The trick of showing a detailed background in the first panel is well known: notice how in the other panels they're floating in some white space, no more chairs and tables, no floor, stairs and columns all dissapeared. This is an elegant solution but don't abuse it.
For the main panel, my bet would be on Google SketchUp for the stairs and chairs, would also save time.
Even then, it's probably taking quite some time, I think most comic book artist are supremely patient to draw the same dudes again and again for hundred of pages.

Here. Manga in Japan is a very popular form of entertainment that sustains an industry. Most mangaka have entire teams, each person specializing in one area: backgrounds, layout, lettering, background characters, 3d, inorganic objects, etc. The actual mangaka artist, the author will storyboard it out, then draw the main characters, or whatever they feel like taking on that day but rarely do they draw the entire thing unless you're Murata. On the show manben, the first episode is a mangaka drawing and directing her team to produce an entire chapter in a single day.

Wrong. The vast majority of assistants do it for payment. Very few do it as an unpaid "internship" and those who do are the least skilled and qualified. They also get literally zero exposure from it. Especially when working for some unknown run of the mill mangaka with a semi successful serialization that could be cancelled at any moment, which is like 90% of the industry.
A team of competent assistants is expensive as fuck and your average mangaka simply has no way of paying for that. That's just a fact. I'm honestly sick and tired of having these contrived arguments on /ic/, with some retard who just can't fucking admit that he doesn't know what he's talking about and has to keep going and going just to keep the argument alive.
