You're right but sparkling big ships is a huge hassle so I prefer doing it all at once and then enjoying 4-5 straight sorties.
It was really annoying when Re was hitting with both torp and shelling and my girls couldn't avoid any hit so I gave up on sparkling. It didn't really matter because most of the retreats were due to crits (even fucking diamond Ta sent me home once, it was crazy) or focus fire on self-sparkled ship and majority of sinking protection instances were unfavorable despite theoretical chance of chuuha being higher. RNG was just out to get me that day, hopefully it will be satisfied until after the event.
I guess it's a lesson to never underestimate the map. Maybe I'll try Hotels+subs with supports next time.

That being said ex36 looks better to me since I send ex24 as well.
Ex 35/36's yields are almost all steel/bauxite, and I don't want two hours still on the clock when I wake up. And ultimately, TE is extremely convenient because you can get great results without sparkle, and the base yield is already amazing. So even if I'm not feeling like playing kanColle all day, I'll still do TE.

If your subs are sparkled I'm assuming it's just RNG. Might also be that married subs trigger overkill protection less making them more likely to get one-shot to red. I know that Imuya triggers overkill protection more often than other subs so I've only been using them.
