Cut half of it, it's the Tumblr/SJW cancer. The other half is pretty much the same as the good Touhou half. Still, Len'en 4 will be about 7 times bigger than a standard Touhou game and it's being done in about the same time ZUN takes to make a game, with random stages being the norm and Gradius-style upgrades also being a thing for begginers. Len'en's a good series, but you have to ignore a big part of the fanbase, like Touhou.

Fair enough, but isn't that true for politics in general? I've never seen a non-political online community that didn't turn to shit when politics was introduced.
Either way, I'm not sure we've all seen the same things, but I don't really see anything terribly different here from what normally happens to fan communities in the long run. I do admit that the pedantry of gender identity politics makes self-immolation a lot easier, though even with this I haven't seen anything come close to the utter shitstorms that are fan translator circles.
