You can say Rita is it's own case, being useless is her charm, thing that a lot of artist exploit. Fran is really usefull but only at min cost, she have the same skill as Ada (the beastwoman rogue), so she is a VH who can ups her att by some reasonable numbers plus making her more tankier. So yup, she is really useful.
I'll list the next unit farm type events in a moment, to give some insight of what units you may want to have an eye on it.

Case-by-case basis honestly.
- Like, Spica is practically an Event Unit in that she's a high-rarity unit that free-players can get by farming a daily instead of relying on Gacha RNG. And yet she's generally considered the strongest non-Nanaly Archer. (People still use Bashira for Burst though).
- Like-wise Claudia used to be considered flatout stronger than both of the Gacha Platinum Princesses. Then they excluded her from the Princess buffs because whales were complaining that their princessfus were weaker than an Event Unit.
- Katie and Aria are also both much better than Julian (largely due to being actual females, but still).
- Then you have Swordmasters later, Sandra and Gloria both being almost obnoxiously strong for a mid-level player. (Mid-level as in, has a lot of CCed, even max CCed units, but not tons of AWed units yet).
- Then you have all the Black Event Units, who are strong simply on the basis of having Black-Rarity stats. Even ones with a shit skill like Lianna end up being useful for most people just because their stats are so fucking high.

Not anywhere near as good as Elizabeth (Elizabeth has a ridiculously OP skill for a Plat, so not a good comparison), but she's entirely solid stat-wise. She's very tanky for a ranged unit, especially with her skill up. She's amazing for those ranged deploy only maps (yes, event maps are ranged-only deploy sometimes as well; or at least very ranged-heavy). If you want to compare her to Khuri though, you're definitely gonna want -4 / -5 cost on her.

I only run two physical ranged attackers because of how absurd she is. An archer for longer range and bonus damage shenanigans, and Elizabeth to shit fury on anything in range not immune to physical.
It might even be better to compare event VH's to the black Sue instead, that's how out of place Elizabeth is as a platinum.

Ok like I said, here is a washed off list of the next event with drop farm units:
-Waltz: Dancer, very good SA right now, her skill makes her dance effect permanent.
-Eliza: Witch, ups her att in snow maps (not too common), her skill give her Att and range up.
-Emilia: Valkyrie, cheapest platinum valk, with really low stats and with Maribel's skill.
-Hana: Dancer, not that great as a dancer, but have it's uses if you mincost her.
-Rorone: This one is special in various ways , she is a bandit, Conrad's daughter, foccused in full att and have low hp, but makes for it by having a passive evasion chance in AW which gets more chances with her SA. To note, her skill is the same as Conrad's but start at lvl II and changes to lvl. III after CC, making her a pain to raise it if you really want it. Also this is the first event where you get 100% drop in the last map.
-Lucille: Dragon Rider. This one is really awfull compared to the other dragon riders, her only saving grace is to serve as a good 1 vs 1 tank, and thats it.
-Corine: Alchemist, she is a good one to have if you find yourself with need of one.
-Miranda: Heavy armor. This one have is relative to each, she is an offensive tank, she hits with big numbers with her skill but also really slow.
-Kanon: Cannoner. This one is good but not great, do a lot of damage, but being a cannoner is not that good.
-Rinbell: Sailor, and the best one at it (for now).
-Isabel: Pegasus Knight. Nothing bad to say about her.
-Yuno: Priest. She is similar to a Dragon Shaman, but without the AOE.
-Lieselotte: Soldier. Plat soldier, if you know Jerome, you know how useful he is as a plat soldier, you can mincost her and choose to CC her or not to abuse her skill at early deployments.
-Sarasa: Mounted archer. Not that great, if needed I preffer to deploy Renarde (silver mounted archer).
-Levi: Shaman. She shares the same skill ammong the shaman class (like angels) so if you have one that you like, use her as skill food, if not, get her an use her against the golems if you want.
-Sabrina: A damn good pirate if you don't have other of if you are still stuck with Beatorika for a plat one. She have Bashira's skill, and her SA is awesome too.
-Lumaria: Vampire hunter. I want to say she is bad, Khuri is superior to her without that much investment, but I really like her.
-Helena: Front tactician, You must know her by know, she is the current event in DMM.

I have no need for them, every archer i have fills a roll (besides that 12 cost Soma) so with my archers i don't ever have need for neither Daniela nor Stray, Bashira and Nanaly are multi-shot while Spica has nicely high atack
And even when Khuri isn't an archer, she's a beast against unarmoured enemies (or low armor ones)

Yeah, you do your first set of rolls from the main campaign, then you expand out your inventory, then you hoard for events- always keeping at least 50 SC.
Anything above that can be blown on gacha during good weeks.

Unlike Aigis, events do not require SC in FKG, so almost all flower stones go to the gacha. You should also buy inventory extensions when you have too many characters/equipment you'd rather keep.
Since we know the general order of events, you may want to save your flower stones for a girl you particularly like (most girls have rate-ups for drawing them when they are first introduced). In particular, we're getting Cymbidium, an exceptionally strong (and exceptionally cute) gold, in around 3 weeks, so many people are saving up for her.

I did all of that back when I bought the buffs to get mincost Mirno. I rolled the gacha with these SCs and it got me Hina, Shizuka, Eva and Nadia, so I don't especially regret it.
I think I'll go for the valkyrie and wait for the next revival on Sandra. I have a few time fairies, so I can get her at -3CR and use one or two if having her at -5CR turns out to be really necessary.

You can get SCs from the maps. Get at least max skill Sandra. She is very useful. Valkyrie's role can be easy replace by other unit like soldier or bandit.

I have Raven and I know it is true at all.
Highest base stats, highest affection bonus, her skill is easily abuseable and her IK chances are among the highest of the game, killing everything except bosess, plus you can just activate with everything around you, not waiting for some weird formations, making her a choice for any map. Oh and her damage modification is great to dish damage to anything that can survive it (in fact *3.4 a hit isn't something that bad).
Sandra only have damage on her side, and you need: positioning, await for the planets to align themself and then use her skill.

What Raven can't kill with her instant kill, she can kill it with her OP damage mod. Also you say that she is screwed if there are more than 9 mobs in the field...thing that isn't true at all, you are talking about an hypothetical scenario, the same hypothetical scenario where Sandra needs the right amount of mobs in her range to be effective, also her damage mod is nearly the half of Raven's.
And lets be clear about the boss, and sub boss, no Swordmaster is a boss killer, they are ok duelist but they can't really face directly any powerhouse boss, so they are only reliably mob killers and again, Raven excels at that.with the add that she can spamm her skill more than Sandra.
In the end Raven is better than Sandra, Sandra herself is just very situational, like Rita, not that useless, but very reliant in the mobs formation.
On a side note, althought RNGish, her skill instan kill chance was changed in the troll domination map, she now have the highest proc chance of all, making it even more reliable to kill someone with it, than to wait for the mobs to be in a row or column to be damaged.

Probably 90+% of maps have map designs where Sandra's skill is easy to use. Enemies come from a (more or less) straight road, you place Sandra on that road, then when you activate her skill, everything gets hit. But more than for her True Damage / damage multiplier vs air, I use her alot for the simple fact that the range on her skill is infinite, as long as the enemy is along that cross.

You said it yourself, nothing is more reliable than putting a unit where the rest will be concentrated, that is the reason Raven owns Sandra, she doesn't rely to enemy formations, just let them be close to her huge are of effect and they are done.

True damage with that modifier isn't that high, there is a reason why Uru excells over Gina in the damage departament, Both have the same skill, and even if Gina lands 100% true damage hits, it isn't even as close as the damage done by Uru because the damage modifier. and that is only .5 more damage. In Raven's case we are talking about double her damage.
Right now, no air enemy have have IK inmunity except some boses which are ike 3 at much so Raven can defeat air enemies with ease too.

They're usually really rare. I had to farm ages to get Oili's. Though I've also gotten some on the first run of a quest. It's pure luck, but the drop rate is definitely low.

Very low, but the less * a character have, it's easier to get because the quest cost less. You should farm the 3* weapons, they usually come with a nice skill at +3, and the maps are somewhat good exp and materials.
