I started reading Occultic;Nine but I'm only a few pages into volume 1. Too busy with video games. I'll probably be playing Monster Hunter X when my copy of Hakuchouki gets here. Oh well.

Start to middle of the story is full of lovey dovey diabetes inducing scenes but later it turned into stupid shit about MC's inner turmoil about HIM NTRING HIMSELF BY INTRODUCING THE GIRL TO HIS BROTHER.
The shit is become more stupid when it's clear as a day since page one (not really, but still) that introducing the girl to MC's brother will lead to disaster cause they both have the same interest--reading. Not to mention the girl is an author and MC's brother read her works. But for some fucking stupid reason MC doesn't realize this (even though it's mentioned from the start that he has fucking inferiority complex to his brother) and just asked the girl to come to his brother's room to see his magnificent collection of books. Of course she's blushing and happy and shit. MC then realizes he's stupid and starting to fucking ignore the girl.
Of course later NTR didn't really hapen but the way MC acted really disgust me. He's a pathetic excuse of human being. Oh god I'm so fucking mad.

How to tell if a Lightnovel is particularly difficult to read? Are there certain publishers that are generally easier/aimed at younger readers?
I'm working my way through NGNL right now and keep tripping over net-slang and other words I don't know yet. Apart from the slang it's surprisingly easy to understand. Last time I've been to Japan, Akiba's ToraNoAna staff suggested me to try the Haruhi novel. Well they said something along the lines of "Foreigners mostly buy this one", which I interpret as "Baka Gaijins that can't read often mistake this for a Manga".
Any advice/recommendations you LN Senpais could give a beginner like me?

I started イリヤの空、UFOの夏 after watching the 6 episodes anime that left me on despair, man the final 3 episodes were really good and depressing.
Iam looking forward for the last two volumes that covers them. Can you guys recommend something similar to this? a short LN about boy meets girl love story or anything short and good really. Iam new to LNs and cant stand all the chuuni/ harem romcom ones.

They are already finished. Mimizuku does have a sequel (毒吐姫と星の石) but it works very well as a stand-alone story. Looking through my collection here I also found Aru Hi Bakudan ga Ochitekite, a collection of short stories about time. Not exactly the best thing out there but it should be good enough to help you getting used in reading LNs.

Well it's about MC who is a genius at everything except being social. He find it hard to control his urge to boast about his achievement. The heroine does look nice at first but she's ultra sadist inside. Somehow i feel the joke bit too much and kinda over the line sometimes. Making fun of other's misfortune is a huge turn off for me.
