So how fucked is Corona Blossom Indiegogo?
>>
Mangagamer has 3 new partners.
Guess what they are.

It's obviously not kamige so don't say something stupid like Light or Giga or August or Makura.
>>
>>15308796
Whirlpool, ASA Project, Saga Planets.
Or something similar.

After the relative success of Princess Evangile, these seem like possible choices. Of course the only reason why Princess Evangile succeeded as much as it did is because most English readers never played a prototypical moege/storyge mix eroge before, so it seemed fresh to them. Once Mangagamer floods the market with such titles, sales will be much lower.
>>
>>15308696
It's a flexible funding project made to get some extra income in addition to what they get through their Japanese+Steam releases, so not at all.
>>
>>15308833
Ah shit, I missed that. So yeah, then it's just some extra money to get from suckers faster.

1. ChuableSoft's SukiSuki.
2. August's Eustia.
3. Leaf's White Album 2.
>>
>>15309095
>2. August's Eustia.

I wonder how would people react to it. Because before I read it in Japanese, I saw some of the Western reviews and they crazily overhype it.

Don't get me wrong, I liked a lot about it, but at the same time it's flawed to the very core. For example the route structure ultimately leads to unsatisfying endings for pretty much every heroine, maybe except for Licia and debatably Eustia.

And English readers were likely memed by those English reviews and Reddit posts even more than me, so they backlash could be stronger.
>>
>>15304573
Because the MangaGamer version came with both. It's good for me since it'll help me learn Japanese (in 10 years).

>>15304778
Thank you. The problem was actually the save folder. The files became screwed up somehow. The MangaGamer uninstaller left the folder intact so the error kept happening even if you reinstalled Fata. Who do I blame for this oversight? Doddler?

Decay: An 18+ release of Maitetsu is something there seems to be a lot of demand for, is that something you’d be interested in providing?

Audi: Well there certainly is a loud crowd of people, don’t know about their numbers but I hear their voices even in my sleep. Again, it’s something we have to look into and figure out because the subject matter is not just controversial but can be detrimental to many of our partners. We work very closely with companies like Sony and such, and their cool with us working the Denpa 18+ stuff separate from them, but one false move and suddenly the VN market is gonna hurt from it. It’s one of those situations where we have to pick our battles and figure out the best course of action.

>A lone girl, wearing a tattered school uniform, lives on a dry river bed. She can't go to school, has no house, not even a tent... just a helpless, lonely girl. She searches garbage cans for food to survive every day. And whenever she is found by vagrants or delinquents, she becomes their plaything. Gang-raped, disgraced, forced to drink semen, dirtied, abused, scorned...
This is a visual poem about her everyday life.

Clearly its Disney as all heck.

>>
>>15309105
Was going just for Eustia and never bothered with others, so the ultimate ending was very sweet and well-rounded for me. Some cgs were pretty much doodled, but that's all.
>>
>>15309372
Is this your first experience with MangaGamer's announcements? It's always cheap doujins and nukiges for every minor con in the first half of the year and the big stuff for AX and Otacon.

Personally expecting something from minori and Clock-Up in addition to the three, with the guests and all.
>>
>>15309105
>August

Holy shit. Just realized that to this day there still has not been 1 finished August release.
The Yoake, Fortune Arterial, Eustia, and Daitoshokan translations all died out.

Mangagamer release bokuten will be huge succss, people always love dem feels. So utsuges will be popular again.

It's not but I can't see anything interesting for this year except maybe DC3 and most likely the new announcements for AX (except short nukiges) will be released in 2017.
>>
>>15309435

What qualifies as "interesting" to you?
>>
>>15309416
The Daitoshokan one was bad. Even the parts they supposedly edited.
>>
>>15309438
Games like Kara no Shoujo, EF, Eden, Suika, Himawari... Something with story, romance, mystery, comedy and some action.
Euphoria was a bit to extreme for my and FM (besides the awful like3D art) wasn't my cup of tea.
>>
>>15308587
I give you credit for not using Funbags, made it still sound like a good game nearing finish.

>>15308819
I think moege is just natural to sell. 99% of the manga out there is moege, and if you want to capture that crowd of readers to VNs all you need is moege games. What is weird is that they license so few of the obviously most popular genre.

>>15309344
Are Sekai still dumber than JAST and can't figure out the concept of unofficial patches? Oh wait, it is Sekai, they want to sell the patch and it would be money that upset their partners AND customers, and suddenly they care.

>>
>>15309477

DC3 will be out this year unless something horrible happens to Doddler or Kouryuu dies before finishing the last 5%.

The way things are going we should have all the older stuff and all or nearly all the 2015 stuff done this year (well, at least the first chapters of the multi-part releases), and some of the 2016 announcements too. Er, that's not some kind of official promise or anything, but if you've been keeping up with progress updates and stuff it should be pretty obvious.
>>
>>15309548
Does that mean that MangaGamer's monthly release schedule will finally come to an end, or do you guys still have enough things in the pipeline to keep that going?
>>
>>15309567

Not sure what you mean. We've been releasing more than one game nearly every month for the past half year or so.
>>
>>15309095
>>15309105
Its likely not august. Moogy and makoto during their time on jast have tried to contact august before for a license but got straight out denied since they didn't have any interest in the west.

Chuablesoft is 100% at this point by someone, if not MG since one of the workers is a guest at AX guaranteed but the hints have pointed to MG.

WA2 is also unlikely because Aquaplus, not Leaf have released TTT before without going through MG.
>>
>>15309372
>>15309406
I'm fine with cheap doujins as long as they have the quality of Fata Morgana desu

Can confirm. Arunaru himself said something about the title he's translating using the word love a lot so it makes perfect sense.

>https://vndb.org/v7769 one of haro's projects
Haro some weeks ago said something about being excited to translate a sex scene in a long time so I'm unsure about that. That is, unless she was talking about other VN like a short nukige between large projects.

>https://vndb.org/v16337 I originally thought conjueror would be doing it but now I'm not so sure
Interesting. What makes you think that?
>>
>>15309372
>After the recent MG releases my expectations are pretty low; I can see more nukiges and cheap doujins.
MG announcements on AX and Otakon are on a completely different level than other cons so don't use MG announcements so far in this year as representative of what they'll announce.

But be free to have very low expectations. That way you'll be happier with what MG announces.
>>
>>15309896
>you'll be happier with what MG announces
He will make another rant that MG licenses no-name loliges while Sekai gets some BEST STUFF EVER like Chrono Clock.
>>
>>15309908
>BEST STUFF EVER like Chrono Clock

:-)
>>
>>15309896
To be fair, last year annoncments at AX and Otakon weren't precisely spectacular; all ages games, chuni and yuri.
>>
>>15309877

Haro's got two projects.
http://progress.19.04se.cc/
My money would be on the other one being hamashima related

>Interesting. What makes you think that?

The title itself? Their hints
>a moderate preference for HD graphics (one of our unannounced projects might particularly enticing to this crowd, no joke)

Why it'd be conjueror? It just seems like his type of game, and he's read it. But given how much he's been complaining as of late, I'm starting to doubt it a bit.
>>
>>15309944
>weren't precisely spectacular
>MG and Alicesoft
But yeah, it shoulded be Rance instead of Haruka.
>>
>>15309877
Maybe MG's breaking into the ero-Otomege market.
>>
>>15309931
I'm pretty worried about how SP will handle the translation and the honorific. Rood Double was pretty bad with all this Mr, Mrs, Bro, etc..
>>
>>15309908

I think we've got a pretty good spread for AX and Ota, but someone will always complain if every single announcement isn't a game they personally want (there are other people out there, you know!).
>>
>>15309980
If I bomb Frontwing will it make them hurry the fuck up with Himawari
>>
>>15310045
I can safely say no it won't.
>>
>>15310045

I imagine that would probably have a detrimental effect on release speed.
>>
>>15309967
I believe it's fair to say that because it was Haruka instead of Rance, and because it killed the nearly complete Rance VI project, that announcement didn't exactly go over well last year, especially to the crowd who would be most interested in Alicesoft. The rest of their announcements were Yuri (though Kindred Spirits was a rather good pick up), good titles with somewhat limited appeal (Propeller titles, Himawari), or expected pickups. I thought their AX/Otakon lineup was strong enough, but one can certainty see how people might have been disappointed by their announcements last year, especially for people who saw Haruka as a negative.
>>
>>15310058
>>15310064
That's a shame.
>>
You forgot about Bishoujo Mangekyou, mate.

Basically, don't hold your breath. They kept making excuses even in the answer on why it'd be a bad idea to do it. And the "we have to pick our battles" line just makes it sound like they won't bother.
>>
>>15309428
It tanked in Japan, so that will keep alot of people away from it.
>>
>>15310123
Like the English market or Steam has any awareness of that.
>>
>>15309698
I doubt they got a Spray title since that's Visual Arts territory.
>>
>>15309949
If it ends up being Iwaihime, don't be disappointed.
>>
>>15310065
I think the people complaining the most about last year's announcements are the ones that wanted ero, and thought most of the announcements were a let down in that regard.
>>
>>15310148
The English market outside of Steam, knows that the game basically killed OVERDRIVE, so they don't expect it to be good. It's also alot different than OVERDRIVE's other titles, so it might not even appeal to the usual OVERDRIVE fans.
>>
>>15310196
Okay, but it's still a story title and even with ero those don't sell well.
>>
>>15310152

Given that they haven't shown any interest in putting out BL, I don't think it's too farfetched that they'd let another company do it. Though I wouldn't be surprised if, after it possibly ends up a success, they suddenly start to take in interest themselves.
>>
>>15310210
Part of the appeal of BL titles, or so I've heard, is the ero, so an all-ages only title doesn't seem likely. It would also most likely be a very expensive license, given that it's all ages and a well-known series.
>>
>>15310226
>or so I've heard, is the ero

maybe for people with taste, most of the english audience is straight up underage though

>>15310234
Didn't stop them from playing No, Thank You. Though it does raise the question of how many of the underage fans just pirated it, because they don't have credit cards to purchase it with, or the money to do so anyway. It is possible they bought it with paypal, because even kids have those nowadays, but I kind of doubt that.
>>
On average, how many copies does a VN have to sell to break even? I mean in Japan, not western localizations.
>>
>>15310288
Depends on the budget. Think thousands, since the industry follows the same trends as the anime industry in that everything is ridiculously expensive. Low volume high price.

Hundreds for doujin work at a far cheaper pricepoint like Seacats/Higurashi, just to pay for expenses rendered by one or two people over that period..

tea time is the worst part of pm5. its a great way to get rid of stress, but drinking tea over and over each weekend really ruins the experiance.
I know that due to technical difficulties and general disorder the project is stuck. I tried using google translate on the scripts myself, but it's more than just translation- it's about char space, it's about connection between stats and certain choices (like zodiac sign) and actions that are ingrained in the game code and not just script.
I think that I understand why pm5 got dropped, and im happy that pm6 (aka the evangelion princess maker) is translated but i want pm4 or 3 to see english iteration...

It's not 'editing' or 're-translation'. It's a brand new script, written by people entirely unrelated to the original Ever17. There is no choice but to translate it from scratch if you want it in English.

/vg/ is practically /b/. There's a million of stable threads so your thread will be lost and will fall off. Threads on /vg/ fall off really really quickly, I think an hour without bump means death. The only thing you can get on /vg/ is a circlejerk.

>>

than the problem is the broadness of the topic. there are hundreds of vns, if you want to discuss specifics ones you should have a thread just for that. on /jp/ is a safe bet, but depending on the game you might be able to shoehorn it into other boards, like /u/, /mu/ or even /his/.
>>
>>15320972
>New mods delete them on sight.
Figures. Last time I was on /a/ I got hit with a ban for posting that lucky star x deer gif. It's lewd, yes, but there isn't any nudity in it. And to me that gif and the pasta response is a part, or at least was, a part of /a/ history and culture. So it's not too surprising for things to have gotten worse, at leas in my point of view.
>>
>>15321047
if you post nsfw image in a sfw board you get banned, weather or not there are actual nipples involved. nudity isn't all there is to the adult world.

>>
>>15320958
>What i like about it are the people behind it
I didn't say that and I didn't even mean that. The combination of the writer, illustrator and the platform makes the game unique regardless of what I like about it. It's not even that obscure of a series (an anime adaptation, drama CDs and LN exist) yet it will never get translated. Moreover, even way more well-known MO series is not translated at all, while Tokimemo barely is. Princess Maker doesn't look that bad in comparison to them.
Anyway, what I'm saying is that there's no point in complaining, because there's always someone somewhere who's in a worse situation.
>>
>>15321107
>people in worse situations
sure there are. so instead of saying 'you think pm not getting translated is bad? mo should totally get english!' you could have said 'yeah man, i feel ya' or something, and post your own lementations in a different post
but its fun being misrable because self pity does wonders for the morals. your ilustrator and illustrator got animes and games in english aplenty. pm got pm2 and the anime 'petite princess yucie'. thats really not alot.

Not much difference between the Lucky Star gif and this SYD cap. But the point I was making was that the moderation would lean in differing ways on many grey issues. Obvious NSFW on a blue board is an obvious banhammer. But to use your own words, "nudity isn't all there is to the adult world." becomes a grey area and the resulting disciplinary response, if any, ends up coming down to whatever janny or mod is looking at it. I've even screen capped moderator posts on /a/ concerning the matter of VNs. The biggest problem I had overall was more that it seemed, from my perspective, that moderation was starting to lean more towards a "ban first, ask questions never" mentality.

Although I do miss the days of morning loli manga/doujin dumps.
>>
>>15321122
I would summarize that as "Be glad that you got that much because others deserving better didn't" though. Maybe it's not much of a compassion, but it isn't a self pity for sure.

If they had, have, or are confirmed for having one, it's supposed to be ok. Those that don't fall specifically into that criteria would presumably go here. But there's just as much argument for them to have a limited presence in /v/, since it's still technically a game, some with more traditional gaming elements than others. And there's just as much an argument for them having a limited presence on /a/ since it's not exactly a terrible leap of logic. Anime, manga, light novels, and visual novels, all are Japanese narratives that make use of Japanese art styles. The largest difference being the medium and I guess you could say a limited "choose your own adventure" type or progression.

So again it ends up falling to the moderator or janitor in questions views on the matter.

There's no "universal PS2 script extractor" but there's a good chance that unpacked/decrypted/compiled script can be found in the memory dump of the emulator. Save state in PCSX2, find the savestate file and extract it with 7-Zip. The biggest (32MB) extracted part will contain the text line currently shown in a VN's message box at the very least and the whole script of the scene if you're lucky.
>>
>>15321350
I see, thanks for the info.

eeMemory.bin

I recommend 010 Editor for checking the memory dump; it supports Shift-JIS Japanese text encoding out of the box, the feature many other hex editors lack.
ArtMoney can be used as a proxy for hooking the text from a PS2 game, if you can find the memory address where the current text string is stored. Monitor that address in ArtMoney and then hook its window (not the emulator's) with AGTH or what have you.

dovac is actually more on the level than this group. He's never stolen translations before.

People see VN translations as easy money, so many people looking to make big bux quick are trying to get in on it. Of course, kickstarters are a matter of trust, so I doubt this group could succeed unless their goal is extremely low. And Steam doesn't mean guaranteed thousands of sales anymore either.

Have anyone involved given any indication of how well that new store front is doing? Paying for virtual currency will always be stupid and they still have some payment processor issues, but if the Japanese companies are going to regularly self publish their titles, having another 18+ storefront is a good thing to help avoid Steam only releases.
>>
>>15325397
Dunno how well its doing, but pricing is back to non-discounted, so its 45$ for Princess Evangile and Dengeki Stryker, while its 44.95$ on MG (+ ability to pay exact sum instead 50$). I fail to understand why would anyone use nutaku store to buy anything.
>>
>>15325739
The thing they have going for them is large visibility to the sort of idiot willing to shell out money for virtual currency for "free" to play H-games. If that crowd can be used to help keep 18+ releases coming (along side all ages steam releases) as Japanese companies with no Western storefront enter the market, along with helping Denpasoft, then everyone wins. However it's an open question though how receptive that crowd will be to these VNs though, I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of people were disappointed because they brought Princess Evangile based on the H promo image they are using, and then ended up with something that wasn't a nukige.

They still have terrible PR and stole translations, which they thought they were justified in doing. They also plan to use crowdfunding and have shown to be incompetent.

Why would it possibly take $160,000 to localise a VN? Are they just scamming?
>>
>>15327809

It could be possible. If it's a long game, the loc team is being paid well and there are VA licensing costs it could plausibly get that high (well I'd assume a good third or more of that in a well planned campaign would be going to rewards, shipping, KS costs, etc).

But I don't really buy it with these guys.

The Muv Luv team has been quite open with what they need, and they still needed $250k. Granted they also had a ton of expensive physical products, but still. The Libra team has also been quite open about their funding and they had above a 6 figure goal even after they lowered it. If you believe Dovac, the Clannad Kickstarter itself didn't exactly make much either once the costs for all the physical products was factored in (though Steam would have far made up for any shortcomings)

I am assuming the Japan Content's Kickstarter, being by a group looking for quick cash, probably had a goal a good deal higher then their projected costs. Though at the same time, looking at the incompetence of the team involved, they probably underestimated the projected costs that would have been involved in the event they were successfully funded.

I think they mentioned something about voice licensing issues, so maybe E2gaming is planning to kickstart the game without voices to lower their costs.

Well you also have to remember that in addition to the actual costs, the developers took a huge cut of SP's kickstarters.

Seems like SP is going to give out a demosaiced Sacrament of the zodiac. I hope it means more effort put into mosaic free games in the future.

Shame I wasted money on buying it discounted at nutaku prior. Oh well, that just means all my interaction with nutaku has been terrible. Just as expected.

Oh god, someone actually gave them money. /jp/ never ceases to amaze me.

Worse is that they got a few days exclusivity of the new Sakura game, and apparently it is their current best seller.

One can only hope they won't sell ten thousands of copies, because then Nutaku will just go mainstream.

Wonder how much money they lost on that quick cash grab scheme. Guessing they'll be back under another new name with another title though.

That won't matter unless their behavior changes. If they can't bother putting in the effort like Mikandi Japan, then they should just give up.

Feel the cancer
>If you knew this game was going to get censored, why did you bring it over in the first place?
>There is still a demand for the game and its content. Although some players might not be happy about the changes, we expect many will still appreciate the product for what it is and localizing it allows them the chance to enjoy the game's unique story, gameplay, and characters without needing to speak Japanese or deal with the pains of importing.

Fucking ridiculous.
