The number of evangile wallscroll bundles has decreased from 23 to ... 22, and it has remained at the second spot on hardcopy sales chart. Additionally there is literally no number five on the hardcopy sales chart which is peculiar. Perhaps literally only 4-5 hardcopies sold this week?

If you're considering purchasing one of mangagamer's older titles, I would advise you to consider waiting a couple weeks. If the past is any indication, there is likely to be a valentines day sale of some manner.

> Seinarukana- in preorder

How long did Yumina stay in the 'preorder' phase, out of curiousity?
>>
>>14692911

You could preorder the game pretty soon after they announced it so that would make it literally years.
>>
>>14692751
Place your bets. What's going to enter preorder after Haruka?
Tokyo Babel is looking likely, or could Himawari endter as surprise?
Or maybe My Boss' Wife, for something that nobody cares for?
>>
>>14693262
Well, the PC version of Himawari is releasing next week in Japan, so they've finished porting it from the Vita, so it's a good bet for March.

Then again, a cheap nukige could be a good break from the heavier titles of Haruka and Yurirei.
>>
>>14693262
I won't be surprised if Boss' Wife ends up mid March with Supipara being the end, or vice versa.
>>
>>14693262

himawari's coming out in japan this week so I doubt it'll be that quick.

anime boston is march 25-27th. I wouldn't be surprised to see supipara 1 go up for preorder or come around then so mangagamer can try to get it extra exposure through the con news reports
>>
>>14693262
Himawari is nowhere near. MG side didn't even receive revised PC scripts, and after that translators will have to merge them with stuff they have and re-translate differences, and then send back scripts to frontwing for building eng version, then beta-test it, then send list of stuff to fix to frontwing for another build and so on.
It could easily take 3-6 months to do.

>You should see the kinds of reviews Gahkthun’s been getting “wow this game is so bad and dumb for <intentional stylistic thing>”
Gahkthun sales were average at best. This makes it clear that the english market isn't ready to support these kinds of VNs, specially when they're written in a style that most of the fanbase can't understand and therefore, those that review it usually don't really make a very positive review.

Also, there wasn't much discussion about Gahkthun and this doesn't help at all its sales. If it was a moege I'm sure there would be more discussion...
>>
>>14693444
Well, to be honest Sakurai steam punk and Liar-Soft games aren't that popular in Japan either.
>>
It's kind of interesting to see how nowadays the major parts of the projects are from official studios, I would've never thought they would last so much, let alone start releasing so many novels.
On the other hand it's sad fantranslations are dead.
>>
Not only is BB2 a much worse game than 1, its translation is also a lot worse than the first one's. That's a big deal, considering Aroduc is not that good in the first place.

Posts on /vn/ about Gakhthun are made by one russian retard, who was bragging on russian board how he "trolled" /vn/ with "otome shit" "meme".
Not something one should consider as public opinion.
>>
>>14693793

No it wasn't /vn/ they were actual reviews. It's not like /vn/ has discussed anything of substance about Gahkthun anyway, it's all "is this an otome game? lel".

I don't really care if people criticize games or dislike them, I just find it frustrating when the critiques are based on some fundamental misunderstanding or are, for lack of a better way to put it, "really dumb". I'd really like to read some thoughtful negative critiques of VNs to be honest.
>>
>>14693812
I've seen different posts warn people about it being repetitive. And there have been posts about people being 2 or so chapters in and wondering when it gets good. People think Tesla helping some of the students were "filler" chapters.
>>
>>14693568
Examples?
>>
>>14693444
Most people play vns for fun/fap and waifu-shitposting. I don't really know why someone unironically would waste their time reading that pretentious garbage with otome-style art unless you're literally braindead manchild like moogy and his gang. Read actual books for stories instead of fucking chinese porn games.
>>
>>14693826
>I'd really like to read some thoughtful negative critiques of VNs to be honest.

As it's a niche medium, I don't this is possible due to the self-selection among the readership. You will either end up with people that enjoy a title(or atleast don't hate it), or people that are retarded and were stupid enough to select a title that wouldn't be to their tastes on accident.
>>
>>14693444
They should've advertise it as "Buy Gahkthun now and get Oiran Rouge later!".

>>14693759
Although, I wonder which piece of shit VN reviewer reviewed it without playing the whole thing.
>>
>>14693826
I think you are looking at the wrong reviewers. Maybe not here, but i'm pretty sure the average VN reader is looking for something that light hearted with only drama at the end of a route. Which is why something like Princess Evangile was such a big hit.

Where are you even finding these reviews? I did a little search and the top 5 review from google are all pretty positive. Even reddit seems to like it a lot
>>
>>14693463
I'm curious about this now. Do you have any sales figures for her games?
>>
>>14694027

It's mostly stuff we get back after sending out review copies. We got like three in a row with a fairly high numeric score but the entire text of the review would be like "this was boring and repetitive and stupid". It's just kind of grating.
>>
>>14694036
There are sales ratings available from various shops. For Gahkthun on getchu, for example:

The only thing I can give you is an obvious typo from the end of the game, which proves lack of QC.
>>

But MangaGamer doesn't have enough money to pay off "reviewers" for those good scores.
>>

I wish.

Anyway, my point with bringing any of that up in that Twitter conversation was just that it's not only EVNs that get shitty reviews.

Thank you. I expect worse but 12th ain't so bad. Now on the subject of bad, I can't believe this was released in 2012. The characters themselves look nice but the gameplay looks like garbage.

12 of MONTHLY is very bad.
If you look at year/half-year rankings for 2012, its not present in list at all, because its below cutoff point.
>>
>>14694081

The gameplay is passable: rock-paper-scissors with some abilities at first, but then turns into a mediocre RTS.
>>
>>14694083
You're not giving many examples of either, so I thought I'd give you a benchmark.
>>
>>14694090
Oh. I just saw it being on a list of 30 and assumed it did better than it did. Interesting that it couldn't even make the half year rankings.
>>

I'm sure someone will start posting them soon enough.
If you want to see them right now, go on seiha forums, to the thread where people report TL errors.

>>
>>14694068

While not applicable to gahkthun, perhaps you might consider suggesting a recommended route when you provide review keys? Given how most VNs tend to have some routes that are more story-heavy than others, if reviewers aren't going to play the whole game anyway, they might as well be sent down a catered route.

For those reviewers that actually bother to play beyond common routes, at least.
>>
>>14694174
Read his Beat Blades Haruka review. He sounds like a different person.
>>
>>14694254
BBH was when he first started blogging and before he really began translating in earnest and turned bitter and hateful.
>>
>>14694201
I remember a review of Armored Warrior Iris where the reviewer thought the entire game was too hardcore for him, but by the sound it, he only did one playthrough, and likely didn't get the true ending. On top of that, some of the scenes, like Bunix, were tamer and he likely didn't see those.

All Rance translations are on hold. Alicesoft wants to see how well Beat Blades Haruka does first, before deciding what (if anything) to license to MG next.

Free Friends 2 is a pretty good nukige. Only thing is the music which it's kinda out of place at times. Besides that, it's a good fap.
>>
>>14694472
I played 1 and didn't really care for it. I've heard that 2 is more popular though.
>>
>>14694122
I did. For every one actual error, there were about ten people who can't follow installation instructions.

And of the errors, almost all are relatively minor gameplay things. If XSeed/NISA/T-K games had only that many errors, it'd be a miracle.

>>
>>14694775
Sekai should just start an alias and make kickstarters because their current brand is ruined.

I understand you're desperate to shill a floundering kickstarter that you support, but to shill here is a fool's errand. In fact, the harder you do so, the more you risk upsetting the more autistic inhabitants into concocting newer and stupider ways to attempt to sabotage it.

dovac forgot to drop today's part.
With natural rate down back to 2k$/day, its going to be interesting final race. With usual 2x increase during last 3 days, its going to be 14k$, bringing them exactly to goal number.

2K sales in four days is pretty good, right?
>>
>>14697584
They still won't hit any of the stretch goals, and Libra did better than it. Considering how famous and wellregarded Root Double is, that's pretty embarrassing. The devs could've got more money by just cutting Sekai out of the deal altogether.
>>
>>14697597
KS final surges are stronger than that, even Narcissu did 10k in the final day over 23k in the last 3.
>>

They made less than 1000 sales in whole January of 2014. So yes, its about 60 times better than what it was 2 years ago.

In RD's case, people might just wait for the game to come out in March. It'll hit its base goal, but after that I don't see it getting a ton more money.

>>14697619
Yeah, the steps they had to take to get this funded after a similar situation with Narcissu and Witch Boy's failure do paint a pretty grim picture of SP's future on Kickstarter.
>>
>>14697622
Final surges are about 2x increase on day-3, and then futher 2x on last day.
With only 2k they managed to get yesterday, they aren't going to get much in last days, unless they introduce some new super-amazing tiers.

>>14697618

It is important to keep in mind that there are 10250 potential orders since the 15th that are from the groupees bundle. The primary problem is that it's impossible to know how many of these have been redeemed. Judging by past bundles, people tend to keep redeeming keys for up to three weeks after the fact.

It's going to be very hard to nail down a guess for haruka's sales(yurirei's sales on mangagamer are less important to account for, as there is steam and steamspy, 90% of people will redeem the free steam key), but I believe the best way to do so will be to wait another few weeks, sum up the total sales that happened over the course of the bundle, remove the maximum potential sales of the bundle, and then use the popularity sort to make an assumption of what the top five really looked like during this time(thankfully there hasn't been any big sales or releases aside from yurirei and haruka so this should be more or less possible), and then proceed as usual. Of course, this guess will have a greater potential of being off then usual.

Of course I also hear the huniepop sequel could release soon. If that happens, it'll throw a wrench into the process.

They'd want a million dollars to license it, since Fate is so famous. It's not viable in the current vn market. MG can't get the rights to the all-ages version of OreTsuba and without it, it's likely not going to happen either. Do you have two wallets, one for story games and one for nukige? What they really want to know is what games you would buy. And if you're more likely to buy the story games, then they want to hear the story games and not the nukige.
>>
>>14699611

The way mangagamer will use this list is that they might actually approach some of the 100+ vote title's developers(that aren't retarded suggestions), and every other title on the list will be only be used in the manner that if a particular translator wants to translate that title, they'll point to the votes it got as "see? there's atleast a handful of people that'll buy it!".

So you might as well just vote for what you'll vote for.

I have backed multiple Sekai kickstarters, and I'm generally satisfied.

Fault: Received my Steam key and played it, entirely satisfied.

WAS: Better games have kept me occupied, and though I received my key a long time ago, I don't really care about it anymore.

Clannad: Received my key earlier than expected, and I'm quite pleased with the Sekai release.

Grisaia: I received my Kajitsu key, but I've been too busy with other VNs to finish Kajitsu (finished 2 routes and half of a route in the fan translated version). As I haven't finished Kajitsu, I'm in no hurry to read Meikyuu yet. I heard they censored Amane's route, though, so I'll have to re-install the fan translation to read that properly, not happy about that. I don't care about the porn (and am actively angry about Michiru's second H-scene taking away from an otherwise great scene in the original).

Narcissu 10th: Received Himeko's Epilogue key some time ago, earlier than I expected, but I've kept myself from reading it because it's been so long since I've read N2 that I'm not even sure who Himeko was anymore. Looking forward to the stories that aren't direct continuations, though.

Root Double: The only one I'm dissatisfied with. The early parts of the Kickstarter reeked of a lack of effort from Sekai's side, and the KS almost failed because of it. I'm glad I'm getting free extra stuff out of it, but come on. Nakazawa deserved better than this.
>>
>>14700105
So what you're saying is that you don't actually play most of the things you buy, and you don't care what timeframe they're finished in.
