I can't really tell what this (Otoiroha) is, but judging by that presumed input area, looks like Chunithm clone.

Which is fine with me because chunithm is amazing.

>>
Nostalgia is a Chunithm clone without the weird hand motions.

Otoiroha is SDVX with sliders instead of knobs and minus the FX buttons, with the BT's replaced with Jubeat buttons.

Otoiroha's sliders are the missing gimmicks from Nostalgia's Chunithm clone.

>osumania 4k
>4k
why?

If you want 4k play Stepmania.

If you want 7k play LR2.

If you want 8k play O2Jam.

The only reason to play osu is to play the standard gamemode and rage at the shittiest scoring system ever.
>>
>>14790983
You are saying that a rhythm game is a clone of another rhythm game when you remove every part that makes them unique, genius.
>>
>>14790994
Sorry, I worded that really fucking badly

Konmai tried to make a Chunithm clone, but they couldn't copy it outright, so they just copied the touchpad from Chunithm, made that one game and then took the funky handwave stuff and ported it over to SDVX to make another.
>>
>>14790989
Already have 40gb of songs for osu from my standard mode history.
I can play it with friends in multiplayer

huge song variety, community, familiarity.

Why would i download stepmania, LR2 and 02jam, when i can play 1~9k in osu which i already have, and has more songs?

>>
>>14773291

Why is this? I stopped playing LR2 for about a month and just a week or so ago picked it back up and am already way better than I ever was. Is it like some psychological hard wiring type of thing? A certain level of play is "cemented" into your mind so after an extended break you can rapidly accelerate from a new baseline.
>>
>>14791017
Not the person you are responding to, but I used to play osu!mania too (as well as the other modes). Because I liked songs from Bemani when I played osu!, I started playing LR2 after that. The quality of the song charts and the feeling of making the sounds yourself is incredible.

>i can play 1~9k in osu
Osu! tries to do everything at once and ends up with a community with overall low level of song editing, bland ranked charts. On the other end, bemani games (and their clones) excel in each of their specialty. Songs are intuitive and made to boost greatly your learning curve so the feeling of accomplishment is greatly increased. I couldn't even hope to play 7k when I was playing o!m, few of the lowest difficulty songs were playable. Not because there were lots of inputs to do, but because they were too random: you could feel the creators were not skilled in the art of making charts. Bemani games/clones also cover the range of 4~9k (Stepmania 4-6-8k, LR2 5-7-8k, Pop'n music 9k), but let's face it, o!m is basically 4k and 7k.

There is also no real interaction IN GAMEPLAY in osu, so it doesn't make it any different from any other rhythm game on that level. The sole advantage osu! has on multiplayer is that you are able to compare your dick with your friend's and chat directly from the client.

As for the quantity of songs, Stepmania and BMS (LR2) both have really old communities who created more songs that you will be able to play in your whole life. You just have to search a little more than osu (where everything is centralized on the website) but the reward is worth it.

And finally, there is the issue of the scoring system more based on combos than on precision. This is a continual debate and as a fan of taiko (also combo based), I won't say anything since other anons will probably put it in words better than me. But just for the sake of improving at o!m, you should play other games. Hell, it's even recommended on the guide on o!m forums.
>>
>>14791133
o!ms scoring isnt combo based
>>
>>14791145
My bad, let me rephrase it: multiplier based.
>>
>>14791162
osu memia doesn't have any weird scoring system like standard does, its straight forward any it kind of works.
>>
>>14790713
How do they expect us to enjoy it when it doesn't even go woosh woosh slam?
>>
>>14790840
It works in a chunithm-ish way, you only press the vague location of the notes.
>>
>>14791267
so the game employs mashing, just like chunithm too?
>>
>>14790772
I don't get it. When do you have to tap on black tiles?
>>
>>14791278
Yes.
>>14791294
When dark notes show up. There weren't any in that video, which is kind of disappointing.
>>
>>14791325

I can't understand why there were blue and yellow notes but he was only ever using the white keys. Is every note a chord?
>>
>>14791331
>blue
left hand
>yellow
right hand
>dark blue
left hand black
>dark yellow
right hand black

I didn't see any chords in that video but he was playing some pretty easy shit.

Complex chords across white/black keys are probably going to happen in higher level charts.

A shame about the mashing, however. It seems that continuous inputs are all the rage, compared to discrete buttons.
>>
>>14791278
Yeah, except it's konami, so they probably fixed Chunithm's mash to SSS problem.
>>
>>14791331
My guess is that a sort of beginner mode uses only the white keys, the twiter video >>14790363 uses them, but it seems like only darker ones require them.
>>
>>14791007
Was the handwave even fun

My beef with Chunithm was that it didn't have feedback and looks like the keys here help with that at least

>>
>>14790840
It feels fine. The depth of the button presses is pretty shallow (think jubeat but with softer keys). Unless you have like 'Princess and the Pea' levels of sensitivity, you probably wouldn't even notice during gameplay.
>>
Was there ever a non-mix version of force of wind released?
>>
>>14790259
Why is jp so shit at enjoying things?
>>
>>14791336

Konami just made the 'mashing' part of the design. Nostalgia is specifically aiming to make players feel like they are pianists so its designed more around 'musical expression' than hyper precision and the game is very upfront about it. Even though the scoring system seems standard Bemani, gone are the 'great', 'good' and 'bad/miss' timing window names, replaced with 'Elegant', 'Plain' and 'Dull'.

Chunithm on the other (though I do like it), willfully misleads new players over how precise you need to be.

You have it backwards. The boys on the bottom in that pic are truly appreciating the game's difficulty and intricacy, enjoying the game on a deep, personal level without exaggerated external reactions--the pinnacle of Japanese subtlety. Meanwhile, the boys on the top are just mindlessly flailing the sticks around to upbeat jpop. Any enjoyment they derive from it is as superficial and meaningless as their comically overdone Western projections of "happiness" they fire off in an attempt to mask their shallow connection with the game.

>>
>>14794948
Yup, it's really easy to keep as long as you don't go on a downloading spree as soon as you get in.

After like 200 MB downloaded and a bunch of freeleech i managed to get to power user in 3 months with a crappy internet, i invited a guy a while ago and he got to power user in just a matter of two weeks.

>>14795026
Sounds easy, had around 1.5 at BakaBT before I stopped caring since it's pretty shit, at around 0.95 atm
>>
>>14795026
Sows is literally the easiest tracker to get ratio on. If you get banned for falling below .4, you're probably too stupid to even be in.

There's save the world, occasional site-wide freeleeches, featured torrents on freeleech, and the dellar system which basically gives you free ratio even if nobody's downloading from you.

You don't even have to upload your own torrents, it's that easy.

I guess you get more points when doing all the inputs, so it will force more experimented players to play it just like a piano if they want to score, but to other players, just sliding to clear the song will be enough.
>>
So they took both of Chunithm's gimmicks and added physical/tactile feedback to them? That's pretty great, actually. I hope at least Nostalgia comes to the hamburger states some day

I can't fucking believe it. A new DDR game. Holy fucking shit.

Can't tell if I should be happy the game might not be dead, or worried that they'll fuck it up on a count of it being dead in the first place.

I wonder how many years it will take me to get anywhere near the top level players, if it's at all possible. I've only been playing for four months and spent most of that time polishing my precision from garbage to acceptable, but I feel like I'm already approaching my body's limits of stamina and footspeed. Can't see myself ever passing an 18 without incredibly shitty score. Still can't pass Delirium.

Mildly hype for new DDR, but mostly because any new charts are welcome. I'd like some actual new features, including those already done in Stepmania.

Start by playing real DDR and you'll get them.
>>
>>14800307

What the hell is this supposed to mean?

By context it seems like by "real DDR", you mean ITG. Well ITG is dead and all it was was a stamina gauging game. Having stamina is not having skill.

And furthermore, using phrases like "real [anything]" makes me incredibly angry, so please refrain from using them in the future.

Also, I'm not the guy you replied to.
>>
>>14800307
DDR hasn't added any new feature since shock arrows in X, which were a straight downgrade from Stepmania's mines because you're forced to place them in groups of four. Meanwhile Stepmania has added Lift arrows and chart warps to the list of features DDR doesn't have, which also includes handplants and rolls.

I tried to add technorch on steam and was rejected.

That guy is playing with a DDR2014-wannabe theme for stepmania and it sucks. It lacks stuff like extra stage/attack/replicant D-ignition with stars system and unlockable songs, dancing characters on background with specific BGA on monitors, sorting by genre or bemani game, see difficulties without hovering on songs, buggy timers, wrong judgement timing etc. Not even mentioning e-amusement. Nothing about ITG or gameplay features so stop being mad at nothing and calm down. Solo mines, lift arrows etc. are just gimmicks that didn't make stepmania any better anyway. DDR is good as it is, it doesn't need any more gameplay features or it would just denature the game without improving anything.

>>

Yeah maybe but not every place you play at will have a stool, right?

>>
>>14802035

Yeah, it's been like 10 years since I've touched a IIDX machine and I wasn't playing back then but I just couldn't pass up the opportunity.

I don't remember my height being too much of an issue though. I think I just split my legs to lower myself.

How tall are you? I'm 6'3".
>>
>>14802231
Exactly 6'.

I just get cramps on the backside of my hands because I lean forward, so that my hands are angled upwards which is pretty awkward for me. I could probably fix this by not putting my palms on the actual keys and just "floating" above the keys but I'm just used to it from my home setup which I just put on top of my laptop so it's pretty high up.
>>
you say everyone here works? EVERYONE?

well then your work can't last long, or your job must be real simple, those easy kind of jobs where you get to go home early, and you get to sit in front of the tv and play beatmania. You probably get to come before the sun even sets, cuz by the sound of it you talk like you are so free, and have time to learn autoscratch.

Also, bear in mind i'm talking about auto scratch for 10 star songs. You say it's lame? Then hey guess what most of us here or really most beatmania players are lame since not many people can beat 10 star songs with the autoscratch off and so we play with the autoscratch on.

Honestly no one is impressed if you can win 3 star songs with auto scratch on, but here you are telling me I'm lame for using autoscratch for 10 star songs? I think you're the lame one who spends most of his life on a game trying to learn the scratch for 10 star songs, thinking you're like a real DJ or something.

Get real, your beatmania controller is just a plastic toy, not a real DJ machine, ok? You're not a real DJ you're just someone with too much free time turning a plastic disc back and forth lol :)
>>
>>14802509
Oh yeah forgot to mention.

I remember when I used to be a kid who just went to school and did my homework and spent the other 6-10 hours of the day playing beatmania 2nd 3rd 4th 5th gotta mix 5 keys.

I had no problems learning autoscratch for any song, 6 star or above (not many existed then). I was a KID. I had TIME.

I also remember when beatmania dx came out in the arcade. Again, I was just a kid with no commitments, no job, so learning the scractch was also not an issue. Of course, it was difficult no doubt, but hey, unlike now, I HAD TIME.

My point is, anyone here who thinks people who don't learn autoscratch is lame or weaker than you, think again. It only means you have more time than us working adults. It doesn't mean you're better or superior, like it or not.

And if you say you have a job but still can BEAT TEN STAR SONGS WITH MANUAL SCRATCH then I can say your job must be real easy and relaxing for you to have SO MUCH TIME to learn the scratch for 10 star songs. I leave the house at 6 in the morning and come back almost every night at 9 plus. I only have time for beatmania on the weekends.

As much as I would like to train beatmania at home so that I can boast or lie on the internet about how good my scratching skills are for 10-12 star songs, money comes first. Life is like that.

That's right students, being an adult sucks, so try not to stay in school as long as you can ok. Then you will always have time to learn scratch for 10 star songs. Ok?
>>
>>14802509

Yeah, basically, i work from 8 AM to 2 PM doing almost nothing but sit around in an office waiting for something to be needed on the company's website.

And that way i do what i want instead of what other people want.

I'm new to all this bemani stuff, I still don't really get what bemaniso.ws is. Some people have told me it's a pretty shitty community to be a part of, are they just being butthurt? Why would I want to be there/what could I find there anyway?

If I'm mostly interested in iidx, how much am I losing by sticking to LR2 and learning by playing either original bms or iidx-songs-converted-to-bms? Should I invest in playing the older CS releases? I guess both of these options are more on the lonely side though.

>why would I want to be there
AC data, also rhythm game discussion and guides and tips for building ASCs along with answers to almost anything you have rhythm related regarding maintenance of your cab if you own one
>what am I losing by sticking to LR2
AC timing, AC data, internet ranking and rivals, a program that doesn't frequently crash depending on if your LR2 is a bitch
>should I invest in older CS releases
CS games are expensive and so are KOCs now, I'd personally stick with LR2 but some people may tell you differently
>>
>>14804136
>CS games are expensive
Not if you have a modded PS2.
But I will agree with you on the KOCs being expensive. I was lucky enough to find a brand new one on craigslist (bundled with BMUS for $70), but it probably won't be that easy.
>>
>>14804168
Yes, but if you're already modding your PS2 to pirate Beatmania you might as well pirate AC.

And if you're spending at least 70 on a KOC you might as well just buy a DAO at this point.
>>
>>14803795
The only scale + scratch pattern i've ever managed to do is the one in リリーゼと炎龍レーヴァテイン [H]
>>

I had to start somewhere. I only just got into IIDX two months ago when I bought the KOC and I wanted to know if I would actually enjoy the game enough before committing nearly $300 for a DAO.
