I've recently found that I have a bit of an obsession with giants, humanoids to be more specific. There's just something about the wild but gentle protectors of the wood that always fascinated me. I also love the idea of finding an old journal in a forest filled with anatomical sketches of beasts and descriptions of their behavior (I can't remember where I got this idea from and I would very much appreciate it if someone could recommend some journals like this).
Why in /IC/? I plan on making them heavily detailed with sketches and /IC/ is home.
I had a similar idea of wanting to make my own illuminated bestiary from scratch some day, binding and all.

Honestly the best option would be to make your own. But if you're lazy or feel you want a stylized one, just Google "old leather journals". That's how I got the OP picture.
I plan on one day showing it to my children, I would have loved that myself. Just imagine clippings of exotic fur, drawings of massive birds and stories of adventures. This could be my life obsession, aside zoology.

Any fantasy Table Top Pen & Paper RPG bestiary, there's volumes of them for Pathfinder and D&D of course.

The first thing that came to mind was Brian Froud's Faerie books. They're like press flower books but of faeries and usually have descriptions or journal entries accompanying the faerie. And Dugard A. Steer edits a series of "Ologies" which are basically field guides to dragons, monsters, and other stuff. I feel like I've seen a field guide for unicorns but I can't find it.

This is only tangentially related, but I have the first commercial issue of Snorre's King's Sagas in Norwegian from 1899. It was a huge event when it was released, and was decorated and illustrated by some of Norway's most celebrated artists from the era.
