I agree that we should erradicate those that are all "my beetus" (the kinds you see in Fat people stories) but not every single fat person is like that.
One of my best friends has an illness that makes her retain weight. she works with her doctor to try to change it but she can't exercise because of her health and her diet isn't anything abnormal, but she's still obese. Treating her like she just eats mcdonalds all day, everyday doesn't help her y'know? And shooting her when she genuinely can't help it would be like shooting a fat person in a wheelchair when they're paralyzed.
In other words: Too many people put assumptions of WHY someone is fat to someone before even knowing them or witnessing how they act around food or exercise which is where that distinction comes in y'know?
Idk. I don't know what the project is anon but i think the comments about it kinda show why they felt it was an idea that was necessary.
Health and nutrition are the only things more important to me than art and I would rather educate those who don't know proper nutrition and exercise, shoot the beetus whales who refuse to change even when given help or opportunities to, and educate non-fatties on conditions their friends may have that are preventing them from losing weight and how to help in such cases if you even can.
and before I finish this up, let me just make sure this point is clear: Not very fat person has a "good reason" to be fat, but not every fat person is fat because they're lazy.

tumblr is a goldmine for cringe. the tumblr art style is probably the worst thing i can think of. artists with potential get stuck drawing gross alcoholic rednoses and sunburnt shoulders and excessive forced tokenizations and they just make characters intentionally ugly all the time. this redraw would almost be kind of charming but it's just so off-putting. i don't know if my qualm with the "tumblr" art style is mostly a personal pet peeve. others seem to either like it or hate it. i like to laugh at it.

no, the popularity comes from the fact that people like the art style. i've made posts about how much i dislike the art style and i got bombarded with asks and messages and reblogs whining about how it's rude to hate on people's art. i can confirm that the mentality is basically that:

i used to draw in the tumblr art style. i've seen hate about it like maybe in 2 posts in my 5 years using that shitty website. i grew out of it quickly (thank god) but people get stuck in the habit and the cliches become part of their art style. there's some that pull it off rather well, but most artists end up having the exact same art style because it's easy to draw and cute.
the people that exclusively draw in the style to piss people off are few and far. but the best part about them? i get to laugh at how they're trying to piss people off for attention instead of improving their generic shit(and they usually can't draw above the standard level of the average tumblr art-styler anyways)

In my opinion,one of the worst aspects of the style is the generality of it all. Characters are only depicted with very basic expressions, and they are all constructed the same, just with different proportions.
Another big problem with the tumblr style is incongruence, which is a direct result of the aforementioned generality. The characters only emote in a very basic fashion that results in a very jarring effect that makes the characters feel like actors that were never in the same room together, but were then greenscreened in to the same scene. It feels disjointed and fake.
The above problems aren't helped by the rabid political correctness of tumblr's art community. Characters can't be too fat or too skinny, too tall or too short, too pretty or ugly, ect. This leads to all of the characters looking indistinct and bland.
In closing, I really wouldn't call the tumblr style a 'style' per say, but more a set of bad practices that lead to bland, faceless, disposable junk.
