If you are particular about quality or getting your rip as close as possible to the R18/DMM download (which isn't great quality to begin with really) this is how I recommend you capture.
Find a hardware capture card that doesn't lock you into a particular software solution, and lets you do uncompressed capture of 1080p29.97 (Blackmagic Decklink Mini Recorder). If you're lucky, your video card can also output at 29hz. Let's say you'll use a laptop to a PC in this example.
Run the video through R Player Plus on your laptop, with the HDMI output to your PC's capture card. Make sure it's outputting at 29hz. Setup your card in a program called Amarectv. Just make sure you setup the hardware sections properly with 1080p29.97.
So that you don't need crazy fast storage, for the codec setup x264vfw in lossless mode (google it if you get stuck). This will give you the equivalent of a raw uncompressed capture, but using x264 in a high bitrate/lossless mode so that you can just write to a normal 3.5" HDD without any bandwidth issues/drops on the hardware end, since normal raw uncompressed needs really fast disk speeds and ridiculous amounts of storage. It's also going to use barely any CPU in this mode.
When you're done, check your capture. The file will be huge. Encode this later with some good settings (plenty of guides out there). Keep it at 29.97fps and don't bother encoding above 6000kbps x264. Might as well compress the audio down to v0 mp3 or lower. I think from memory it's only ~128kbps anyway in the original DRM file.
I haven't figured out how to get any software to capture the video at it's proper 29.97fps rate so idk about software methods. You could in theory for most software use x264vfw in the same lossless mode. Basically you want to do an initial capture at highest possibly size/quality, rather than trying to do it all-in-one on the first go - Encoding properly isn't going to happen at realtime playback speeds unless you use shitty settings. The FPS capture issue with software is why you see some videos with stupid file sizes and the frame rate at like 50fps+
I'm pretty sure the source vids are at 29.97fps, you might get dupe frames and weird shit capping at 30fps. Someone that knows more than me can hopefully shed some info.

Both Dxtory and Fraps allow for 29.97 fps and 59.94 fps capturing, not sure about OBS.
Someone please try it and post results. Unfortunately for some reason by blackmagic decklick recorder has random black frame flashes, aside from that the capture quality is flawless.

Captured via amarectv with x264vfw codec in lossless mode, and then encoded in megui.
I encoded the audio as ogg q5 or q6, can't remember, then used the megui bitrate calculator so that the file size of my encode would be the same as the original DRM file. This ended up in megui showing the bitrate as something like ~5900kbps which is probably a bit high really since x264 compression is a lot better than what the original DRM file uses.
The issue I have is random black flashes. You should see some if you watch. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the capture card and PC (I think I read somewhere that x58 motherboards can have some issues with these cards?), or if maybe I'll get lucky and it's just a HDMI cable issue. I know it's not the laptop I'm capturing from since I tried out a macbook I have and got the same issue. Using a 5m cable which should be fine anyway, and I know it's worked in the past just from PS3 to TV. Unfortunately I don't have another PC to test the capture card in at the moment. I'll try a different shorter HDMI cable tonight and see if that fixes the black flashes.
If I can fix the black flashes then I'd say this is a pretty solid method now that R Player Plus is here, and seems to play videos with barely any frame drop.

Trying the Avermedia LGP Lite. Recording at what it calls "30fps", can't go to 29fps if it matters. No black flashes (hdmi cable made no difference for the blackmagic card).
Max quality you can set for the recording is 60mbps which it does in hardware. It's only marginally worse in quality compared to the blackmagic card due to the hardware encoding happening.
Way easier and just works though so far. Could be a good solution for people since I think they only cost for like $100US? Will post a vid up later.

The only problem with the Blackmedia one was the black flashes, right? Have you tested whether the black flashes are consistently placed? i.e. do they always flash at Frame XYZ or do they flash every X minutes?
If it's the latter, you could do two recordings and cut the movie properly, without any black flashes at the best possible quality. Just takes quite a bit of work. But simply knowing when the flashes occur would be helpful.

Bare in mind that the R player + is still not absolutely 100% perfect without dropping any frames, not for me at least. I expect that some time down the line we'll have a wide spread proper undrm method, at which point a ton of HD videos that have come out since the change might do another round but with their lossless versions.

You don't need to write a script, avisynth just isn't the best way to go about that. I mean, you're not applying filters anyway, so why would you go with MeGUI at all?
Using something like TMPGEnc or Adobe Premiere would be much better suited to erasing black frames manually, but simply removing them is going to increase stutter there, whether that's an improvement at all is debatable. You should rather figure out what's causing the black flashes. Try capturing something else with it, something that doesn't use the R Player Plus. That way you can check whether the video player itself is the problem, or whether it's something with your card/card software/settings/whatever

the format may be different on which program you use, use this with crf=20 to crf=23 you will have guaranteed quality no matter resolution and amount of action on screen

So basically I wasted half a day fucking around with the blackmagic card. As I suspected... it worked perfectly fine another PC (no black flashes).
I put the card back into my main PC, and turned off all of my CPU overclocking... low and behold the black flashes are gone.
For a little background - this is a X5650 in a Gigabyte EX58-UD4P motherboard. It "works" though it is not supported. For one I can't do restarts at all, the pc never comes back. Full shutdowns only - you can imagine how fucking long it took me to install Windows after I'd formatted.
Secondly - I suspect this is what caused the black flashes - For some bizarre reason, when this chip is overclocked in this mobo, the system cannot keep time properly. I can set NTP to sync up, and like 15 minutes later my clock will be out. It counts the seconds too fast. This trickles down to everything, shit like countdown timers on programs or time elapsed are constantly wonky and too fast.
Either way this shit works near perfectly now. I'll give a CRF 21 encode a shot.
btw the laptop I'm capturing from is some lowly core i3 with a Radeon 7600M series GPU. CPU usage sits at like 2% for R Player Plus. If someone can try R Player Plus on a beast rig - see if it still has any frame drops at all. I suspect it's basically the same across most hardware and the drops (not many with R Player Plus) are not performance related, but just the shitty silverlight software.

Looks like a decent encode although there is some pretty obvious artifacting around the lips. At CRF 23, that's to be expected and probably not as bad. It's just a little difficult judging an entire encode by just one scene, especially since it doesn't look like one that's got a ton of movement.
It'd be interesting to see how the guy on sukebei who recently blasted out all these FHD uploads does it. I'll snatch one of them and check the encoding parameters out, might take a while though, I've got shit internet here.

I've gone through the capture + encode and it's transparent at CRF 23 + very slow mode and some other settins. Lowering the CRF any further makes the file size larger than the original DRM WMV, which is totally pointless.
I did get the black flashes to stop with the blackmagic - it was to do with my CPU overclocking on this motherboard (find the post above somewhere, it's a weird combo. 90% of people should never have this same issue)
The capture is at crf=0 / "lossless" using x264vfw. After that it is re-encoded to CRF 23.
I can assure you that crf=0 with x264vfw is transparent, if not a cunt hair away from 1:1 with a "true" raw capture. The blackmagic can do true raw capture but you need a huge SSD or a raid array to support the speeds and storage it needs.
Either way I think this is better than most of the shit out there atm, certainly trumps dioguitar crap.
The more people willing to fiddle with this stuff the better, until we get a true DRM removal method (or maybe one day R Player will be flawless and never never drop frames but I doubt it)

So as I"ve said before check the source resolution to be sure, maybe they use something worse and scale up in the player... you might try to scale the result to 720p to achieve better file sizes...
And as I've said above, don't do the screencapture at crf=0 because it may affect the re-encode after it to a much bigger filesize....(the encoder thinks there is detail that isn't there)
