Sameface is same
This artwork reminds me alot of SaGa Frontier.
How do you draw chibi looking sprites? Its like there's some mental block that prevents me from drawing anything less than 5 or 6 heads tall.
>>14213467
Probably child size head at a giant scale. Then add the deformed body and throw in the small cute details.
>>14213467
it's fuckin easy dude
hi /jp
meant to post this in the roll thread
but like most things in the past, it is gone now
>>14215180
looks nice, not sure about the caption
>>14215180
That's really great
>>14211066
Aside from the sameface, you have some serious anatomical issues to deal with. Leg to torso-ratio, head-placement, stance... Pretty much everything. It's a nice concept though, so keep the practice u.
>>14214239
Something about her head is really putting me off. Or his?
But nice and plump otherwise.
>>14215180
Bomb-a-head!
Pretty great dude, love the facial expression especially.
The Touhou-Album turned into a two-man-project. So far I got two songs pretty much drafted out and two more in the making.
Still looking for test-listeners, so if anyone here is interested and wants to help, please contact me.
[email protected]
I drew some things but they're shitty and not /jp/ related so I won't post them.
I just wish I was unemployed.
>>14216316
I bet they're more /jp/ related than your OC-less blog post.
>>14213863
This method seems legit, but I'm still bothered by how to place heads when there's no neck.
Also it feels like drawing someone in a kigsuit.
>>14213847
Are those cans of beer, cans of beryllium, or cans of bromine?
I've been working on and off on a metal arrange of Freudia Battle from Rosenkreuzstilette since 2009. The song structure's pretty much done, I just have to record it. Link to the MIDI is below, feedback would be appreciated.

How the chibis be comin folks?
Welp, please be gentle.
>>14219382
I really like this
>>14217204
The composition is complex and diverse, I guess, but...
Honestly, the first half is almost unbearable to listen to without being annoyed or unnerved by the sound of it.
you placed notes that are adjacent on the scale in a chord and that only sounds good or interesting in some places, not if it's a constant thing in the overall song. Complexity is good and all, but you need to write with harmony in mind. If it doesn't sound good, people won't care for how complex it is.
Around the 106th bar/beat though, it gets pretty interesting and nice. It starts off slowly with a melancholic melody and progresses into a fine bridge into the next part, in my opinion this could even be the songs end without regrets.
At the 154th beat, it get's a bit annoying again, and at the 166th beat, everything is back to its terrible sounding pace...
To sum it up, you should change your musical priorities. Instead of focusing on what's complex and diverse, shift your focus to what sounds good and then apply complexity and diversity TO IT.
It has an interesting pattern in terms of songstructure, not unseen, but also not overdone, so I recommend changing the said parts a little up to the point the sound good enough.
This is just my opinion though. If you like what you did yourself, then keep it up - But I really recommend you listen to my advice, even if just for my own hearing pleasure.
For something you worked six years on, I find this lacking in all kinds of places. Don't let this get you down though. You seem to have the knowledge and skills to improve on it.
>>14219382
really nice, but i'm kinda disturbed about the height of the hair, if that's what you call it
try lowering it down a little and it should be alright
though, how do you manage drawing young girls? i've been having trouble going into the lower-age range
>>14219799
>but i'm kinda disturbed about the height of the hair
If you watch Nobuna No Yabou enough you might get used to it. Everything above the eyes is set to be quite tall, but it *can* be considered passable.
>>14219799
Not him, but big heads, big eyes, low set faces, no boobs, none at all, and shorter porportions. (like 5-6 heads tall)
>>14219519
What do you mean by "sounding good" though? Could you give specific examples of what does and doesn't sound good, what's wrong about the pace, etc? Is it because it's in a Swedish Death Metal style to begin with?
>>14221018
No, that really doesn't have anything to do with it, since I am a huge fan of Death Metal of all origins.
What I mean by "sounding good" is sounds or notes that harmonize with each other and are comfortable to listen to. For example, using a C and C# to form a chord only works in specific situations, but you chose to conceptualize that kind of pattern throughout the whole song, which in my opinion was a bad choice.
Of course it all depends on how you are going to arrange it. There are ways to make it sound great - again, I wouldn't recommend doing it throughout the whole composition - but I would have to actually listen to the finished song to jugde that. Maybe I just get the wrong idea from what I listenend to so far. But it looks to me like you disregard the use of scales in your work.
>>14221100
Oh, like dissonance? I wasn't aware there were so many parts like that. Is it dissonance in between all the instruments that's the problem, or that in individual parts? To be honest, I don't really look for scales or anything, I just do what "sounds good" to me and I usually get positive feedback from the results. This is pretty helpful though.
>>14217204
I looked up the song and I didn't find any resemblance.
>>14221192
Dissonance is probably the right word to phrase it, yes.
Although I am not sure about it, since that as well is something I occasionally find me enjoying.
The problem I had that it was going on pretty much throughout the whole song, at least in what I suppose will be the rhythm guitar.
Will you be arranging the song sometime soon? So I know what exactly you had in mind.
>>14221332
Really? The interpretation is kinda loose sometimes to fit the genre, but most of the parts are quoted from the song.
>>14221441
What do you mean by arrangement? I thought that's what it was, at least by the doujin music definition.
>>14219382
This is super cute! More, please!
Did a pumpkin.
>>14221682
I am talking about porting the MIDI to actual instruments.
Playing what you composed on a real guitar.... something like that.
Don't you want to do that?
>>14222076

Not for the area in the image. It looks like you're about to descend into some cave. Music sounds more like some near the surface tune. It's okay as music for the game concept in general. Maybe even title screen music.

your colours are overall too light, dont shy away from some darker colours. your shadows are also too close to the base colour, makes it feel flat. if you want to be lazy you can slap an overlay filter on it (dont overdo it though). i'd suggest not saving binary-lined pictures as jpg, you get nasty artifacts.

Pick some old cartoon with cute girls and make stupid, violent comics vaguely about them. Nanoha, Hidamari, and Lucky Star are probably good choices. When you run out of ideas, put together a bunch of blank black pages and blank white pages, and intersperse them with a few scribbles of stuff you saw in Nihei comics. Once you get tired of doing that, go back to working on your good silly comics.

Hi /jp/. I'm the anon from a thread or two ago that started to write some stuff with magic and guns and war and magical girls and autism and politics. I've laid out an overview of the settings. Below is a small excerpt, and the rest is in this pastebin:
http://pastebin.com/S8xpaMya
>----------------------------------------
It is the Industrial Age, where magic and science have allowed Civilization to reach untold heights.
Magic, once reserved for the elite, has become more accessible for more and more people. With the creation of Magic Refineries - factories dedicated to mass producing useable magic stones, magic has found use in a person's daily life. On the other hand, the use of magic in warfare also reached a fevered pitch.
The invention of the combustion engine has revolutionized transport, allowing the travel of vast distances with unprecedented speed, and the greater expansion of empires.
With the discovery of electricity, the modern person's life has transformed unrecognizably. New machines such as the telephone, radio and television came to the fore of communication and entertainment.
Events begin in the first day of Spring, of the Year 1932. After the collapse of the Arian Empire and the subsequent land-grab, the world finds itself in a relative calm as armies are forced to a defensive stalemate, in the later years of the domination of magic and gunpowder of the battlefield which has rendered attacking even a slightly fortified position an act of folly.
In secret, however, newer and more terrifying weapons are now being developed, using the combined might of magic, science and industry, to break this uneasy peace. At the same time, intrigues and machinations form in the shadows, awaiting the perfect chance to reveal themselves.

At the moment, I am hashing out the background and the general mechanics of the world, as well as fleshing out the various actors in the world. Below, I will post a summary of a very important aspect of the story - the mechanics of "Magic". The full texts can be read here:
A Primer On Magic - http://pastebin.com/eEZ1es6x
Advanced Topics On Modern Magic - http://pastebin.com/LNaaFYLx
If there is a specific topic you'd like to read about, do let me know. I've actually written a whole lot more, including stuff about certain groups, events, and even one (which I'm still being autistic about) on politics. But for now, I'm trying to introduce the most fundamental concepts first so people won't get confused later on.
>>14277372
Magic, as the term will be used very often, refers to two different things depending on the context: First, it refers to the energy inherent in some special stones. Secondly, it is also used to refer to the learned ability of humans to manipulate this energy and create real-world effects.
Almost any human can use magic to some extent, or at least, has the potential to do so. However, the most effective and most modern spells usually require skill and talent to use, so, for a long time, Magic was reserved for the educated and wealthy elite.
Magic is a naturally occurring energy found in special stones known as Magic Stones. There stones are usually mined or quarried, and it seems to be a replenishing resource - as magic is used - it returns to the world to be recovered again.
There are 5 known disciplines of magic. Four of them are grouped into a category called "Formal Craft". Formal Craft, Red, Blue, Green and White magic, is what is referred to as "conventional" magic. The last, Black magic, is most commonly referred to as Witch Craft, and is regarded as abominable, dangerous and inhuman.
A. Formal Craft
1. Red Magic
This discipline covers all spells that ultimately convert magical energy into light or heat. These kinds of spells find most use in military applications, but some are useful in industry, specifically in producing electricity.
Examples of Red Magic are Beam Projection spells, and Thermal Conversion spells.
2. Blue Magic
This discipline covers spells that use a fundamental technique of "solidifying" magical energy, i.e. converting it into force. Spells in the blue discipline find most of their uses applied in self-defense, such as barriers, but some are also useful in industry and engineering.
Examples of Blue Magic include spells of: Barrier Craft, Force Projection, Pinpoint Defense, and Magic Platform.
3. Green Magic
This discipline covers a wide range of spells that affect the functions and structure of a living body. They are typically spells that improve the physical and mental ability of humans, and those that degrade them.
Green Magic discipline includes Augmentation spells, Mind Clocking spells, a wide variety of spells that attack or enhance a person's magic capacity and, finally, Magic Coating.
4. White Magic
This discipline manipulates magical energy itself. White magic is usually used in magic reclamation, restoring a person's damaged magic capacity and in logistics.
White magic typically covered a range of supporting spells, like Restoration, Magic Battery, Magic Transfer, and so on, but recent, failed, research in Royal Azalea suggests that White magic may hold a hidden destructive potential, possibly surpassing that which is possible with Red Magic.
B. Witch Craft/Black Magic
Considered an illegal discipline of magic to study, Black magic revolves around the relatively new concept of absorbing and storing magic directly in a person's body, effectively creating a living Magic Battery.
The processes involved in doing this, however, are incredibly dangerous and unimaginably cruel. The end result is also mostly a failure, killing the subject.
Furthermore, in the process of doing this, which involves "ripping out" a person's magic capacity, a person who does succeed in becoming a "Witch", as the end product of this process is called, cannot any longer tap into the magic from magic stones, as they are lacking any magic capacity. Instead, they need to transfer magic into their own body directly from others, a process that tends to damage the magic capacity of the victim, as well as causing physical harm.
Finally, there is a wholly different field of magic, under Black Magic, which they have sole and exclusive access. These spells are also unlike others in that, unlike any other spell, which, after casting, leaves residual magic that either returns to the world or it can be reclaimed and placed into Magic Batteries, Black Magic transforms magical energy into a new material - physical materials of varying kinds, which allows unnatural spells that, for example, create firestorms, shoot bits of glass, and even produce living monsters and give life to inanimate objects. This means that the magic is forever lost and cannot be reclaimed.

Weird but charming artstyle you got there.
I tried the other day, /jp/. So.. which is your favourite Rembrandt?
I really need to try to improve my lineart.
>>14281846
I'm rather boring so I'd say the night watch but it is a nice image. I like the folds in the clothing and detail on the carrion.
>>14281846
>look guys I drew myself being an artist
>look guys I'm a girl on the internet, notice me
fuck off
Hey artists/writers, you guys wanna start a skype? Seems like we're mostly working towards the same stuff
>>14277372
Thanks man, was looking for something just like this
fight scenes are hard to learn to draw if you have no references
>>14281846
fuck you're amazing WY
tbh more of a romanticism/hudson river school faggot (or hell even mead schaeffer's cool)
if had to choose prob storm on the sea of galilee
couldnt appreciate rembrandt its like he's got contrast set to +50
side note, any idea what's that painting where the dad murders his son and starts mourning? might've been done by some german dude

>>14283607
I don't know the artist but it sounds like the subject is Ivan the terrible.
>>14283558
Do you mean you were looking for a sort of fantasy/ww1/2 warfare setting? If so you may be in for a treat.
I don't know how often I can go on Skype, but I'm definitely in this thread much more often.
>>14262652
Great news for you.https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bravecadet/i-draw-manga-sketchbook-and-reference-guide/Although, I'm still getting some Western style vibes. But what what the hell do I know. I can't draw either.
>>14283046
I imagined it more as a loli Rembrandt doing the painting. But if that's your interpretation then fine.
>>14283607
Hudson river school? Good taste. I'm not sure if this qualifies as that, but pic related is one of my favourites. I agree with you with rembrandt's contrasts. He's not my absolute favourite in that regard.
>>14283639
You're right, it's Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan.
>>14283639
>>14284215
>ivan the terrible
nailed it. thanks guys
>>14284215
>loli Rembrandt

meant like more contemporary/logical magic (but magical nazi battlions? neatt)
also yeah this thread is great but the fact everyone's on/off + anon kinda makes it hard to talk
>>14216071
Sorry, I haven't been able to make anything without feeling like I'm a piece of shit recently. Phenomics is basically dead unless I find a vocalist, and it's so difficult when I don't like leaving my house.
>>14284268
>meant like more contemporary/logical magic (but magical nazi battlions? neatt)
Ah, yes that too. You'll be hearing a lot more of it and all the crazy things a developed military-industrial complex can do with it.

I still think you need more moody music like mine instead of regular music. The game you are making is awesome, but it needs music to set the mood, I'm not saying mine is correct, but it needs something to make the player feel like they're actually there instead of just jamming to the music.

I wish I knew you in real life so that every time you stopped drawing I could punch you in the dick. I need more.

What is her facial expression and body language trying to convey? Explain it to me like I am a 12 year old. Also, the location of her right arm looks so awkward/painful.
Seriously, what is that baka trying to tell us?
>>14284353
The strongest can wear any expression she wants without needing to convey anything
>>14255723
who are you
who ARE you
>>14284353
>What is her facial expression and body language trying to convey? Explain it to me like I am a 12 year old.
I also do not know. Maybe contemplating the wonders of lambda calculus.
>Also, the location of her right arm looks so awkward/painful.
Thank you, I found out too late. Does it look passing at least? I tried to make it as leaning against wall out of the image. Is the problem because the arm is raised too high, placement of the hand, or something else? I will be grateful for your helping me better understand.
>>14284446
Depending on how you meant the pose to be, there can be two reasons why the image looks weird.
1) Her right arm looks as if her elbow should be located precisely at the very edge of the image. If this is not what you meant to do, then that is your problem - that arm is too long.
2) If you intended the elbow to be positioned at the edge, then her forearm is missing, or it is mispositioned.
I did Kagerou

>pic related
Fuck. Forgot my pic, silly me!
>>14284276
I'm a little confused right now. Are you who I think you are?
To the anon artist who emailed me his work, I'm really sorry for not replying in a timely fashion, but in the off-chance that you might be here, I'll just say that I'm satisfied with the design you sent for the Album Cover and we should keep in touch through mail to discuss it further!

those are cute glasses on her, i'm glad she's wearing those instead of contacts
>>14285542
That's some insanely ugly font.
>>14285710
It's a plain, clear, easily readable font. What's wrong with it?
>>14285947
It looks like someone grabbed your image and put some text there in 10 seconds. It's not that the font itself is ugly, but it doesn't fit.

/jp/sies I want to try making a comic
I wanted to try a 4 koma but I'm not sure I can follow the story format. It seems hard to come up with things that end in 4 panels
Any tips?
>>14290642
Start with the beginning and the end joke then fill in the middle two.
>>14290642
I always wanted to do a 4koma as well but I can't draw at all. The quick witty style of humor in 4komas always appealed to me.
Just read some other 4komas for inspiration
>>14290642
4koma are generally unfunny shit, so you can just do whatever for 4panels and you'll be on par.
>>14290642
1. INTRODUCTION
2. DEVELOPMENT
3. TURNING POINT
4. CONCLUSION !
>>14277097
cute, do you have a blog or something?
Anyone know where I can find a replacement Intuos pen that won't cost me an arm and a leg? Mine's broken.
>>14292251
havent heard of any alternatives to the official store....hope you find something, though
cute painting btw! Reminds me of ghibli haha
>>14292318
>>14292251
Reminds me of anime from 世界名作劇場 , probably because she looks like a character from one of those kinds of books.
Actually staring at it for a while, it looks like Ranma. Is that Ranma?
>>14292385
Ranma? In a casual dress?
>>14292392
It's not a casual dress, it's a school uniform.

I bought a G-pen, paper and ink
I'm gonna do it /jp/, I'll make my own weeb comic

It's funny because weeb comic looks like web comic and most web comics are weeb comics.
>>14298299
I know this sounds awfully beginner like because we all know it's the artist and not the tool etc. but what program and what brushes do you use? I really dig the general aesthetic. The image in this post actually does not really invoke this aesthetic to me, which is interesting.
