I'm confused. I thought Tokyo was expensive?

Why can I find a place for under $700 utls included in Tokyo but not my own shit town?
>>
If that images is supposed to be the place, then I would not even pay 10 bucks for it.

It looks cute to me, and it's better than the fucking mobile homes I find here.

Am I just fucked up for thinking a smaller place is more enticing because cheaper to rent, cheaper to heat and cool and easier to clean? Am I the outlier? What the fuck am I going to do with a 1k square foot house?
>>

Well smaller is great sure but I would hate to have my place stand out like that and be the on the literal corner of the street.
On the other hand, I prefer there to be a certain amount of space between the general living area and the entrance. Pretty much every place I've lived in had a small entrance hall that was separated by doors.

This one looks pretty decent,

Larger spaces requires more walking to go between spaces, and more energy costs for heating, and provide no advantages other than the feeling of thinking you are somehow richer by paying more for rent.

So why is it so affordable? Why can't I find shit in my local city, but I can in what's supposed to be the most expensive place to live on earth?

Anyone?

You live in a shitty overpriced area and you want to live in a house that's worse than the holes in the wall dwarfs in Dwarf Fortress live in. Those places all look like RPG houses with one main room and a bedroom on the top floor.

Just move to a less overpriced area and pay the same price while having a big enough place that you can roll over in bed without knocking the 1 roach that managed to squeeze into the hole with you clear out of the window.

>◇Rent Cost: 58,000
I can get all utilities included in a 3 room apartment here for that price.
>>
These "most expensive cities" rankings don't consist of only rents, but also transport, amenities, food bills, etc, i.e, average purchasing power.

I've lived in London, Paris and Geneva and while apartments for €400 a month were/are abundantly available in these cities, renting one wouldn't have made my wallet significantly fuller as everything from parking to alcohol to electronics are all outrageously expensive.

wheres that? Detroit?
>>
>>14730462
It's obviously just a meme. ~$30k a year USD is comfy for a bachelor. People who are bitter that their weeb dreams have died just spread it so other people don't want to go. It's not like New York or San Fran or whatever where you actually need to be rich to live there.

But you did your 2 seconds of google homework so I don't know why you even asked this.

>>14731418
I live in Detroit and unless this person is conveniently leaving out that 2 other roommates live in those bedrooms, you cannot find an apartment here for that cheap unless you live in some ex-crackhouse or you're 90 years old.
>>
>>14731418
Worse. Oklahoma City.

>>14731784
No roommates, no crack either. Meth probably on the same block. Lots of meth down here.
To be fair, i'd gladly pay the same price for that broom closet OP's showing if it had a better bathroom. Those showers just look frustrating to use.
