Super beginner here. I recently ordered a 21cm obitsu because I want to test doing faceups and whatnot on something that isnt super expensive. Anyway, does anyone have one of these and know what types of clothing or shoes fit on those bodies? Mostly shoes because I feel comfortable enough with sewing to fix bigger clothes to fit, but shoes would be pretty much impossible to make.

Not that anon but my experience is that they're all a bit loose in the waist area but that can be hidden with an appropriate top. The boot cut jeans otherwise have a perfect fit. The skinny ones are hard to push over the heel if you want a bodysuit under, otherwise you can obviously just take the foot off while dressing.

1) Try wig spray and gently brush. Wig spray/mist is basically a drop or two of fabric softener in a spray bottle filled with water.
2) Wet the wig in warm (like hot from the tap not hot from a kettle) water, hand upside down to dry

Ease up turbo there's a few things to consider before sticking a DD head on an Obitsu body. Afaik it's not a direct swap, a custom neck piece or some creative fuckery may be required and also the Obitsu body comes in 40, 45, 47, 48 and 50cm versions for you to choose from. Most of the differences being in the legs and arms, some have a shorter waist too.

The DD base models sell for 46k yen on the international store which is ~$400 with todays exchange rate, the new Candy model is rather cute imo. You'll have to pay for shipping as well which is about $50 extra. Another alternative is to go for a base body (~$260) and one of the unpainted heads (~$35) and commission a faceup. Commissions can cost between $50 to more than the body itself depending on the artist.
But of course, if you have your eyes set on a character model doll then expect to pay the amount mentioned by the anon above.

Volks sets aren't much cheaper for MDD, maybe $10-20 overall. If you're buying single pieces of clothing rather than sets, then the MDD stuff is a bit cheaper, but again, not by much.

Mainly I'm bothered by how she doesn't have any blushing on her cheeks at all. I got used to it, but she looks really lifeless next to another doll.
Her body's also a bit messed up. Her legs are creaky and don't stay on properly, and her feet kinda come off where they shouldn't.

Hello. I'm going to Japan in a month and I was wondering if anyone had any know-how or experience buying Dollfie Dream dolls from Japan? Can you buy them off the shelf from Akihabara etc. Knowing the quality of used japanese products I'd be totally okay buying second hand if the price is right and I'd find a really beautiful doll that I'd like. I'm an avid figure collector but BJDs are totally new to me and I'd be interested buying one while I'm visiting there. Also, no need to pay customs that way!

Well buying a Obitsu 50 was a fantastic idea! I finally found a body and wig that makes me love the nanami head. Now I will have to buy clothes and stuff any thoughts on what size she wears?

Also super surprised how soft she is. Compared to a DD she is really squishy. Also attaching the head required zero modifications or effort just a screwdriver.

I have had a love for dolls for as long as I can remember but it's not ok for boys to play with Barbie. I like Dollfie Dream because I like the anime look plus their size makes them more fun to dress and display. As for the creepy factor I don't know what that is like, I don't find them creepy but some people do. Uncanny valley I guess.

Most of the dolls you see in this thread are like giant action figures that you can change the eye/hair/clothes of. Or you can get a giant version of your waifu to keep you company.
Personally, I like having my dolls around to keep me company at home. Sometimes you just need a sweet face (or a few of them) to stare at you before you go to work or while you dick around on the internet at night.

Tried painting a face for the first time. It came out ok, but I think I should invest in some smaller brushes and better paint so the eyes don't look so sloppy. But I'm pretty happy with the way she came out..

Are you sure the head is attached properly? Your doll's head seems to be too high up the neck although the Obitsu bodies are known for having long necks when photographed from unflattering angles.
