The Ultramarine Orb Elixir doesn't actually prevent the user from dying, it lets the user see the future. In terms of game mechanics, this means that every time you 'die', the heroine was just seeing a possible future in which they fucked up, and the time you clear each checkpoint is what actually happened. The user would be able to see themselves floating off into space, and thus be able to avoid it just like any other mistake, unless it was somehow completely inevitable.
Of course, Doremy isn't in space to begin with, she's in the Dream World, so that image makes even less sense. Still cute though.

Well, I did read some of the script, and Junko's talking about how you've died a thousand times and how she's gonna kill the heroine. Shit-talking is the norm, sure, but Junko isn't the sort to give a shit about that, and LoLK is a shade darker than most games. I'd say death's a strong possibility in this one.

It's quite possible that the ears are artificial.
When Reisen came to Earth in SSiB, she remarks on how she changed her appearance to look more like an Earth rabbit; her ears look like Tewi's. Later, we see that the other Moon rabbits have ears that look like Udonge's with the button-like things, and also that their ears almost seem to be attached to their helmets.
Of course, to some extent, that could just be Aki Eda taking creative license, which she did in several places in SSiB. Still, ZUN approved it, so it can't be too off-base.
Considering what we know about the Lunarians' technology and about how the rabbits communicate, it's reasonable to conjecture that the ears are some kind of artificial, detachable antenna; however, it's equally possible that they are real ears, Reisen did some quick cosmetic surgery before coming to Earth, and the button-like things at the base of their ears are some kind of implanted transmitter or whatnot.
In the end, it's one of those little details that's hinted at but never elaborated on, so all you can do is have fun speculating and not take it too seriously.

One other thing, though - the Moon rabbits don't have tails, but the Earth rabbits do.
We don't know for certain where the Moon rabbits came from or what they are, just that they're a slave race to the Lunarians. It's possible that, unlike the Earth rabbits who are actual youkai rabbits, they're a completely humanoid race who are merely rabbits in name, and have ear-shaped antennae because the Lunarians think it looks cool/appropriate/whatever.
I realize that may sound like a bit of a stretch, but again, we really don't have much to go on in the first place. It seems to me we're supposed to get the impression that the Moon rabbits aren't exactly what they seem, even if it's not really important.

Just because they're slaves doesn't mean they're abused. In fact, aside from being manual laborers, they're also the Lunar army, so they're trusted with some level of responsibility and all that. It's more like they're the lowest of the low in a rigid class system. Perhaps as far as they're concerned, it's still better than being an Earthling.
It could also be that she's considered a traitor to the rabbits, not the Lunar Capital as a whole, and that she broke the camaraderie of the downtrodden rabbits to go live a luxurious, free life on Earth while leaving them behind.

I think the complaint about SSiB having too much action is usually in the context of Aki Eda being the one drawing it. I've never seen it otherwise. In fact I've seen many more people say they want more action in the manga.
Whenever a Playboy magazine floats through the barrier, Reisen makes absolutely sure it never reaches Eientei. She knows that If the princess finds out that these outfits are a thing, she'll never get to wear anything else.

My ultimate dream 2hu manga that follows an incident like the ones in the games, just with a lot more detail than the shmups allow for. Touhou is a series about aerial combat at its core and I think it's a shame that we only get to see that combat through the lens of the games.
