Some highlights for your viewing pleasure.

>そもそも朱里って携帯を持ってるのか?
>Should I have been holding Shuri's cell phone?
朱里って motherfucker. What does it mean to you?

>「ちなみにこれ以上嘘吐くなら、着替えを見られたことを学院側に訴えます」
>By the way, if you lie any more, I'll file a lawsuit on behalf of the academy that you saw me getting changed.
Complain to the academy. Nothing about a lawsuit. Definitely not on behalf of anything.

>もしかしたら、お嬢様がちょっと背伸びして、こんな下着をつけることだって……。
>Maybe, if this isn't stretching it, Ojou-sama could wear this kind of underwear...
What's stretching, motherfucker? What does が mean to you? How the fuck do you not know basic grammar?

>いや、そんな意味不明な理由でキレられても。
>Looks like she isn't trying to be ambiguous.
It's talking about losing one's temper. This isn't even close.

Unfortunately, the paste is corrupt here.
>でしたら、下着を見られても思われなかったというのも……年頃の女の方に向ける言葉としては、如何なものかと
>If so, I question the suitability of that you didn't see anything, having seen her underwear, as words for a woman of age.

But this whole sentence is obviously a disaster, on top of translating "an adult woman" as "a woman of age."

It's clear he was just running words through machine TL and guessing from there because half of this shit is completely grammatically fucked.

Another indiegala bundle, another month of difficult to track sales. It doesn't quite appear to have impacted the sales tracker yet, however, as only one of the bundle's titles have charted at the moment(likely because the initial rush took down mangagamer's site, hyuk hyuk hyuk). We can presently see that gahkthun's already dropped to number 3, ousted by eroge being in the flash sale. 希望がない

As always, this tracker is powered by anonymous like you, so post order numbers if you got em'

Why everybody should buy subahibi when it comes out: Justified Shilling Edition

>You were never entitled to a free translation in the first place considering you would legally have to buy the game in japanese for a high price and the apply the patch.
Now, you will be able to probably purchase it for a lower western price legally.
If you pirate, you would have pirated it either way, so you guys don't count at all.

>KeroQ contacted TLwiki directly and are going to probably publish it themselves. Translation team is getting paid a flat amount. There is going to be no Kickstarter.
This means that the revenue that the developers makes from this investment is completely dependent on sales. If the cost to publish + pay translation team is greater than the revenue from sales, they will be losing money.
If they lose money from this localization or make meager profits, it is very unlikely they will have ANY INTEREST AT ALL in localizing SakuUta for the west.
On the flipside, if they make a good amount of sales, not only will they know the western market is viable, other developers will be able to see that directly contacting a translation team without going through MG/JAST/SP is viable.

This potentially means that translators can work on the projects they desire, and then contact/be contacted by the developers for a release without having to go through all the MG/JAST/SP "sorry you can only choose from these titles to translate" process.

Note: Since the team is being paid a flat sum, whether you buy it or not won't benefit herkz's payment so you can be assured that you're not improving his quality of life by purachsing subahibi.

>Subahibi was promised to release in like june 2015! wtf! now i have to wait 2016?? im not buying this!!
No, the announcement said hopefully and did not accurately gauge the amount of work left. During the work, TLwiki was contacted and they had no reason to decline,. Even if that did not occur, Herkz still would have delayed it forever because of his alter SJW ego.
Now, that it is official, there will be a CONFIRMED release date and probably a deadline so you're not left wondering if the project is dead or not.

This is completely unlike the "buy gahkthun buy haruka!!! propaganda you've seen before. This is actually completely revolutionary and could potentially decide the fate of the VN scene in the west.

Fan translations are not dead, they've just been revolutionized and given a new lablel as well as payment. People work harder and faster and are unable to stall projects when they get paid.

If you want to make visual novels great again, buy subahibi.
>>
>>14534898
Damn, first few times before I was laughing at EOP friends, but at this point I feel bad for them.

You don't deserve this treatment, friends. Raise your voices against it.
>>
>>14534932
is this from a text hooker?
>>
>>14534992
It's funny how you're saying it's totally different, but not one of your reasons is "it's a good game." It's all just the same bullshit SP spews (and MG to a lesser extent) about how good fans who want to support visual novels should throw money at them.
>>
>>14534992
The ``VN scene in the west'' can die in a fire for all I care. You can open up a random VN on Steam and look at the comments/ratings. That's your scene right there. Absolutely disgusting, that's all I can say.

If I wanted to support the creators of a particular VN, I'd buy/play the original to begin with.
>>
>>14534992
>This is completely unlike the "buy gahkthun buy haruka!!! propaganda you've seen before.

You're right, instead of an official partnership that will bear fruit if it is shown to be profitable we have wishful thinking that a single project will magically result in new official localizations.

Thanks anon, the scales have fallen from my eyes.
>>
>>14535010
Everybody who hasn't read it is already under the assumption that its a good game, especially everybody on /jp/.
>>
>>14534992
Fan translations are illegal and should ideally not exist. It is essentially copying someone's story, rewriting it in English (or another language), hacking their game engine, and releasing it under your name as a translator without permission.

Unless you are an advocate of slavery and believe that certain people should be required work for free for another party's benefit, you should not be advocating translators, editors, etc to work for free on projects that take a lot of time and effort that only benefits another party who happens to be criminals in this case (pirates). When a translation team works on a fan project, they are literally losing money by wasting their potential to use that time on a legal and real job.

Do you find it repulsive for people to be paid for work?
Translators and fan projects owe the readers/fanbase absolutely nothing. They have every right to set a project at 99% and never release it. If you have the energy to complain for years about the pace of a project like a spoiled kid, you probably have the energy to learn japanese yourself. Maybe along the way, you'll grow up and stop being garbage.

>**Message to fan translators:**
Stop working for free. You are acting illegally and are essentially advocating piracy. Do you think saying, "hey u can buy dis game here legally for like 80 dollars" on your patch release will get anybody to actually buy it? If you really want to translate something, contact the japanese developers for an official release that would be viably priced for a western game. Stop feeling pressured and entitled by the shitty fanbase that visual novels have

If you insist on working for free (for no fucking reason) go give your translation to the original developers for free and let them release it. That way, there will be actual growth in the VN scene.
>>
>>14535025
Not to mention the developers striking out on their own shit is already being done by Key and Frontwing, so there's no difference there from the normal.

Which would fit in nicely with how everything else is completely like the usual propaganda.
>>
>>14535036
Thanks for the crosspost from Reddit, shitposter-kun.
>>
>>14535010
What kind of a five year old reason is that? It's for you to decide if the game looks interesting to you or not, or do you need other people to tell you what to think all the time?
>>
>>14535036
Nice, being quoted to myself on my reddit bait. It's nice to see people actually read through all the crap I said.
>>
>>14535036
I essentially agree with your message, but the way you're talking kind of makes me think you're with one of the established translation ``companies'' (I'm only using this word in a lose sense, since MG/Jast/SP don't feel much like real companies given how they're run), and now you're afraid that Japanese developers are going to cut you out of the loop.
>>
>>14534992
Literally everything here is true for that Michiru piece of shit fandisk too. Your entire premise is fucked.
>>
>>14535050

>Complete original VN thats highly regarded in visual novel community. Anybody can read this and enjoy.

>Short fandisk of a visual novel thats somewhat highly regarded. Require reading of source material to fully enjoy.

Comparing Subahibi and Michiru is like comparing a game and comparing DLC of a game.

Michiru is essentially DLC of Grisaia. Adds nothing to story. Fanservice. Not a lot of content.

mikandi better hope that the holidays were just a temporary impact on their pace, because now they need to start averaging 1.5k a day instead of 1k to make it. They're still just -ever-so-barely- charting on time due to kickstarters being elliptical and them being 48% funded at 42% of the way through, but that might change in a week if the pace doesn't pick up.

Fan logics. Being unable to write on a forum for 5 days is worse than having to wait 3 months on crash bug fixes and see your pre-order game be sold by 50% discount.

Sometimes I hope more people start fan translating again so that we can get all the sequels that official companies are holding off on because "it only sold in the hundreds".

If any companies took his advice, it's the Japanese developers trying to enter the English market on their own and have no idea what they're doing.

JAST, Sekai, and MG all do their own thing, and all have their flaws about how they do it. They all listen to fan feedback, but he's just one person out of 100 or 1,000 giving their feedback.

>>
>>14536508
How are they going to earn decent money with no storefront and likely no way to promote it?
>>
>>14536547
Who knows. It seems like distributors are exactly the right choice for this. I don't understand how KeroQ is going to sell it themselves since they have no experience with taking money outside of Japan and having an English support staff. And who's going to build their site?

Perhaps they'll rely on moogy and co. to shill it and do their marketing for them.
>>
>>14536562
People are smart enough to import products, so they can sell it in their own stores. The tricky part is selling it in their own stores with mosaic removed.
>>
>>14536380

Yeah, fuck Winged Cloud. And MG can go fuck themselves for promoting them AND Tilley.
>>
>>14536626
Very few people are going to go through the hassle of importing. International business has always used distributors for a reason. Anyway, I was mostly referring to digital sales though.
>>

It's probably because the Winged Cloud publisher account is actually run by Sekai.

Obvious post by someone involved. Sakura games are nothing but erotic art, they can't be called games nor can they be called novels. Most of them can't even be called sex games. Stupid comment. If NukigeGamer wants to endorse that shit, they deserve all the criticisms they get.

The Rance situation was hyping everyone up to expect that there would be two Rance releases in Autumn-Winter 2015, including the big one in Rance VI.

And then go "I lied. Buy Haruka and you might possibly get it"*

*Arunaru didn't lie

It might no longer be a fan translation but at least Subahibi is the game they're releasing

>>
>>14537533
decent for its price point. You are retarded if you are comparing 5$ game to 80$ game.
>>
>>14537800

First - Sakura games are 10 dollars. Sakura Santa is being sold for 10 dollars, so is Sakura Spirit.
Second - There are no $80 VNs sold in the West
Third - World End Economica - 13 dollars
Fault Milestone - 15 dollars
Higurashi - 6 dollars
Planetarian - 10 dollars
Eden - 20 dollars
Which leads to point number four - Fuck off, shill.

Moekan won't happen. Scaji seems to basically be embarrassed by it these days. Nijuuei won't happen either, unless the remake they were planning actually gets finished someday. In which case it won't actually be Nijuuei.

I think I've got some idea what's causing the problem, but have no idea if there's a better solution than what the game is doing.

It's a 1080p 15.6" screen at 150% dpi, because text is too small for me otherwise. The problem is that some programs, vns included, don't scale well, and become blurry and don't fit the screen. I had to disable scaling at high dpi settings to make the vns stop being blurry. Since Gahkthun is unable to scale the program, it scales my desktop resolution while the game is active instead. Interestingly, the Ren'py engine doesn't cause this, and I can fullscreen Ren'py games no problem.
>>
>>14536317
>>14538534
Gahkthun's game engine is old as fuck. Games that switched desktop resolution to go fullscreen should have been dead years ago, but the engine doesn't use any modern graphics API (like... directx anything), so has no other options.

Please provide link for vvav or herkz ever saying this.

Uhhh. It's still made by fans for fans. Its just now that the fans who worked on it are getting paid??
are you saying that vvvavvv is no longer a fan of subahibi because hes going to get paid now?

Most translators who work on VNs are visual novel fans.
It's different from someone being paid to translate an instruction manual.
>>
>>14539240
Wait are you seriously arguing against that for the longest time there was no doubt this was supposed to be free?
>>
>>14539243
Then just say right so from the start. "We are working on this, the expected release date is xx, the price will be around xx".
>>
>>14539244
VNs are never "supposed to be free". You was supposed to import copy from Japan for 8000 yen + proxy + mail, and apply patch to it. Now you are getting it for less than 4000 yen.
>>
>>14539246
How exactly were they going to do that when they weren't even sure it was really going to happen until just a few days ago?

Its seems like you are getting overly righteous just for sake of being angry.
Also, seeing how japanese companies tend to operate, its quite likely, that they were asked not to disclose any info intil the whole deal is set.
>>
>>14539256
Running their mouths about what? It being a fan translation? At the time, it was. Then things changed, but they couldn't say anything about it until it was a done deal. I don't really see any other way they could have handled the situation. Aside from vvav simply finishing the translation earlier, maybe.
>>
>>14539269
It doesn't look like moogy had permission to disclose stuff even now. vvav was angry at him on /vng/.
>>
>>14539246
But they weren't planning from the start. It was originally going to be fanproject. And like most fan projects, there are no deadlines or planned release dates.

At around 98% through completion (~October 2015), they were contacted and had no reason to refuse.

The only possible wrongdoing was waiting until Christmas Eve to announce it and the lack of information in the announcement.

If moogy explained everything on like a post on the tlwiki instead of a couple of tweets and some chat in IRC, people wouldn't be so angry and confused.

Just be happy that we've received an update on the project and now know that its not dropped/stalled forever and will release soon.
>>
As annoying as it is when a fan translation gets that extra delay because of official release, I really do enjoy the butthurt entitled babies coming out to bawwww about it.
>>
>>14539277
>The only possible wrongdoing was waiting until Christmas Eve to announce it and the lack of information in the announcement.
Moogy waited until Christmas Eve because that just happened to be the earliest point at which he felt sure the deal was done. Even then, he thinks he probably revealed more than he should have.
>>

>But after a moment of recent discussion, Keisuke has said that he wants to release a "maintenance patch, kind of like a courtesy" in the future, but not the very near future. And after seeing another person point out that I had accidentally changed a hyphen to an equals sign at the last moment in a certain scene, I was compelled to oblige. So it seems that we'll be factoring in various errors into a final touched-up patch."

I'll be committing a sin by linking this, but Fuwanovel has a good guide on making various PC VNs run on Android: http://forums.fuwanovel.org/index.php?/topic/1323-android-visual-novel-lets-play-visual-novel-on-the-go/ . I've been using VNDS to read Inganock on my way to work lately (I walk to work, so there's not many options other than using my smartphone) and I quite like how it works.

If you're commuting by train, I really recommend a laptop instead. You can't beat the PC experience.

What's wrong with bringing a handheld console to work? It's not like you have to show everyone you're bringing one to work every day if you're that ashamed of it. And if you genuinely think 'doing that is for manchildren', reconsider that irrational viewpoint. Why wouldn't you bring a handheld entertainment device on a train/bus ride? They're made for that.

Some CC companies don't want to approve EC-Gate transactions though, because it's an international charge for most. If you're sure you typed in you CC info correctly and it shows an error message, then you should call your CC company just in case, because they may have locked your card due to fraud concerns. If you run into this issue, then paypal would be the better solution.

Twenty years at a loss every year.
This is not enough information to be indicative of anything.
Unless Sekai Project is incompetent, then it is possible, and in fact likely, they are being put "in the red" to start more and more and more projects every year because the prior year's was so successful and they are spending more than their profits on licensing new projects. Do you get this?
A better indicator for their health would be the # of projects they are working on with a release schedule for the projects for this year, next year, and the prior year.
