Secondary hate on /jp/ is a popular meme, but in reality the games are poorly programmed trainwrecks that also have almost zero plot or contribution to the canon besides introducing new characters. Almost all of the canon comes from the manga.

Find one you like and persist at 1CCing normal in it.
Look up the mechanics for that one.
Know about streaming (barely moving to one side to avoid things shot directly at you) and think about where to look/how closely to focus on your hitbox depending on what's happening. IE don't tunnel vision on your character when it's relatively safe, watch the whole screen and then focus down when it gets more dense.
