I'm not sure I would say it's my #1 album though. That's kind of hard to just pick one as in general for artists my favorite songs are scattered among different albums, etc.

Some other very strong picks would be novel music, 無彩色の虹とサカナ、ラティメリアは夢を魅る & ex machina.

Yeah I definitely can't just pick one.

Since you guys seems to like Suzumu quite a lot, what do you think about the plagiarism polemic and his retirement?
I know he had admitted the plagiarism himself, but the translations I read were kind of vague, and it's hard to find some reliable information on that matter.
>>
>>15080774
It just came out of nowhere for me. Nobody had ever accused him of plagiarism or anything of the sort as far as I know, he just came out and said it. I think the situation might be more complicated than that, although one thing he made very clear is that he doesn't think he deserves the praise he gets, or maybe that he got too much credit for stuff other people helped him with.

He sounded very down on himself. I hope he is well.

Are there any good tuning tutorials around? I'm trying to get back into music production and recently stumbled on Mitchie M. If anyone can direct me to some methods for realistic tuning i'd be very grateful. I understand that a lot of it seems to be EQ, (re)sampling/layering, and other filtering techniques, but I don't have the best idea of where to start in Vocaloid itself. I've had the free project software sitting on my PC for a while now, and I'll probably use Gumi and maybe SeeU if this information helps at all.

I mean, you can say that about almost any kind of hobby, excluding the most general statements of "reading" or "watching tv/movies".

There doesn't seem to actually be a reason not to be into it anymore unless you

I could understand why this logic would apply to teenagers (since teenagers feel the need to grow out of whatever they liked during their teen years) but I personally got (back to some extent) into things like Vocaloid and anime in my early 20s. Pre-20 was actually the time I would watch a lot of Western shits like movies and series.

I don't see myself stopping ever, all my hobbies like Japanese, art and gaming revolves around weeab/Japanese stuff and I'm definitely happier with all these things.

>whether or not it should be weird
That thing here is the real problem. In the West it's considered weird for someone to mostly like things from Japan.

Look at an earlier comment here : >>15095870
>excluding the most general statements of "reading" or "watching tv/movies"
Why would these two things be excluded? Because they're considered "normal"? "Standard"? And whenever someone asks these questions they're called edgy.

I could also quote all the comments talking about growing out of anime etc, but as far as I know it's rare to hear people say "I grew out of Hollywood movies" or "I grew out of US series" although in the end, in both cases, they're just hobbies. It's as if people are instinctively afraid of deviating from what the majority thinks is normal and accepted.

>so who gives a shit
But yeah, indeed, who gives a shit. I was born with a controller in my hands, games from Japan and would watch anime from Japan. I feel much more at home with these things than with jewish shill propaganda movies and badly acted series. To me those are the things that are "normal" to me and that make me happy. At this point there's no further debate to have.

My post is probably unnecessarily aggressive but I still felt like typing these things out.
>>
>>15100486
Both of the posts you quoted were mine, actually.

>Why would these two things be excluded? Because they're considered "normal"? "Standard"?
I excluded reading and visual entertainment because they're extremely general - accepting any kind of media generally means one or both of those things.

That said, I understand and agree with many of your sentiments.
>>
>>15100512

The NYC Miku Expo in 2014 was not sold out. Now given that at the time L.A. & NYC were the only two US cities that had the concerts people from at least the eastern half of the US as well as die hard fans from the west side who went to the LA concert already along with probably some people from Mexico and Canada all went to the NYC venue. Given that I was able to purchase a ticket on the day of the concert at the ticket booth they didn't sell out tickets despite the large number of people attending that day.

Now that there are more concerts spread across the US I doubt they'll sell out as much tickets as in 2014 since people living close to those other concerts would most likely gravitate to the nearest venues, unless they're super die hard fans who have money to burn and go to every single concert.
>>
>>15104786
The NYC show was fucking packed though, I honestly don't think they would have stopped selling floor tickets until people had to stand in the lobby.
>>
>NYC is 20 minutes away
>Show is just a bit too expensive for me

I'd really like to go, but I'm much too cheap.

I could only find 100+ on the ticket site, even for the standing floor.
I am pretty broke though. College Student problems and whatnot.
>>
>>15105053
I just checked, it gave me one for 90 after taxes and fees and shit.
>>
>>15104030
Speaking of, Anyone here ever been to that venue by any chance? Its listed a a 50000 square foot warehouse. Trying to feel out the inside considering that it did sell out first. Looks pretty big on street view.

I'm broke. Well that and I'm introverted, so I don't really get that much fun out of a night out vs a night in.

Also it was cheaper than the standing floor.

I was on the floor at the NY show, and can confirm manlets and femlets were angry at me for not being 4'10".

They kept trying to shove past me to get closer to the stage, but it wasn't happening.

Since it's a full print t-shirt (and not a crappy box print where the design is shaped into a box), $45 is a decent price.

Like the other anon mentioned earlier, COSPA full print shirts go for $60 when the design covers the whole shirt. So this will probably be of good quality as well since I paid $45 for a Calcium shirt at the 2014 LA Expo and I don't think they will change manufacturers. Shirt still looks good as new.

Maybe not the best place to ask, but has anyone tried to hook up a midi keyboard to vocaloid4 so you can play it live? I'm trying to do it through ReWire and I can get a composed track to play in my DAW, but I can't get realtime function to work.

The vocaloid scene seems to be so big and yet there's no discussion around it. These threads are pretty dead.

Not dead at all. This one has been up for 10 days and has 166 replies, that's 16 per day.

>>15109899
That's dead as fuck compared to faster boards like /a/. Obviously anime has more to discuss and /jp/ is a slow board but I still feel like there's not much discussion anywhere about vocaloid.
>>
>>15109388
>>15109384
Can you all explain what you mean by this?
>>
>>15109908
These threads are nigh eternal - constantly repeating one after the other. At some point you lose things to discuss at every moment.

There are certainly things to talk about, but you'll have to bring them up. No point in complaining if you're not going to change things.
>>
>>15109931
That argument doesn't really have any meaning behind it. There are a ton of generals that are much faster than this. In fact most generals are faster than this one. I think it's just because no one goes to /jp/. I bet most 4chan users who listen to vocaloid don't even know about this general.

>>
>>15109953
>I think it's just because no one goes to /jp/
There's literally no issue with /jp/, and 'generals' culture is pretty shit as-is - it ends up promoting circle jerks and blogposting and whatnot.

The thread is up to share and discuss music and post pictures. There's no need to keep it constantly bumped and over-full

Also
>complaining about /jp/ being slow
>implying this is a bad thing
>Thinking more people should pollute /jp/

>>
>>15109908
Post a 3x3 or some songs then. It's better this thread's been quiet since the travesty that was the last one.
>>
>>15109964
Pointing out that /jp/ is slow doesn't mean I'm complaining about /jp/ being slow. And yes I go to other boards, /jp/ is nothing but touhou shitposting, and a few generals.
Basically,

Because Miku is my waifu and I love her.
Many singers use playback or autotune and other stuff like that, so they aren't much more real. And there are some electronic music concerts where everything is prerecorded anyway. You go to these concerts to listen to music you like, possibly see nice effects/show and be with people who have similar taste, the same applies to vocaloid concerts.

>>15109908
We make discussions when new concerts got announced, new songs from famous producers appear, some producer retire, new game appear etc. but outside of these there isn't much to discuss. We can't really talk about what song is our favorite forever.

If it doesn't mention seating its a free for all.

Why are miku and ia so much better than the other vocaloids. Miku of course has a ton of hits, but ia also has amazing songs like six trillion years, outer science. Of course the other vocaloids have some popular songs but they don't sound as professional/high quality compared to stuff like MitchieM's work. Orangestar also has some great ia songs.

I think Yukari is the best vocaloid from a technical standpoint, though many UTAU banks far surpass vocaloid quality. Miku and IA are more popular so they definitely get more good songs though.
>>
>>15112394

mitchie M uses vocalistener which requires a human vocalist. He has songs with luka that are just as impressive because what he does is basically cheating.

IA is probably the most advanced vocaloid. she's the only vocaloid made by first place co

>>
>>15112394
>miku and ia so much better than the other vocaloids
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man. Miku doesn't have more songs because she is better, only because she's more popular. Same for IA, Six Trillion Years etc. is a great song, sure, but kemu has plenty of other great, popular songs that mostly use Gumi.

Also, almost any vocaloid (the ones that have at least some minimum amount of quality to them at least) can sound amazing if tuned right.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hNpxi0N-2U
>>
>>15113259
That's a bit disappointing to learn. Why don't most producers use this?
>>
>>15113672
As he said, it's pretty much cheating.

Why use that when you can push yourself to use a vocaloid to the best of her ability?
>>
>>15113672
The whole entire complete point of vocaloid software is to enable music creation without needing a vocalist.

I was thinking this myself.

They don't even specify where or when they will be available for purchase.

I would, but idk if it would go too well. I know it's not all hivemind, but I bet a lot of them will say shit like "it's not real music," or it's "weeaboo shit" without even considering there are overseas vocaloids and many examples of global music besides jpop and kpop. Also the fact that some idiots think it's a "genre" and don't even look for their preferred music genre, vocal type or vocal range in Vocaloid music, despite a bunch of them spending hours looking for unlistenable, pretentious, hipster trash songs.

All I'm saying is even if Vocaloid didn't have such strong connotation with anime styled designs and virtual idols, people would still shit over it because the voice isn't "real" to them and would rather hear a mediocre person singing.

I think this is the best option for now, even though technically the first Vocaloids were english and there's much more to Vocaloid than Japanese voicebanks desu. I'm okay with talking about the image aspect of Vocaloids, but as long as there is still some discussion of the music aspect.

>>15118497
Damn. That's nuts. I might arrive maybe 3-5 hours earlier?

>>15118519
I mean I'd like to think that way for the better, but I'm still pissed they practically put the same songs as previous concerts that are pre-2012 and overdone to death. Kinda more excited to see Hachiouji in a way to balance that out since most Vocaloid DJs I have heard live at least put their own works, popular or not, though there are a few DJs that put the same 5-10 songs that never leave the Vocaloid Ranking and it irks me.
