I'm joining an Illustration program here in Canada. What do you think of the student's work?

Look, nigga. If you're going to an arts school, it's going to be either Sheridan or OCAD. OCAD's alright, and Sheridan's pretty good for animation and illustration. It's what you make of the program that counts. If you put in the hours and the passion, you'll be as good as the best illustrators there. But yeah, their illustration program's pretty good m8.

you realize that student work literally doesn't mean a single fucking thing. I hate when people say 'oh ma god muh student work lookn good ere, muh join it' ... Seriously.
The ONLY thing that matter, literally the only this is - do you have the mental capacity/propensity/comprehension that you want to improve? If you got that you'll get better no point even going to a course. They teach you out-dates fine arts bullshit that won't actually get you any experience in the medium at all.
You literally gotta' sit down and hermit it out, study from life, do studies of faces, bodies and what not.
The only factors you need to consider for an arts course is literally, Is it fucking close? Do I NEED to move away from home (might be distracting)? Can I afford it? and How much does food cost?
The teaching, the student art, the benefits of the institute literally don't fucking matter. So long as you can go to the college or whatever and get back in your apartment and do art all fucking day like a 9-5 slave.
Like every single student is going to vary, all the artwork on that page is from differing skill levels, and does not reflect the teaching standard of the institute.

This sheridan girl here actually probably goes home and does fucking art you know, and actually tries to actively get better.

Learn the difference...

OCAD is shit IMO. Way too much expressionist/abstract trash for me to care.
Sheridan teaching looks a lot more practical, which I desire.

I agree with you in that OCAD is definitely less focused on a draftsman type of art, which I dislike. However, it's not shit, per se. It just takes in more "I shit on a canvas, c'est l'art."-types. If you're the /ic/ kind of artist that wants to grind fundamentals and all that shit, then yeah, Sheridan's your best bet. Just be warned, you can learn just as much on your own, albeit at a slightly slower pace. I applied to animation recently, so I do think the school has merit.
can we stop shilling for this guy and his line of degenerate clothing? thank you.
