Is mainstream cartooning quality dead? I mean, Disney is pretty much done with it.

Define mainstream cartooning
Yes, I love anime.

Okay example, look at western cartoons from 70's, 80's and 90's then look at something like Adventure Time or any current Cartoon Network show.

Not the same anon, but what the fuck are you talking about? Explain yourself.
>>
>>2547441
Most cartoons from the 70's were low budget shit

I think OP is talking about stuff like this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wO2Cd9tyUvY

versus stuff like this

Of course, this is cherry picking.

The fact is a lot of comedy themed shows had ass animation even back then. Dexter's Laboratory is one of my all time favorites for example, but it's very minimalistic with animation that's basically par for whatever you'd consider today's bog standard to be.

If we're going to talk about old intros, look at this shit.

So characters that move in 3D space like in Disney movies/Anime compared to things like Simpsons where characters are set up on a rig and involves very little actual drawing?
>>
>>2547485
And yet they look better then anything today.

You have to be shitting on me, anon.

Name one cartoon from the 70's that proves this.

The 80's is where things started to get interesting, anyways.

Rather than bitching about how things don't look like you want why don't you animate a short in a style you like then pitch it to a studio and get it picked up?

These threads are literally like yelling at the sky to not be blue and expecting it to change color. Not only do none of the people bitching ever actually do anything to change trends you're telling studios to stop doing what makes them money, cuz you (a nobody) doesn't like it.

Who gives a shit what you don't like? You're not putting out a superior product that would warrant anyone's attention.
