Maybe I should have read the back before tearing up the book.

Maybe I should have read the back before tearing up the book.

Anyway, what do you guys think about this? Should I respect the wishes of the author?

Context?
>>
>>14512338
What the fuck. Somebody using the internet to share files?! Such atrocity must not be tolerated.

You're free to share his files and he's free to commit glorious nipponese suicide out of sheer and petty spite.
>>
I should also mention this is the only English on the entire book (besides a few words in the title).

The intended audience is obvious.
>>
>>14512338
What kind of book is it? If it's some non ero shit, just upload it.
>>
>>14512338
This is written on all of his books and it looks like most of them are already uploaded on panda, so it'll probably get uploaded eventually anyway
>>
What an asshole. I say fuck him.
>>
Anyone threatening to cut off his nose to spite his face deserves to have his bluff called.
>>
>>14512338
You should upload every single new work of his, consistently. Make him decide whether to keep up the policy or only do one-offs from now on.
>>
>>14512571
I, too, shit on random artists who owe me literally nothing because I'm mad they didn't give me more.
>>
Upload that shit.
>>
Make a good enough product and I will buy it eventually to support the creator.
>>
>>14512596
This isn't what he said at all.
>>
>>14512338
Dude, listen to this guy >>14512470

He writes that on all of his books, and literally almost every single one got uploaded.
Did he stop making them?

Of course not.
Don't be silly, there's way too much cash to be made.
>>
Upload it if it's the Youmu one
>>
Upload it, he's bluffing
>>
I really hate this kind of dumb guilt tripping.

I seriously doubt that anyone could name a favorite artist that they found from just leafing through random shit at comiket or buying randomly from a store. I support the artists whose work resonates best with me, and I can't think of a single one that I've paid for without at least trying a few works from the same author first via piracy.
>>
>>14512805
No you won't you fucking liar
>>
Man, I really hate it when parasite pirates try to justify their cheapness with all sorts of blatant lies (I try before I buy! He isn't losing a sale because I would have never bought it in the first place! Make a better product and then I'll buy!)
>>
>>14512805
>>14514579

I guess the biggest problem with this belief is that to "buy" the product in this case, you have to jump through hoops and pay additional fees, whether it be shipping fees or the costs to attend Comiket.

Second off, since the desired product is usually the English scanlation (except for porn), piracy is inherently involved.

Thirdly, people often self-select for anime intentionally because it is cheap-as-internet, and anime/manga consumption would most likely be stifled if piracy was stifled, rather than a large increase in purchasing.

I really don't know what to say. Obviously, the people who go out of their way to buy those translated Fakku releases are rare, but I bet there are more of them for each release than there are Westerners siphoning shit from Comiket.
>>
>>14512377
>>14512338
Do you honestly believe that uploading will do more harm than good? If so, keep it for yourself. If not, go ahead and share it.

As I see it you'll be advertising his works among the audience which would have never bought it in the first place, so there are no lost sales.
On another hand, an author clearly stated his position himself, so if you have enough respect for that, do as your heart tells you.
>>
He sounds like a teenager posting in the 4chin.
Don't tell anyone about 4chan! It's my secret club!
>>
Who's the artist?
>>
>>14514681
try to guess genius
>>
>>14514606
The only stuff I've imported are from artists I know from scanlations. Why would I buy stuff I might like when I can buy something I know I like? I have bought licensed stuff randomly, but very rarely.
>>
Thanks OP.

I guess it's time to fap to some Youmu.
>>
>>14514606
Does he provide any option for western devils to purchase his works?
If it's just a stall at comiket or an online merchant that refuses to sell to foreigners then I don't understand his motivation unless it's merely spite.
If anger is to be directed at anyone, it should be the Japanese that eagerly fill up the IP logs of various Western sites devoted to this phenomenon.
When I'm bored I look at the peers of my active torrents and Japan is only second to the US when it comes to representation
>>
>>14515453
Japanese consumers don't necessarily like the "this is doujin, you can only get it at doujin conventions" idea either, especially if they can't get there or it sold out before they could buy it.

The guy you quoted is right though. People who try to justify piracy are dumb. Just fucking pirate it and shut the fuck up. It's like they believe piracy is somehow stealing themselves and try to feel better. Someone who bought the item is sharing it with you. Accept their kindness and don't make up bullshit excuses.
>>
>>14515453
>If anger is to be directed at anyone, it should be the Japanese that eagerly fill up the IP logs of various Western sites devoted to this phenomenon.

Exactly.

But instead he wrote it in English, as if it's the foreigners who cause him the biggest "loss" in revenue.

>Does he provide any option for western devils to purchase his works?

Of course not.
I could maybe understand his complaints if his works were available digitally, but most of them aren't even in stock in any of the online stores, so the only way to get them is from random auctions.
>>
>>14515633
You are not entitled to be able to ever experience any of his works, no matter how much you may want to.
>>
>>14515665
And where did I say that?

All I'm saying is that writing that message in English makes no sense.

Nope, because so many Japanese people are overly selfish over their creations.
Art and culture are made to be shared, not sold.
If you try to make business with art, it's not art anymore, and you don't deserve to get the respect artists deserve.
So share it.
