I she is quite something. I like her a lot however see why most dolls tend to have a fringe. While I kind of like her 5head in sense of a cute 'flaw' are there any similar doll heads that don't have quite such a pronounced forehead?
>>
>>15132994
Thanks, some neat stuff there.
>>
has any company made a 1:12 version of cat keyhole lingerie yet?
>>
>>15133102

I think it's because she has a DDH01 head, which is often meant to be children's head, and subsequently have a bigger forehead.

Most of the other DD heads seem to have more adult proportions and probably smaller foreheads.

Outfit on left, doll on right. I also got some matching horns from the same company. I'm a little concerned about quality (I kind of jumped like an idiot due to a sale but most reviews I've seen of the company online have been favorable).

I also have slowly fallen more in love with anime style dolls while waiting for her to ship and might pick up one of the Lutz dolls/heads later that were the same size.

Ok so that's a somewhat reasonable price for M.O.M.O as there is one on Mandarake for about US$765 but that's not including freight.

Normally we tell people to avoid ebay because it's riddled with scalpers who mark prices up ridiculously but it seems you've found an actual legitimate seller.

One of my dolls came from ebay actually. Found her lost in a sea of resellers though.
>>
>>15134707
if you live in europe, i think she's still for sale brand new on tokyo otaku mode for cheaper. they don't have the license to sell her to every country, so you'll have to check.

there's also a momo on mandarake. still cheaper.

The guide I read online said if I'm going to introduce a new doll into the house that she should be much younger than the resident doll/s to invoke their maternal instincts, otherwise the residents may view the new arrival as a threat and possibly either bully, harass, disown or potentially even kill it.

I thought they were just exaggerating because I'd never had any problems before but then this shit happened. Unnamed-chan was torn to pieces by the others overnight while I slept and this what I was greeted by when I woke up.

I'm so fucking devastated and angry right now. The part I'm really concerned about is there are parts of the corpse missing. Am I going to put a slipper on and find a dehydrated leg? Or have they eaten it? They left the body right where I'd find it first thing too. As if they were sending me a message.

Is that really how that's meant to sit on the body? That bottom just doesn't look right at all.

You bought DDDy shit again didn't you.

For the love of fucking god use the autofocus function on your potato, learn to hold it steady and get Irfanview so you can resize your shit. For a show-and-tell you really don't need more than ~1024 wide or high. The only time you really need anything bigger is for a dedicated photography shoot which you're not doing.

I'm not telling you to stop taking and sharing pictures but these utterly simple steps will make your life both here and on /toy/ so much easier since we'll mostly stop laughing at you.

Man the Calgary Comic Expo was great! I guess there was some drama here while I was gone?

Anyhoo I got some stuff and my girls got some stuff. Cookie got a few cool things but I will wait for her eyes before posting. Maple got a Lord of the Rings Elven Leaf necklace. Cherry got a belt, Strawberry got a skull hair clip.

But the artist of the webcomic Sam and Fuzzy was there! and I commissioned a drawing of Waffles! I think it is amazing and adorable it now hangs on my wall!

A janitorette decided it was time to have the painter in and took it out on all my qualityposting and everyone who replied to it.

Love the drawing man. Been trying to get someone to draw my dolls for months now and it doesn't seem to matter how many blank cheques I wave in people's faces nobody seems to be capable of coming up with the goods. I don't know if I'm being too forward or if telling someone to charge me by the hour at no less than what is a fair wage for a skilled worker in their country is considered rude?

Besides that, trying to get this furry little retard to sit still long enough for a decent photo is beyond me.
>>

But then I have to set foot into the artists territory to find them and well that never ends well for anyone involved. I'm just not an artsy type.

Maybe there's such a thing as too much freedom for artists? I thought it would be a good idea to just provide character traits (hair style + colour, height, general build, basic personality type, etc) and ask the artist to create whatever they felt like using that as a base. Artists are all about feelies and limpwristed shit like that, right?

I'm a builder, I make things exactly as requested, creative expression just isn't something I can understand. I also can't understand why they never get back to me. I got half a sketch done by one of them and seems like he's lost interest. Not even the lure of a wad of cash got him on the hook.

Thanks. I have also been thinking about getting art of my girls for months. Every time I see an artist doing commissions I have considered it.

I have been a fan of Sam Logans art for years its unique and fun. So when I saw he was doing commissions at the show had to get one done. I left everything up to him the only request I made was that Waffles be somewhere in the image because that's her name. Also another nice thing about having it done at the show is I have the real drawing.

If I get art of my other girls I think Maple and Tofu will be problematic. Like will Maple just have a bottle of syrup? And who knows what Tofu will have.

>>15153717
While I know I have much to learn I also know some of the problem is my tastes are different then most people here. I am glad you are happy with your girl but I would never put one of my girls in that, it just does not appeal to me.

Two of yours points you need to take up with Volks. I however like the plaid.

A common theme of discomfort that I get from most of your photos:

All have this problem? I been trying to work on that and I think these look better then older images. I mean they are not perfect like Waffles hand on her hip is all wrong in that image. But I thought Cherry resting her hand on her gutar looks cool as hell.

>unfocused/weirdly focused eyes
I have been takeing a number of photos and picking the best one but I am still missing. Maybe I should try some more photos were the girl is not looking at the camera. My favourite image of Cake she is not looking at the camera.

>unnatural-looking hair
A new complaint. Not sure what to say about it.

>all-over-the-place clothing coordination
Comment is not advice and is indistinguishable from personal preference or actual style problems.
>>

The new red eyes are cool! But I'm rather biased in that regard.

I think one problem with Cherry's outfit is to do with the baggy hoodie. It obscures her waist, which wouldn't be too bad except it's also so long that it also interferes with the pleated skirt's lines. The original Nanami outfit had a coat, but it was shorter so her skirt still has that poof outward, y'know? It obscures her girlish figure.
Also I personally hate shirts tucked under skirts. Absolutely haram. Aside from >>15136892

A huge thank you to the anon that took time out of there day to photoshop all of the Lizanna eyes into Cookie's grumpy little face. You were a huge help in turning Cookie from a unused head in a box too an adorable grumpy little witch! I am super sorry I was not more helpful with measurements but your work was spot on!

Now beyond her fantastic eyes she has a larger Witch hat and necklace. I got both at the Calgary Expo, both booths were very helpful as they changed things to fit and match her colours!

I also got that glowing tree ball from the Expo also it looks super neat.

That said she has no shoes and she needs some desperately any links to Obitsu 50 shoes that would look nice with be very helpful as i guess i cant be trusted with picking them. plus i just cant find any.

It wasn't until about 5 years later that I could actually afford dolls of my own, but as soon as I could buy some I did. lol no. Only one that holds traction on is Cherry trying too hard to fit in where she doesn't belong but her Master is learning and will fix that shortly. Hopefully.

In other news I was going through my old photo collection and saw pictures I took in the days after I brought Mei home and I haven't cringed so hard in my life. There's a bunch of people always doing doll drawings on the various bjd facebook groups. I am curious though, are you asking for ecchi or anything like that? A lot of artists on Tumblr are 17 year old girls it seems and are very uncomfortable with that kind of stuff.

>>
>>15169460
>I am curious though, are you asking for ecchi or anything like that?

Nope. All I'm asking for is a portrait made in the artists preferred style using basic character traits and a general idea of the expression. Which is why I was wondering if too much freedom was a bad thing since it leaves the artist to think for themselves which is never a good thing.

>It looks like the wrists themselves would be the same size
Are you sure, I considered doing the same with DDs and it seemed like 1/4 would be more appropriate

>I'm not sure about how the DK joints would work with the Smartdoll body.
kinda like pic related I imagine, you won't be able to attach their wrists to SD arms

If you ever try please post here so I know how retarded I am before I try anything similar
>>
>>15179081
Are you guys talking about putting a resin hand on a smart doll body?

Because that's not going to work, ever. One is strung with elastic ball joints, the other is an action figure.
>>
>>15179134
>Because that's not going to work, ever.
Yeah but why?

>One is strung with elastic ball joints, the other is an action figure.
I realize that
>>
>>15179144
You would need to string the hand to the smart doll body, which has a plastic frame inside it, which means you can't string it.

Have you ever seen a BJD get strung before? You CANNOT string a smart doll and thus you CANNOT attach a resin hand to a smart doll body.
>>
>>15179834
>You would need to string the hand to the smart doll body, which has a plastic frame inside it,
Of course I know that
>which means you can't string it.
But why exactly?

I realize they're attached in a completely different way normally, I don't know what's wrong with the method of attachment I proposed (using the hollow part of the wrist as a hook), the only ways it wouldn't work out I can think of is
>the wrist doesn't fit in the hand (or just not well enough to allow enough space for the elastic)
>i simply won't be able to attach the elastic to it
Both of which are likely I guess, but not "it's not going to work ever" tier

>Have you ever seen a BJD get strung before?
Have you seen the picture I attached to my post? (the red strings are supposed to be elastic)

> You CANNOT string a smart doll
Of course I know that, that's why I'm thinking about a roundabout way like that
>>
>>15179907
I believe it would be possible to have strung jointed fingers on a DD. However, there are not any configurations of existing parts that would work. I don't believe your mockup would work, because of both of the reasons you already hypothesized.

At best, if there exists jointed hands that are roughly the same size as DD hands, and a close colour match, you would have to design and fabricate new wrist parts.

>>
>>15183061
For me it's the day they're complete. But if the doll in question regularly swaps body with another doll then it's a different matter I guess.
>>
>>15179081
A few things, from someone who has put jointed hands together before. One, that is not how they're strung. The string is one continuous loop that goes up and down each finger. You can't tie each finger individually like that.

Two, how are you going to get in there to loop the threads around the wrist part? There's no space and the tension is going to be too tight to pull it apart.

Three, you're assuming that a jointed hand has enough room inside for a DD wrist part. It does not. Think of how you have to squeese a soft vinyl DD hand over it until it pops into place. Bjd hands are not soft, and have to be cast thicker. There's less hollow space inside. I don't think even the biggest jointed hands for 70cm male dolls will fit (and they'd look awful besides).

You just don't know enough about these jointed hands to keep swearing that they will work.

Way to kill the thread jerkwad.

I will give Fashion-kun credit where credit is due and the new eyes that Cherry and Cookie have completely changed how they look at it's a massive improvement.

And I don't know if it's through the power of perseverance or photoshop but all his girls seem to now have nice tidy hair and again credit will be given where credit is due.

The wardrobe situation is improving and I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume most of the challenges he has are caused by a lack of choices and a lack of money to acquire new choices.

Being a master is not a natural skill for everybody and some people take longer to learn it than others. I look back at the photos I took of my first doll the day she came home and die of embarrassment. I want to delete them so bad but they're precious memories and I just can't.

Depends on how stylized or how much you want to spend, but the only one I can think of off the top of my head was a limited one from Ringdoll. Still available new at Angelesque, though.
>>
>>15197364
1/3 Coffin sound easier to make than dresses. Though I guess it depends on if you want a basic wooden style or something filled with details.

Does anyone here make their dolls clothes?

I do. There's actually a decent amount of patterns out there for them, and once you get the hang of it you can work out custom ones.

I can barely coordinate an outfit, much less make one. I do wish I had the skills or even the ability to acquire the skills though and admire the people who do.

First release Miku seems to be in stock, so I guess it's quite possible that Snow Miku will be available again in the future.
>>

Most pre-order dolls are bought in droves by scalpers. You'll likely be able to find her at or near MSRP on Mandarake and Y!JA for a while.

Pretty sure it's SQ Labs. They had a tan-skinned loli dolly available for some time years ago.

It isn't. It's a dyed MDD.

Why dye it without adding tan lines. That is completely missing the point of tans!

I do! Well I started with making clothes about a month ago so I'm still a beginner. Here's a dress I made over the last couple of days. Had the chance to fool around on someone's sewing machine that has a lot of decorative stitches.
Sorry for the large photo and the squiggly lines on the fabric.
>>
>>15204257
Looks clean and simple. There is one major problem though. It's not on a girl! Put it on a girl!

Also I really need to make those PJs I want to make.
>>

I need to finish the back with button thingies so it can close, than I can taken some nice pictures of my girl wearing it. She has already tried it on ofcourse!
Go make those pajamas! Your girl is probably waiting for it!

I'd love to see fashion-kun's hand crafted original design pajamas.

That looks so lovely! I'm trying to learn how to use my sewing machine so I can make doll clothes. Soon, Hotaru will not be naked. Hand sewing is tricky, too.

Maybe shes just meant to be dark skinned. Also, its near impossible to dye in tan lines. The dye will eventually blur and leach across the vinyl.

My guess is you'd immerse the disassembled skins in a dye the colour you want. The vinyl sucks up clothing dye like an economic migrant sucks up civilised society so there's no reason it wouldn't take well to being stained on purpose.

Colouring the skeleton would be more difficult since it's a hard plastic and you can see that it's less effective on the exposed joints. But I wonder if you could 3D print replacements using coloured plastics?

Now now now it's not like Cherry wears bright clothes. And flashes her bare butt in an attempt to come across more sure of her self then she actually is.
It's not like she is acting out because she is insecure and doing things like takeing her favourite hoodie upsets her.
>>
>>15208401
One problem though is staining. When the vinyl is properly coloured the normal stain removal techniques won't change skin colour. But if you dye her and then try to remove stains it will also remove the dye discolouring that spot by makeing it ligher.
>>
>>15208401
Eh, I'd more likely opt for a polymer clay sculpt of the joints and make a silicone mold to cast duplicates, as opposed to 3d printing. 3d prints really rough, and that could hinder connection and mobility on the finished product.
>>15208447
Maybe a matte surface seal was used on the final application of dye?
Its definitely interesting, works, and is well done for a attempt however.

I know it's none of those things. Daddy just won't buy his daughter any underwear so she's forced to have her cooch hanging out like a slut all day and night.

Buy these. Mei has coolcat underwear and they are exceptional quality items. The price is worth your daughter's respectability.

Dolls need underwear Fashion-kun. I don't care how much she complains if you have to stuff one pair down her throat to shut her up while you put another on her then do it. You're four times her size and many times more stronger, holding her down shouldn't be a problem for you.

You can at least put a pair of panties on a little girl surely?
>>
>>15208559
I will do it later. She has had more then enough of me.

Also I been thinking, people with multiple girls and multiple glass prisons. Do you have set locations for your girls or do you move them about?
I like moving and paring them up differently it keeps things fresh and let's different girls get to know each other.
>>
>>15208608
I have glass dungeons but mine mostly just float around the place and I usually have at least two on my desk at any given time. Dolls are meant to roam free really I feel. So no, no set locations.

Don't think you quite understand how father/daughter relationships work. The one who decides when she's had enough is you.

And mine stay in the same position and clothes for weeks at a time. I'd like to be able to move them around the house more but if I do take them out on excursion to the lounge room they must be returned before dark or else the floor creature will take them.
>>
>>15208608
>too lazy to even give your girl the panties she deserves
I hate how little you seem to actually care.

>Do you have set locations for your girls or do you move them about?
I don't have a lot of space to myself, so they just hang out on my desk. My desk is pretty big, though, so I want to buy or make some furniture for them eventually.

I don't think that is the case, after all he went to the effort of putting a little towel down so her butt didn't get dirty and well to be fair having her go nopan is a choice he is free to make, it just makes him a pervert and her a semen hungry harlot.

Incompetent is a word I'd use to describe fashion-kun if asked; uncaring is not.

Good advice. I also like to use a remote shutter release so I don't accidentally move the camera in longer exposure shots. Any DSLR should be sufficient, the camera matters less than you'd think.

While I do eventually want to get a dress for my doll, I want her to look more tomboyish/athletic than feminine. Sadly, all the clothes I see are very girly. I've already bought pants and a hoody from Etsy but nothing of the quality that some doll clothes should be known for.

I have the Makoto DDS by the way.
