I legitimately thought Akiduki would be the worst farm of the event, but then I tried to farm the mother sub. That preboss gold sub has sent me back like 40% of the time. Does it get better once the RNG balances itself out?

and i have no problems whatsoever sinking her after debuffing
if you really are not confident, i dont think it matters much whether you do it on easy or medium given your levels.
the most annoying part of the map on hard is node J. If it's the Ha-class lineup, you fight multiple DDs that can cut-in on your ships.
From what I'm reading on wiki, both easy and medium look more or less the same since they don't have the Ro-class variation on that node.
if you plan on resetting the map after you're done farming, then ofc do it on easy. but I don't think you should have any problems on medium post debuff, and that saves you the trouble of resetting the map. E-5 is kinda long since it's divided into two sections, so ideally you should avoid having to reset.

3 CLTs are recommended to have a good obasan killrate
Put your hardest-hitting ASW ship as fleet 2 flagship instead of bisko. Obasan/Wo won't attack till the 4th slot in nightbattle so there's not much of a point to have her attack first and risk a crit from the SS(boss) that survived the day phase
An AA cut-in ship is highly recommended crippling the 2 route nodes, which I usually assign to Maya in the first fleet, since ASW duties are way more important (so no duki DDs)
Turn-sequencing is pretty important. Notice the non-offensive maya tucked at the bottom, Kiso on 4th to target the boss, and 4-slotter as flag(2nd) to finish off the boss

I just began playing today. There's a lots of think I don't really understand, but I think things are going rather well. I just cleared 1-4. I have a few questions though.
- My whole collection as of now is 2 CA, 3 CL, and lots of DDs. How should I compose my fleets ? My main fleet is 2 CA, 1 CL and 3 DDs.
- If I get a CV or a BB, what should I change ?
- During night battles, my CAs often do nothing, while my CLs and DDs deal huge damage. Why is that ?
- I just barely won 1-4, with a B-rank and without sinking the enemy flagship. I need more firepower to go beyond that, but how to get it ? Is gettings loads of ressources through daily quests and try my luck at building ships the only way to get stronger ships ?
- Lastly, my best ship, Chokai, almost always ends up being the MVP. Is it bad that it's always the same ship being the MVP ?

DDs both had AACI, CAs had Sanshiki, and I had enough FP for AS+ at I.
This was on medium, got ~90% S-ranks.
I can't fucking S-Rank Node M, the boss always survives chuuha'd/taiha'd.
My set up is this:
3FBB, 1 BB: 2 red guns, 1 yellow, plane
CAV: 2 zuiun, 2 red guns
CV: 3 reppu, 1 saiun
CL: 1 red, 1 yellow, night plane

I don't think this setup works well against anything.
2xred, AP shell, plane like normally or red, yellow, radar, plane to for effective PT removal
2xred, type3, plane for CA and put them to the bottom of escort fleet
Torpedo cut-in won't work against land boss so change those torps to yellow guns.
Also you could change that starshell to searchlight and put that DD to top.
Still no Arashi, but at least all those from E5 Maruyus were very useful.

2xseiran almost always yield better result than a lone torpedo slut opening torpedo and they provide you with 2boats capable of doing double attack during day battle.
The only reason you would need a torpedo slut is due to your inability to cut-in.

CAV are definitely good in the map, but I wouldn't say that their opening is always better than a CLT. I can't kill the elite late models with it and it leaves the regular late models alive 50 percent of the time.
