.

i dont you were exactly "memed", i don't think the guy who recommended you that file knew what skill level you were at. sharpnel streamz is a pretty popular hard pad pack, everything in their was made for players who've been playing on pad for years. if you're just starting off, it will take a while before you're able to play any of the stuff in there.

I'm not sure what your playstyle is like, are you like using your index fingers and just moving them from s f j l? that's a weird playstyle and it'll probably stop you from playing actually harder stuff. there are 2 types of playstyles that people play on keyboard, index (using your index fingers on the arrow keys) which people play pad packs with, and spread (which is usually using index+middle fingers on both hands on keys like SDKL for left-down-up-right)

index style: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCZeI5XXG7Q

spread: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khsqwRImSTU

here's a link that should help you for finding packs to play

http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/vbz/showthread.php?t=133223

if you can i would download a lot of the packs which sound interesting to you and seeing what you can play and what you can't. if you have any more questions feel free to ask .

So apparently, you can adjust the timing on IIDX. After a little fiddling, Pendual is extremely playable. In fact, it feels like arcade IIDX is actually a little more forgiving than LR2 in terms of groove gauge. It's revived my love of the game.

Also, as a side note. I find the ambiance of Pendual unsettling. That woman announcer that coldly tells me what to do in an omniscient, echoing voice. It feels like some form of future containment facility. Definitely some Logan's Run type of vibes.

-0.3. The notes go to the music now which is cool. Actually makes it a rhythm game.

During my experimenting, I went all the way from -0.8 to +0.8. I'd do better on one song and worse on another. Was starting to think it was all in my head.
>>
>>15239128
>-0.3. The notes go to the music now which is cool. Actually makes it a rhythm game.
The offset does not change the audio at all. It only affects the position of the notes relative to the red line. Negative makes the notes appear earlier/lower (meaning you have to hit the notes later relative to the visuals), and positive makes the notes appear later/higher (you have to hit the notes earlier relative to the visuals).

>Was starting to think it was all in my head.
It probably was, especially since you think it affected the audio. -0.3 is a pretty small change equivalent to a 5 millisecond offset from the default, and the default is technically something like -4.0 or something since the game already has a bunch of built in latency mitigation. -0.3 is unlikely to affect you much unless you're the kind of player that regularly gets over 95% on things.
>>
Does anyone have jhlee stepmania noteskin? Or can remake it?
>>
>>15239197

If you have to hit a note later to get the same judgement, that would still affect how you time it relative to the music.

Before I made the adjustment, I had to hit the key right around where the note passed the judgement words to get a P.Great. Now I hit them when they cross the line.

It's definitely better.
>>
>>15239309
>If you have to hit a note later to get the same judgement, that would still affect how you time it relative to the music.
It's only relative to the visuals. The judgement windows relative to the audio never change.

>Before I made the adjustment, I had to hit the key right around where the note passed the judgement words to get a P.Great. Now I hit them when they cross the line.
-0.3 is a sub-frame difference. I doubt you play with a scroll rate such that the notes are visible for 3 frames total. At least you're talking about visuals now, though.

>It's definitely better.
I'm glad you're enjoying the game.
>>
>>15239319
>The judgement windows relative to the audio never change.
Unless you make a change to your system that increases or decreases the amount of audio latency. Obviously you can't have audio that plays early, though, since that would mean the game is predicting your inputs.

Literally only 12 people have snatched that. This isn't a busy tracker esp. with stuff like this, just be patient.
>>
>>15239197

I have a follow up question. How do you know that -0.3 is equivalent to 5ms? I didn't really know what units were involved with that adjustment but I'm guessing it's frames. So .3 of 16.67 would be around 5.

But this seems silly as it's impossible to move something earlier or later by fractions of a frame.

I'm just incredulous that Bemani would include a literally useless adjustment in their game. Not calling you a liar or misinformed or anything.
>>
>>15241282
You're correct that the adjustment is in number of frames. It accomplishes sub-frame changes by moving the notes up or down a fraction of the distance a note moves in one frame for any given scroll rate. Since this is only a visual change, the internal judgement remains locked to integer frames. It's not 5ms in any real sense, but it's 5ms with how the player interprets the visuals.

There is a noticeable difference that I can feel with 0.5 increments, so it's not entirely useless. I only do adjustments smaller than that if I am really convinced that my ideal offset is somewhere between two 0.5 increments. I sometimes see people wiggling around with 0.1 increments between songs and I'm entirely convinced that it's just placebo at that level, especially since those players tend to not be very good anyway.

I'm new to sows (900 mb down)so take this advice lightly (since its probably shit, also wtf is EDL)

Besides making sure that deluge is optimized for uploading shit, it's pretty much hit or miss if you get any upload at all, since every dl has a risk that no one will take it.

What I'm doing is just idling in the irc and waiting for someone to upload something. When something us uploaded, I check if the album/whatever is something that has a chance of being popular. I think there is like a 3 minute wait period where no one can download or upload,I may be wrong in this.

If you haven't done so yet, go check out the free leech and see if you can get any upload from there, don't expect much since there is normally like 100+ people for each torrent, but if you do, then you'll know it's not the program but rather your internet (or maybe someone just hates you and snatches everything that you snatch)

Also don't go for lossless albums (a big mistake that I made)since you rarely will make profit from it because more people tend go for mp3 320. (As far as I've noticed)

I'm assuming you are new as well so I just want to say take it slow, sure you might get power user before the end of the month, but you'll be taking a lot of risks to rush your total upload. Tbqh, every new torrent that comes out holds a risk that you will not get much upload from it.

I'm confused of what the cluster fuck that is ratio management, but I am enjoying every moment of it especially when the torrent you got manages to get past 1.0 ratio.
