With euphoria continuing to chart for the fifth week in a row, I wouldn't be surprised if it's beaten kns2 by now. I wonder if it'll get a hardcopy?

In other news, I'm also slightly surprised at Sakura Santa's weak performance, relative to the other OELVNs on the chart. It's only managed to chart a single time at fifth place since being open to preorders. Meanwhile the AJtilley games and Sakura Swim Club have been charting regularly and well in the same time frame.

As always, this tracker is powered by anonymous like you, so post order numbers if you got em'

Mikandi's kickstarter's got a date. And supposedly a further goal cut that's yet to be revealed. If they're smart they probably cut it to 100k. But judging from their last cut, it's probably 150k.
>>
>JAST having an update.

Truly a christmas miracle.

Apparently the KickStarter for 2Roots is going to only 120k
where 30% goes to Translation

So Lemnisca is making 40k, split between TL and editing?

Is that a lot?

Seeing how root double is more highly regarded than their other doujin crap, it would've been possible to probably ask for a higher starting amount, with more going toward paying the translators too.
>>
>>14450082
>Da Capo 3 - 68% translated, 50% edited

Only 2 more years to go.
>>
>>14450207
It's going to be overfunded anyway, the base amount of their goal won't matter much.
>>
>>14450225
I'm not sure. Narcissu is a more popular franchise and that barely made 50k.
>>
>>14450260
Narcissu made ~100k and it only took $20 to get a copy of the game. Root Double will outdo it easily.

I can't believe the goth-loli vampire doesn't have a route. That was one of the main selling points, IMO. She has a really big spot in the cover and everything.

>>
>>14450150
It is more of a miracle that the Sakura Swim Club would even sell at all. It is the same game everyone has already bought at Steam, but with revised script. If you can revise scripts and make a ton of sales, there is a huge market for all the other VNs.

Sakura Santa will probably pick up later since right now it is uncertain if it appears on Steam.

Someone on Reddit vntls is guessing that the next game Conjueror is translating is ChuSinGura 46+1

Is he right?

>Of course, the truth is obviously that SP is using KS as a preorder platform, even though that's very much against the ToS,

He has a point about Sekai Project overusing KS, but the only way someone would consider this a ToS violation is if they have an intense hateboner for SP and just wants to shit on them at every opportunity.
>>
>>14451658
What do you think "for personal non-commercial use" means?
>>
>>14451678
There's also all the parts about being honest.

A project where all the work has been finished before it's funded obviously doesn't need a kickstarter to fund its work.
>>
>>14451678
What are you talking about?
>>
>>14451718
...The part of KoS's terms of service that explicitly specifies it's for personal, non-commercial use.

But I see now that you're not equipped for this discussion, nor I suspect any.
>>
>>14451731
>The part of KoS's terms of service that explicitly specifies it's for personal, non-commercial use.
I think this is the most retarded thing I've read on these threads

Clearly these projects were for personal use only right? Pebble raised $20 million on the platform for non-commercial use right?

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/muvluv/muv-luv-a-pretty-sweet-visual-novel-series
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ouya/ouya-a-new-kind-of-video-game-console
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/597507018/pebble-time-awesome-smartwatch-no-compromises
>>
>>14451756
And yet, there it is, right in the terms of service. Maybe you should familiarize yourself with them, as well as what project funding is and the entire theory behind stretch goals.
>>
>>14451766
By your argument, all the most successful projects on KS would be a violation then. They're most definitely not personal or non-commercial. Please tell me how those projects were allowed to go through then, when KS so readily takes down projects that go against their ToS or for copyright infringement problems?

Besides, the tos clearly states
>Kickstarter is for your personal, non-commercial use, except as explained in section 4 and section 5 below.
where section 4 and 5 basically say "fulfill your backers"
>>
I love memes.
>>
>>14451783
Easily. The funding is to bring a project to completion. After that, you can do whatever the fuck you want with it, commercial or otherwise. You cannot use it to sell products already completed. You cannot use Kickstarter as a storefront. Those would be commercial uses. And those are the differences between those Kickstarters and this one.
>>

Well, seeing how they went from Sekai -> MG, it's safer to believe that this one will be also MG, unless there is some very compelling reason they will go back to Sekai. (money)

I don't really think they care or know about Sekai vs MG's reputation in the west, so it could go either way.

Either way, its the translator and editor that determines the quality, so who it goes to doesn't matter aside from like release schedule. (hi jast)

Wishlists for licenses seem kind of silly to begin with. You already got a pretty good sample size of what sold from the previous titles.

It would be mainly new genres that they might want to poll. Yuri? Futanari? Lolicon? Shotacon? RPGmaker games? Platformers?

To some extent you could do it for new partners also. But most suggestions I've seen are always "This game also has cute girls" or "This game also has plot twist". More or less the same things, but from other publishers.

Does it even differ between years though? It is always the same hyped stuff over and over until someone (usually SP) grabs it. What 2015 games do we have that are so awesome they would be on the next poll?
>>
>>14457148
MG didn't post past the top 10 for a reason, I think up upper numbers likely had some solid choices. The more games that get licensed, regardless of who, causes the list of desired licenses to change yearly. New partner acquisitions also effect which games people ask for.

MG polled people on alot more things than just licensing choices. Peoples opinion of MG and what they'd like to see improved/changed were also brought up. Marketing data about the current userbase is important to keep updated on as well.

You can notice by the interviewer speech that he looks at SP as the savior of VNs with a competition pretty much non-existent. He also shows a very superficial understanding of several aspects of the market so you can't expect a informative interview when he's the one doing the questions.

>It doesn't seem like anybody's pushing for a Favorite partnership with any official companies anyway
Well, I posted on MG forums requesting a partnership with Favorite and also requested it on MG survey. I believe there were several others as well requesting such a partnership on the forum.

On another note, I'm disappointed on the guys related to the fan-translation of Favorite games because for some reason made by themselves, they have no intentions of porsuing a official release (as long as no censoring is involved). This shows hom much respect they have for the company.

That chain of twitter replies is quite long.
Some interesting things about the titles MG chooses to localize and their pay have been mentioned.
Doddler himself said that he's almost paid enough to work full time.
>>
>>14467814
That's kind of depressing. You can tell the amount of love that was put into KnS2. Lets hope at least Gahkthun does well.

I do have to wonder what the adult/all-ages split would be like in general if both had access to the same number of users.
>>
>>14470606
Theoretically, can't you check that on torrent sites? You have access to all "torrent users" on them, and you'll see if they prefer all-ages or adult versions.

Unless you want to claim porn focused human torrent more.
>>
>>14470868
Pirates are not indicative of what an all-ages version would sell, especially as the point of an all-ages release is to get the exposure of a Steam release.
>>
>>14471201

>>
>>14472431
MG markets, they just do it completely incompetently.

>>
>>14472446
>If its reception, sales, and reviews are anything to go by, it's well below decent too.
That's because they failed to make good product out of good individual parts.

Anyway, what I've tried to say that there's huge difference between product which aimed high but failed (because thing they tried is very hard to pull off) and product which aimed low from the very start.
>>
>>14472437
Dies Irae - 80.91, 932 votes.
Evolimit - 77.82, 624 votes.
Libra - 66.59, 17 votes.

Yeah, just like Clannad and Harukoi Otome are from the same niche.
>>
>>14472468
Well, the end product of either doesn't seem like something I'd want to read.
>>
>>14472474
I didn't claim its "as good" as evolimit, niche means sector of market and type of game they aimed at. Succeeding is different thing.
>>
Kickstarters are better than selling games simply because they're self propelling.

A: Far more sites will cover a kickstarter than bother to review a VN, granting far greater exposure
B: As the kickstarter hits milestones, it will generate even more articles, even more exposure
C: People who pledge often feel driven to inform their friends, generating even more exposure.
D: The "Limited" nature drives people to buy whereas a storefront they can just leave to buy later, and then never get around to it

>>
>>14472514

>>
>>14472505
KS is good just for the publicity aspects, yeah. Too bad it's also exploitative at the same time. But it does get the most money out of the people who want to see it happen. Because there are plenty of people who will drop $150 to get dakis or random shit, which would be more hassle to sell separately. There's already over 10 $150 pledges on the Libra KS.
>>
Kickstarter "is better" because the amount of money made, success, and popularity is visible for everybody to see.

If people see a kickstarter catching on fast or already over goal, they'll be more inclined to believe the product is good and worth backing and follow the bandwagon hype train.
After MuvLuv made the goal in 8 hours from previous fans and new interested fans, it continued to get more from its momentum from even more people who didn't read it, as well as the rewards.

On the other hand, the only way we can see MangaGamer's success is through order tracker man on vnts thread on jp or on twitter/ask.fm from the developers themselves which is very obscure.
People also like physical goods, but the only physical products MG delivers is either a hardcopy (sometimes) or that wallscroll.

KnS2 was also a sequel, so the audience was already limited to people who read KnS1, whereas Libra is a fresh brand new material who was given a lot of pre-hype with the prefundia and reddit discussion and now the KS.

Narcissu 3 barely made the KS because it was a sequel sequel, so people would have to plan to read it, or already have read the first 2.

You should read game first.
Long and gaudy battles, grand plot culminating in apocalypse, heroines dying left and right and so on and on are not things that could be called "generic trashy moege". If anything, having route heroines dying alone disqualifies it from moege genre.
