Does anyone else here do traditional art because of the possibility that the internet and computers may not function one day?
like say for instance , the whole world goes crazy and gets nuked or emp'd or say they make the internet shut off for civillians. your digital art will not survive that, art on traditional mediums will survive (if it doesnt get evaporated that is).
i think that is the real problem with digital art is that it relies on the computer and the internet for its success. thus making it somewhat impermanent in compairison with traditional.
thoughts?

That problem affects a lot more than art. If the world's infrastructure fails that much, art is going to be the least of your worries. Long-term archiving of digital images is an actual problem, but there are plenty of solutions. This is a stupid reason to avoid digital.

I'm sure immortan joe will keep you alive because you can draw faggit

oh i dont avoid digital for sure, i know its important to use digital in professional stuff , but yeah i just like the fact that traditonal is on physical objects and is safe from website shutdowns or computer failure.

When that happens, selling porn on flash drive would be the new crack cocaine in exchange for gold and silver. If you haven't already this business model is your highway ticket to becoming a millionaire when the 3rd world war ends. You heard it first from me.

Unless I was a masterpainter who has created amazing art, I couldn't give less of a shit if anything I've ever drawn were to be destroyed, because I could simply draw it again, just better. Hell, anything from more than a year ago, I can hardly look at without cringing.
>>
There are reasons to avoid digital but honestly I don't think many artists worry too much about the apocalypse when choosing their medium.

wont the flash drives be hit by the emp and stop working like all the computers?
>>
>>2594492
Not if you bury everything deep underground and or plunge your stash in a cave.
>>
>>2594492
That's extremely oversimplified view on emp family

The fundamentals stay the same, so unless you're a nutsack who relies purely on after editing of your work, a transition to traditional media shouldn't cause you much trouble.

Digital and traditional compete about as much as apples and pears, only a faggot would shun either media.

I believe flash deteriorates over time when not powered. Maybe Intel's upcoming xpoint/optane storage will remedy this.

Physical media deteriorates anyway. Or gets intentionally destroyed by stupid angry humans.

Any artist worried about their legacy is probably shit anyway.

You're right, we should all abandon art and instead spend our days preparing for the post apocalyptic life style by training with firearms and taking classes in martial arts and bushcraft. After all it could happen
>>
>>2594469
Hey, any self-respecting wasteland wardlord will want a professionally designed logo / flag for their war rigs.

prove it.
>>
>>2594554
what's there to prove you moron?
>>
>>2594391
why not just print your shit OP
>>
>>2594574

Also if you print it with a sufficiently low resolution you can always recreate your works with colored pebbles as a form of primitive pixel art
>>
>caring about whether your medium will last when you're finished

haha

it won't
>>
>>2594554
You're right. Don't tell anyone, but in digital art, a box in perspective actually has <i>seven</i> planes.
>>
I've thought about this as well. Let's look into making our own materials. If I can find something like water soluble, that'd be good.
>>
It's a lot more likely that your apartment will burn down and then your traditional art is a bit more fucked

Stopped reading there

>being this retarded to think this will realistically happen in your lifetime
>also assuming that it's digital artists who can't adapt to traditional mediums when 99% of the time it is the other way around
>>
>>2594528
True but most logos are stolen so you don't really need artist
If I was a warlord I'd get a sculptor to make statues of me and just force my bois to learn graffiti

You'll be sorry when WW3 actually happens and they EMP your shit bruh.
