If I went to Japan, I'd be super excited to visit this place. This guy is a moron.
>>
Quite liked it actually, Decent tour around an awesome store
The guy is ok
He doesn't know much about anime but he doesn't judge either
Seems fairly open minded, guess you have to be living in Japan
>>
Once I saw a ultra normie white tourist couple in lashinbang

Animate is for girls
>>
kuso thread
>>

Animate is, like, the most usual anime store in Japan, and you can only find the most common stuff, mostly airing shit. You might find a few interesting things but not at a low price.

Lashinbang or Mandarake are MUCH better choices. If you are lucky, you might even find some Touhou-dedicated shops (I have one in my city). But animate is for casuals, honestly. I keep wondering why I trying to find something in there everytime I go. Good thing the other stores in the same building are more interesting.
>>
>>15024654
He seems pretty cool and I like his shirt.

>>15024984
If this is just "the most usual anime store for casuals" I can't even begin to imagine what the more interesting ones are like.
Because, to me, this whole video was simply fascinating, I felt like traversing through some holy paradise land.
It's like a place that you only hear about in ancient legends never to experienced or seen by the human eyes.
I still can't believe this is real.
>>
>>15025125
>I still can't believe this is real.

That's because you never went there. Move to Japan, make some trips through Akihabara and there you go, it's all normal.

And Animate stores are indeed all over Japan and are very tame. Personally I focus on eroge, so I usually go elsewhere.
>>
>>15024984
>Touhou-dedicated shops
I heard the white canvas shop no longer have touhou specific floor anymore. Is this true?

Dude, don't you EVER go to a Mandarake, you'd die. Your average Mandarake contains thousand time more stuff than the average Animate, and rare goods as well. I'm gonna post a few pictures, this one is in Osaka.

The 2story shop at the back lane of chuo dori.
>>
>>15025162
Didn't know such a shop existed. In the big cities, I guess? I intend to go back to Tokyo in August anyway for the Comiket so perhaps I'll drop by.
>>
no that man is an average human being
>>
Fuck, I went to Japan last summer and spent a lot of time in Akihabara, and now this thread makes me realise that there still are some shops I missed. I really need to go back. Are there stores that have goodies related to old anime that aren't popular at all anymore and not relevant? I didn't find a single Spice & Wolf merch during my trip, I was a bit dissapointed
>>
>>15025146
>don't you EVER go to a Mandarake, you'd die.

I don't think I'm in any danger then.

I consider "old" anything that hasn't been relevant for a few years. I know it's not that old, but from what I saw it's like it was completely forgotten by Japan already. S2 was 7 years ago son...

You need to go to shop that sell used goods for old stuff. Mandarake is the most well known but Akiba has a few stores littered around with second hand stuff as well like that shop with the Mazinger mascot infront and another shop further up on the 6th floor at the chuo dori main street.
I think of all the shops I went to, the volks shop at den den town is the one that I like the most. Their staff over there have good taste with their display.

Man I miss the good time when I was in Akihabara for 3-4 year ago. They even have some toys show at Akihabara station.
>>
when will americans stop pronouncing manga as mängä?
>>
I'm going to Akihabara this year and can't work out what kind of merch I should buy. I'm pretty much going to avoid any DVDs/Games but don't want any figs (unless I see something rare).

What can I buy that isn't pins or stickers? I feel like I need to buy merch or it's a waste of a trip.
>>
>>15026524
>Akibarangers

Please tell me you bought one
>>
>>15026838
Artbooks, doujins?
>>
>>15025168
this one is literally in Akiba, Tokyo. Just one side-road off the main street.
>>
>>15026838
People go to Akiba to load up on doujinshi and that's pretty much it. Anything else can be easily bought online, and probably for less than it would be sold for in an actual store. If you don't have a big list of doujin stuff you're looking for then it really is a waste of a trip.
>>
>>15026838
Doujinshi.
At least that's what I'd buy if I was there.
>>
>>15027106
Also if you happen to go there, check out the garage sale on the exact opposite of the street. It's usually open on sundays, you can get some rare electronics like a Sony PVM monitor or various radio equipment.
>>
>>15024753
I don't think this guy has ever talked to a girl.
>>
I wonder if he only went with this shirt because he thought it would make him fit in.

I'm going to shoot myself in 2020 when the Olympics are happening and the board is flooded with videos of retarded normalfag gaijin like in the OP showing off how wacky and random xD japan is.
>>
>>15028713
Why not shoot yourself before 2020 then? I mean why would you want to see it?
>>
>>15024654
Actually a pretty cool, open minded guy
I love how goofy he is
Thanks OP
>>
>>15028837
I want to see everything I hold dear be destroyed by the normalfag hordes to really cement that there's no option left but to kill myself

I'm currently living in Hokkaido, my choices are limited. In Sapporo's Susukino they are soap lands with im@s cosplay, but that's about it for otaku shit

Sadly no.... Lack free space in my luggage and very tight with my budget...
>>

>If you are lucky, you might even find some Touhou-dedicated shops.

Tora no Ana has a lot of Tou-Hou stuff.
>>
>>15029028
Are you shitting me? You have a nice Mandarake right in the middle of downtown Sapporo, a few blocks from 時計台. I've been there and found a Kalafina single "Kara no Kyoukai" edition for 108 yen. If you search well, you might find good shit there.
>>
cool blog thread

I kind of like his video than that creepy weeaboo kid.

I like it more when I take reverse-weeaboo japanese engineer coworkers out mudding in a beater pickup and shoot guns. Yee-haw.

Thanks, I'll check it
>>
Is Animate the chain that Anime Tenchou is the mascot for?
>>
So where besides Comiket do people in Japan that like WH40k get their kits from?

Because I've met fans at comiket, they were nice guys, like 90% of them only play the Smurfs though. Back in the day apparently they had to translate the codexes themselves because GW didn't have official japanese translations done
>>
>>15033249

It's a handjob dude, how their faces look doesn't matter TOO much
>>
>>15025154

I do not own those. It's just a photo of the Touhou doujin corner in the Osaka Mandarake. I don't care much about doujin manga, I'd rather have doujin album, pictures or goodies in fact.
Doujin take too much place for the little value they have for me.
>>
>>15025218
I think he also means the online store :^)
>>
>>15033249
>Part time worker in a ski resort
Is that actually enough to get you a work visa or are you just freeballing it?
>>
>>15036979
It's enough, they are many Britfags and Australians there working as ski instructors and they don't even know Japanese at all
>>
>>15037254
Is it because it's not considered バイト or is it because they just don't give a fuck?
>>
Wish I had stores like this where I live
>>
>>15038048
Yes, it`s not baito, it`s full time job but just for about 4 months
>>
>>15038267
What do you plan on doing afterwards?
>>
>>15024654
Guy in OP's post just made a purikura video. I'd say normalfag all the way. But if I was in Japan, I probably wouldn't do this, it looks too well gay for me.

Speaking of Mandarake, that little room behind a curtain in +18 doujin section is for what I think it is, right?
>>
>>15038873
It's the kids section. People 18+ are not allowed.
>>
>>15038884
What do they sell back there?
>>
>>15038937
Sweets.
>>
what happened to the electronics stores in akiba now that it's aniota-land?
>>
I wonder if they put cute girls as clerks in porn sections in mandarakes to deliberately torment poor otakus
>>
>>15039037
They are all at the chuo dori back lane, same row with white canvas. Love them with they way they throw out a bunch of cheap stuff in boxes of containers on the road side.
softmap, big camera, yodobashi and all these big chain were a mistake.
>>
>>15038633
>Nye-ann
I fucking can't stand it when people can't pronounce foreign words right, especially one as commonly known as "Nyan".
>>
>>15028713
Akihabara is already filled with white tourists like that

I remember buying porn in animate and these two australian women with dyed hair were just walking around laughing at everything
>>
>>15039916
Yeah, but you don't really see them go to eroge floors etc. During my (frequent) visits I only saw another white guy once.

>>15039037
>>15039354
There are tons of electronics stores along the main street. Well, the big chain ones yeah. Like Laox, you can often see chinks being brought right before it by buses.
>>
What shops should I definitely see while I'm there?

I'm doing the Golden Route, plus some extra stuff on an itinerary, then taking a few days off to go to Akihabara. I'm going to the Robot Restaurant, but beyond that, I haven't chosen anything specific.

Any suggestions? Ideas?
