The usual rumour mill, it's not much to go on. Obviously it can just be like every year they say it ends until something definitive happens. Even after it ends who knows, a "come back" series with everyone could happen.
Matsumoto jokingly mentioned this is the tenth year anniversary and that's a good year to graduate on. While he was having his usual fun saying that maybe something may happen. One member retiring seems more likely then everything ending though probably not Matsumoto. I remember something from a TV program about celebrities who will never stop working and Matsumoto was brought uo.

You'd think it would be the lack of originality that would wear them down. I know routine is a massive part of Japanese Comedy. But the formula has gotten pretty ridiculously predictable in the past 5 years.

I miss when the losers/loser of a bet would be the ones going through the batsu rather than everyone. Having Matsumoto or Hamada behind the scenes giving advice what to do, I think, made it more thrilling.

It was alright. It's more the same with some small differences. I think the best new one they've down is the Earth Defense Force one. I think they're afraid of changing it too drastically and losing viewers.

Just because they're not in it doesn't mean they can't be involved. You remember when the show was meant as a punishment for losing a bet, and the winner/winners would be behind the scenes, helping the staff at, orchestrating some of what's happening, and sometimes getting involved? I imagine that's what would happen. Matsumoto said he never plans to retire anyway. But that's not gonna stop him from getting old.

It was pretty good, a decent amount of bait 'n' switches but still roughly the same current formula, the first half was pretty bland having to rely on live-translations, but the second half really picked up. Great for screencaps too.

I prefer the old format than the current one. But it seems to be more successful viewership wise with the current format so I don't think they will change anything if there will be another batsu game next year. Thus Downtown will be back getting their asses smacked as usual.
