From the older games I've played they seem to be paced better so I enjoy them more. However there are also some games where no detail is put into describing anything, so I guess it can be a double-edged sword.

>>
>>15116139
Probably not for you, but it's also not bad as some people make it to be just because they can only see it as some Subahibi deteriorate version, and its crypticism only as a tool to camouflage "bad writing". Funny thing when you get to know Motonaga was already doing the same thing six months before Tsui no Sora was even released, and the way they mention things like Wittgenstein are completely different since then.

Actually I really don't even know by what basis someone would call Nekonade bad (or good for that matter), because, well, for better or worse the game is just excellent at its main point of not showing the reader what the main point is.
I do prefer Exodus over the main game though, but that's simply because spotting a hidden Jakobson reference there made me happy.

Kana is definitely fun, she's a shining example of a good heroine in my opinion. Not scrubbed of any personality to be suitably "pure", not afraid to make jokes, and so on and so on. I mean, she's not breaking any crazy ground or anything, I just found her to be an engaging character by her own right, and not just because she's a hot virgin.

Not that anon but why this insistence on the price? The vast majority of people who pirate games are the all or nothing type. It could be 5 yen and they'd still not get it. Mentioning the price is quite irrelevant in this case.
>>
>>15121659
I think the main thing is that because normal commercial games are anywhere from 4,000 to 10,000 yen (generally trending towards the latter for big names), 648 appears extremely low and therefore avoiding paying it less moral.
>>
Can anyone who's finished maitetsu say how many parts there are in the common route? I'm already at 08 which seems pretty speedy if there's only 20 some parts. So I'm thinking it's more in the 50, 70 range. Is that correct?

>>15120721
Why does a 2016 VN have a 4:3 resolution? Is this a treasured tradition among doujin devs or something?
>>
>>15121751
From my experience with other pirates, most don't really give a fuck about morals or supporting the author and such. They only care about getting games for free, so for them the price is just an irrelevant information.

Either way I bought the game, I might upload it if no one else does in the time it takes me to finish it.
>>
>>15121763
Well, in this thread in particular, there's a common idea - wanting to support the industry, but being completely unfucking willing to pay close to $100 for fucking vns. That's totally reasonable, everyone agrees. Except some butthurt Japanese dudes, this thread is more or less in complete unity that Japanese eroge prices are fucking way too high, and the only way to manage it is to only buy games from favourite companies and leave it at that, which "forces" fans of VNs into piracy. So, despite being a thread of pirates, the cultural attitude towards piracy is that of "this situation is the result not of greed, but of VNs being too damn expensive". However, when the price drops to as low as 648 yen, that argument can no longer hold up, and thus you have people criticizing the guy.
>>
>>15121763
Pretty much agreed with >>15121788 but
>I might upload it
Please don't. I'm sure if you uploaded it it'd hurt their sales, even if they're not making many sales in the first place.
>>
>>15121788
It's two things for me (and a lot of people here, I think). Not thinking most eroge are worth more than $20-$30 is definitely a big one, but it's also that I don't want to keep a bunch of eroge boxes in my room for people to see, and for people in some countries they couldn't even import. Although of course that doesn't apply if they have a dl version and actually accept gaijin orders

It's roughly a 15-16 parts each route, that includes common. Subroutes are like 3-5 parts.
>>
>>15121957
Ehh? So the common route is 15-16 parts? That seems wild. I guess I over estimated it because of how many side characters there are. Halfway through the common route, and only seen a fifth of'm. Or maybe the later parts are way longer, these first 8 have been pretty brief. Thanks for replying anon, I couldn't find a damn thing on google or through ctrl fing bbspink.
>>
>>15121751
They got like 20 sales since the game got hyped in the west and they were happy for that, if you were to upload it it's possible they would lose sales
There is no reason to upload it when it's so readily available and cheap, DLsite is accessible everywhere
>>
>>15121131
does dlsite take paypal?
>>
>>15121760
has to do with 4:3 displays still in use by the japan userbase
>>
>>15122247
I read something recently that stated that laptops were far more common than desktops. That was mainly to do with VNs not having 1080p though, not widescreen in general
>>
>>15122227
I don't think so, but I could purchase Himawari with my Visa Electron debit card, followed by logging into my bank account and confirming the purchase. Just remember to register and log in to the site first, because if you don't you'll get a generic "card not accepted" error without any sort of explanation, which is probably a foreigner card block that gets lifted once you log in.
>>
>>15121813

You are forgetting that not everyone can actually buy it, even if they wanted to. DLSite JP only accepts credit cards. If you normally use Paypal, you can't buy it. (Last time I checked it's not on the English DLSite)

So if he uploads it after he is finished, people who got interested in it through recent reviews bought it already anyway, I'd say. Well, I dunno how much he'll read so maybe I'm wrong there. Not like it's that long. (400k Moji or something as far as I remember?)

>>15121973

Where do you actually see the part you are in? Pretty sure you mean the "scenes" where you can see your progress at the bottom with some bar. But I doubt you actually count how many you clear?

>Where do you actually see the part you are in?
The bookmarks I believe. I did mean the "scenes" you refer to but I didn't call'm scenes because the scene actually changes within the part if that makes sense.
>>
>>15122341
>If you normally use Paypal, you can't buy it.
I haven't tried it but I remember someone mentioning that you can buy credits on the all-ages version of the site with Paypal and then use those credits on the 18+ version of the site. If that works, then them not accepting Paypal on the 18+ version of the site isn't really a good excuse either.
>>
>>15122341
To add onto >>15122352 they seem to have been fairly receptive to the western fans liking it so far / have had back and forths with a few western fans, so I wouldn't be surprised if they'd offer another way to buy it outside of DLSite if you asked them so long as there's nothing stopping them from selling somewhere other than DLSite. I imagine uploading it would just sour their view of western fans, and I wouldn't want that.
>>
>>15122352

As I said, it's not on the English DLsite. Paypal is only accepted there. (And Seabed is all ages anyway, so there'd be no need to do the credits thing)

>>15122350

Ah, uh okay. I never looked at these, because quite frankly? What the hell did they do with the save-system... don't fix what's not broken. Luckily it simply auto-saves so I didn't need to bother with it. Just made a bookmark and yeah, you can see it there all-right. (guess I got to part 7 before I ended up playing other things, gives me nice sense of "how long will this go" though once I'll continue)
>>
>>15122359
>I imagine uploading it would just sour their view of western fans, and I wouldn't want that.
I mean, everything with interest gets uploaded, so if they got soured by it I honestly would just consider them heretofore ignorant. Plus, I mean, people pirate in Japan too, so it's not like a single westerner uploading something is reflective of Western fans in general, or of Eastern fans by contrast of them not having yet uploaded it.
>>
>>15122370
Either way, if it's really a matter of wanting to buy it but having no way to do so, then it's worth a shot at least trying to get into contact with them on twitter https://twitter.com/seabed_cm or something and asking them about it / asking for another way to buy it that works with Paypal or whatever method they're trying that isn't working.
>>
>>15122370
It barely has 100 sales, these sort of games with low sales don't get uploaded
You have ways to get it, just do it if you are interested
>>
>>15122439
If I wanted to read it I'd buy it, I was just explaining that it getting uploaded would just be a matter of course
>>
>>15122377

For now I sent an e-mail to DLSite for a "product request". I don't have much hope, but who knows. Might help. In the end I'm not going through all kinds of shit to get my hands on a doujin-game I may end up not even liking. (So like I'm not getting a twitter account for this, or a credit-card or whatever)
I suppose there is a trial, but before I'd try that I'd like to know if I can purchase it or not. Comes all down to me not really being part of who they'd normally want to sell this to I suppose. But eh. It's a doujin circle, so this is to be expected. For now I'll wait a while.
>>
>>15122477
Don't you have a regular debit card? I don't know what sort of services your bank provides but here every bank allows you to create virtual cards that work just like a credit card which you can use in these situations. That's the way I do all my online purchases, as I don't have a credit card either.
>>
>>15122493

Well that stuff "exists" but costs money. I'm in Germany, and credit cards are simply not a thing here. You.. don't need one, at all. There are plenty of other ways to pay. Like if I want one of those "prepaid" creditcards, I gotta pay 40 Euro every year. Why would I do that if paypal is free? Just as an example.

I've looked into this at some point already, but ended up deciding that paypal is the best to stay with, even with not all shops accepting it and so on. Well, not like a credit-card is accepted everywhere either.
>>
>>15122705
You can't pay 40 euro a year?
>>
>>15122705

You don't even have to go there. You know G-senjou no Maou? The main-girl there was a long time in Germany, and the VN has a little bit about her life there. Unfortunately I've read it like ages ago, so I don't remember what was specifically said, but damn.

That said I'm pretty sure VNs get "Engrish" and US/UK things wrong or refer that way more often. Girl on the left here is also a "half" who supposedly knows English very well. (Man I somehow love Hapymaher more than I should I feel, but all the characters just.. click with me)

Self-awareness and self-restraint is one of the big reasons people never take risks and never go anyway beyond their own bubble, which is why many of the replies posted doesn't really surprise me.

Are you referring to month being unremarkable for moege or in general? If the latter, I'm glad I don't have taste as shitty as yours (assuming you did mean in general)
>>
>>15124745
In regards to moege, last month had a couple of titles worth reading but not enough to last more than a week. Thankfully there's more on offer this month

>>15124760
Yeah, i was just unsure as to whether he meant moege or not
Also, finishing maitetsu/akeiro/interview all in one week sounds like a crazy time. Throw in Kouya and Jeanne, well you've got mood whiplash quite severe. That said, I haven't seen a single post about the Jeanne game here. Maybe i missed it.

I remember this. The poor and rich thing is relatively common (ensemble anyone) but for a moege this one got pretty real, is there anything else like it?

I wish ensemble would stop using super generic designs for the girls in their releases, the stories tend to be crap but I can put up with that as long as the girls are attractive.
>>
>>15125123
If you like neither the art nor the story just play games by a different company. That's a lot more likely to leave you pleased than hoping that company becomes half tolerable.

There's no shortage of games with attractive art but shit story.

Well think it as a "lord of the rings eroge version". There are bloody onis who eat humans and turn some of them into onis, occupy castles and become some kind of army with stronger oni commanders. Mc tries to make alliances as much as possible since they have lost one time against them and onis grew even stronger since then, took a couple castles etc.

The game goes in this line, and in the middle of events mc & heroines fall in love with each other. Its something between heavy plotge and moege, with some historical elements.
>>
>>15126550

Oh right, that's a thing now, huh. Will be interesting to see if it'll actually be cracked. And if people can even legally play it. Wouldn't be the first case of DRM which is implemented so badly that the game won't even work on most machines..

>>15126559

I personally don't mind it, as much as I like the two artists of the "pretty" ones. I don't really like the artist of the "lovely" ones though, can't even say why. Something about the faces.. the lips. Or something.

Just finished Maitetsu's common route and am making some headway into a character route. Gotta admit, I'm not getting into it at all. I saw on 2ch that almost every considered the common route their favourite and I can get a feeling why... honestly that was a pretty satisfying conclusion on it's own. Anyone else feel the same? Just lose interest in Maitetsu after the common route?
>>
>>15127304
Yeah I did too
I like the overall mood of the game but I don't really care about doing the routes right now
>>
>>15127343
It feels very Japanese somehow. But holy moly, every single character is boring. I mean, certainly attractive, but everyone is polite and normal. Nobody really says interesting things (though Sousetsu gives a speech at every opportunity), it's like instead of interesting characters all the "interest" comes from trains, and in the meantime you deito lolis because after all it's Lose.

Finished hanachirasu, I liked it, I was pretty unskilled in japanese when I started and could do a few lines or words at a time, by the time I was finished I had read a bunch of other VNs and could read Hanachirasu at a decent pace like normal text in english but a bit slower I guess, still had some trouble during info dumps but got by.

The loli was pretty creepy, I don't like her, the music and tone was cool it felt pretty 90's not the kinda I like but ending doing so, but during some certain 'cool/surprising parts' the music turned wacky? It kinda too me out of it.

The VN was short and well some parts worked well. It felt like you were watching the ending to a long part series but had exposition, unlike Dra-koi which felt like if the story was long it wouldn't really work as well.

Something confused me however, why did Akane drop the key card so Igarusu could kill his boss and co, there was no need too, also why did he commit sudoku?

So like loli sadist? I'm currently reading something like that, which has that.. kind of. You won't have the "100 years old" thingy though.
If you like "strong" girls it's probably generally for you. Name in screenshot/gamewindow. Girl as well, just.. flipped. Don't ask. Shit's slightly on drugs at times. I quite like what I've seen so far.

Other than that, if you are into yuri, the true heroine of Seisai no Resonance is most certainly "wise", and she has a sharp tongue.. though not so much towards the protagonist after a while. Not really a sadist either.
The true route was really well done, including an.. interesting first ending you get when you finish it the first time.

Can't really give much better stuff here, as I dropped Yumina, so I only know said girl from like the first 2 or 3 chapters. It's also been a while.

Can't tell you if the plots holds up. So far I've not seen any lies. The subject itself however can easily lead to confusion. It also doesn't help that the writing is, as such, not typical moege tier.
That said, the VN is a lot about atmosphere, which I feel gets shown pretty fast. So maybe give it a spin and if you don't like it after an hour or so, just drop it. Personally I wouldn't even be bothered too much if the story suffers a bit, as I quite like the whole cast. Plus the last VN I finished was Satsukoi. And that's on of those VNs that casually drops a bomb in some subordinate clause at the end of the true route, that retroactive makes the whole plot dumb and essentially fucks everything up. As fun as the main-heroine was (pic related), the plot.. THE PLOT.

As for no yuri, well if you don't like the genre that's fine. Though I also don't really like most yuri VNs.. which is a bit sad given that I do quite like the genre. Oh well.

Everything except that mermaid thing was just great. I mean, it's a mermaid, right? Shouldn't they have, like, gills instead of, you know, Wolverine's claws?
>>
>>15132085

That's just prejudice! (The VN says that, so that part is deliberately done)
That said, I actually agree. The whole plot around the mermaid stuff was dumb. I liked the sub-plot of the "father" and the overall romance with Nao (?) was also fine. Still, why the author even killed the theme is beyond me. You know the whole "would you die for your loved one?". Becomes pretty absurd, once it's revealed that male mermaids die around the time they'd get eaten by the females anyway. So all the "I'm not going to eat my brother!!" and everything becomes absurd, because death is certain anyway. Also nicely fucks over the redhead ending where Yuu even requests the protag to stay with her sister. Kinda funny if you think about it.. Oh well.

That whole section of the game really annoyed me. (real spoilers) Nozomi and Nonoka. I get it, bullying is pretty bad, but holy fuck was Nozomi a total drama queen about it. I know people who's parents didn't fucking feed them and they lived their whole childhood close to starvation. Heck, look at anyone in the fucking middle east having their lives torn up by ISIS. Their lives are unimaginably worse than hers. The whole time Nozomi was whining about getting bullied and how EEEEVIL she was now I was just like, Jesus Christ grow up. Same for Ayako. What happened to her fucking sucked, but its not something to drive one to that levels of hate. A Bradyon Veda quote comes to midn (paraphrasing in English:) "It looks like she has a boss who drilled in formality, to the point that she salutes even if she doesn't want to. It's unfortunate, but I don't pity her. What she went through is no doubt preferable to the situation war veterans with no limbs suffer through." That's pretty much my response to Nozomi. Yeah, her situation sucked, but hoooly fuck it's still a pretty good deal over a good deal of people's lives. She really needs some perspective. My ideal conclusion to her appearance in Kana's route would Kana showing her photographs of starving war oprhans and Nozomi being like "oh damn my life was pretty good".

I didn't even read Akeiro yet your whole "other people had it worse somehow makes things better" viewpoint is extremely ignorant. Just because people in the world are starving doesn't automatically make your or my life good.

No no. I didn't say it makes it better. We all suffer and that suffering is legitimate. It makes her reaction goddamn childish, is all. Completely lacking any perspective. Immature as hell. It is precisely because people in the world are starving and dying and being miserable, that I don't make a big deal about the sufferings in my life, which are immeasurably small in comparison to those around me.
