No. Lucian Freud and those who admire him are the swines of swines. Being that order and temperate beauty are not in their souls, like barbarians not knowing what is proper and what is not, the ugliness of Freud's style reflects with the same ugliness in their soul. For the apprehension of an aesthetic is nothing less than the resonating of that which inwardly exists dominantly. So a brute with a confused mess in his soul, lacking grace, will honor the same.

It ranges, but what you posted isn't nearly as glorified as the garbage posted beforehand, it keeps to the theme of realism without creating bug eyed alien people. I really like Vagabond as well, it's a great mango, but Takehiko Inoue is quite old, and follows a lesser stylized, more comic look to his works, and excels at what he does, and has proved his legitimacy as an artist. BUT when you have shit like >>2583007
>>2582988
actually being admired; it's saddening, especially for the particular anon posting it. I guess I can't expect the un-trained 16 year old eyes of /ic/ but I'd imagine you'd grow some sense hanging around on even a fairly shitty art board all the time. It's a shame that these people haven't matured out of middle school, but what can I really ask of randoms around the world, especially when they get so much exposure to it.

>>2583717
>>2583687
See, it's just summer all over the board.

All i do is post freud and this happens.
To the guy saying hes shit. Holy fuck. How dumb can you be, hes a HUGE fucking influence on art and will be put in the history books. He is an amazing painter and has had a great impact on art.
Trying to say you can see hes eyes are out of place is just dumb, hes a master, you are not. Also this isint techinal drawing, this is art you asshole. I think that he thought about every stroke on that painting, maybe he did it for a reason. To give a better comp or flow and not sicking 100% to realism like a straight jacket.
FUCKING NEWS FLASH
FREUD WAS NOT A PHOTOREALIST.

Also saying you never knew about freud makes you sound even more fucking dumb.
Every fucking kid knows freud.

>I do not like nor care about this kind of art, mainly because most of it tends to look like "muh style 2deep4u" trash, and though I might be biased I don't see how this fits on my interests.
>OMG you are the biggest pleb for not knowing shit about anything, you must understand and worship all artistic legacy to develop unique, meaningful and trascendental art, all good artists know and do this, if not, they probably are pleb, worthless, and shallow comercial/concept artist.

Both staments are an excellent display of idiocy and narrow mindedness.

To the guy bashing on Freud's work, it is clearly stylistic choice, I'm not familiar with it but you can clearly see that his intentions weren't to capture likeness nor have a high realistic or exact approach, It's not my cup of tea either but you can't critique it without steping into the "you don't get it" territory.

To the others deffending Freud's work, but mostly modern art/expressionism, you guys are fucking buffoons, seriously, it doesn't matter if you are working on the professional insdustry or whatever, relying on "you don't understand", "You care about anatomy, go be a surgeon", "You don't know him, you are shit at art", "His work held some aution record therefore you should think highly of him", " Not knowing 15 minutes of wikipedia art history makes you dumb", "You and your replies are a joke, I will not say why though, you'll just have to trust me" ,only proves how butt frustrated are at the fact that not everyone agrees with you and evidentiates your poor argumentation skills.
I mean, how retarded you have to be to think that not knowing someone nor liking his work/ a whole art movement is a "make or break" when it comes to actually make art?.
Get a clue about what you want to say before typing shit out just to disagree, because you are the filth ruining /ic/, not the guy that called out the symetrical "flaws" on Freud's work without knowing him.

So it's mostly relevant for new school cartons like samurai jack or mulan where characters are basically triangles and squares with arms and legs? Seems like an unnecessary term, but if it makes you sound smart go for it I guess.
>>
>>2593098
you're still not quite getting it but you're close. it's not limited to just cartoons, it goes with basically any style up to realism/hyper realism if you're inventing things from you're imagination. your shape language comes out when you interpret reality too. think of it including appealing distribution of shapes and placements, tangents, silhouettes, consideration of function etc. it's tied a lot to composition too and it's definitely worth researching.

It's a working process that is mostly used by "design" artists of today. It's a non-sense practice that really originates with modern artists that many of them dislike. These new types of artists think because they find something useful to their own particular craft, and analyze past artists' paintings using such method (and they undoubtedly would see, if they are searching), that great artists, past and present, employ such a thinking process in composition, or that it would be an equally worthy study for other artists. These are the same type of artists who would look at cinematographic stills to study composition and suggest all other types of artists should do likewise, whereas artists beforehand didn't need to do so to create far better compositions.

Are you saying studying composition is ineffective?

I'm saying a lot of things, and I have a lot more to say, but you know that's not what I'm saying. You're essentially questioning me if I'm saying a general is unworthy when I say that a species of it is.

Because knowing what shape design is is actually practical as a working illustrator/fine artist. A fucking degree in art and art history is not.

Keep spouting "design language."
>>
>>2593821
or shape language, or whatever new terms youtube animators and illustrators come up with.

One of my favs, Aleksandra Waliszewska. I love the scenes she paints and her use of mood and color. If anyone knows of a similar artist I would enjoy suggestions.
