I beat it with a guide once, then several years later (three/four years ago) I beat it guideless and was basically blind besides some basics. It took quite a while, but was still in the span of one night.

I reinstalled an old copy of rpgm2k2 to ope the game in it and use that as map because fuck endless scrolling "exploring" of empty maps with nothing inside.

Tried it recently
I chose the first door on the left and wandered around a forest with a strange scrolling ground. There were two stones or something on the ground and walking through them brought me to an area where some deformed version of the girl chased me. I escaped, found a frog, went back to the stones because there was nothing else to do and got caught. I could only walk on four flashing tiles but nothing else, I even used that frog's "ability" and it did nothing.
I woke her up, saved and haven't played since. I don't want to use a guide if I go back but it seems like that type of game.
Good game, straight up dropped it after reading shit on the wiki.
Why can't people just make games without adding in the whole 'rape and tranny' shit.

While mostly I agree with you, I'm still inclined to believe there's some sort of sexual reference still.
Through the number world, there's a zipper, which leads to a phallic creature rubbing a pole up and down, into a shocking 'face' that forced Madotsuki to wake up.
The zipper leading to such a sequence of imagery just about enough to convince me.
