How do I not end up like this?
>>2527922
if u think he painted for 6 years everyday ur a meme
>>2527923
even the cat disapprove of that cat art
dont bullshit yourself and it'll be fine
>>2527922
Practice doesn't make perfect
It's perfect practice that makes perfect
Good practice makes good, bad practice makes bad, shit practice makes shit. Even if you spend years doing practice if it's shit you'll stay shit, therefore just practice well, eg. follow the sticky and the /ic/ God's Loomis, Villppu etc. and you'll get far.
hey at lest your not this http://elsaandfriends101.deviantart.com/

>>2528039
Nothings perfect and no one is a "god", not even close.
If OP wants to not end up like his image he needs to just get to work and study, even if it's doing it the wrong way for awhile. You're going to make mistakes and you're going to do things the wrong way but you need to be doing that to understand why their are better ways of doing something.
>>2527922
To many morons on ic (>>2528039) sit around looking for the perfect tutes, or best teacher/books and never get anywhere because they don't put in the hours actually drawing. You're going to fail and do shit he wrong way but that experience will help teach you what works about the better ways of doing it. I've never heard of any artists, or anyone for that matter, who became successful by planning out everything they were going to do beforehand so they never made any mistakes. You're not going to understand why one way is better than another without actually grind out work and seeing for yourself. Who cares if you spend a few months learning construction from a anatomy book that might not be deemed "the best" by IC, in the grand scheme it's going to take years and years before you get "gud".
Just keep doing your studies from life every day, and doing work from your imagination. The people who never make it are the ones who are constantly obsessed with the best technique/teachers rather than just grinding out studies and paintings (with an eye on what level you want your artwork be someday) to improve naturally over time.
>>2528112
>completely missed the point.
>>2528116
nice comeback
>>2528120
Sure was, since you've completely misunderstood the post.
>>2528116
>you'll never make it, got too worked up about who's better vilppu or loomis....forgot to draw today.
>>2528130
>posts says to practice, follow the sticky, follow Loomis and Vilppu
>you read it as saying you should waste time deciding who's better and not drawing
>being completely retarded
>>2528150
You're not even making any sense now.
Follow the sticky and work through all the books
Save up a couple hundred bucks and do a couple months of Jeff Watts online course
Make a daily effort to learn and practice. Understand the difference between studying and doodling. Don't be lazy/stupid.
>>2527922
Holy shit, the cat on the right in 2010 looks like it's having a revelation. 2016 is pure degradation.
Just read the sticky, draw often, and push your comfort zone, and you'll be fine.

A few years back I went backwards, quite badly. Basically I saw all those youtube tutorials of "epic" artists (in retrospect they weren't very good). I thought I was good too so I spent my time trying to copy them. I'd spend more and more time on my paintings thinking that they just looked bad due to bad or lack of rendering.
Turns out I was just completely missing the fundamentals. I didn't have any feedback so I didn't understand why they were bad, until I posted on conceptart.
>>2527922
Nice.
>>2527922
something tells me the image orders were reversed by some epik faggot. probably OP
>>2528784
>something tells me the image orders were reversed by some epik faggot. probably OP
Hard to tell these days.
As far as this Before-After 'progress' meme goes around deviantART, it is quite common for '''''''''''''''''''''''''improved''''''''''''''''''''''' version to abandon all accidentual freshness for the sake of whatever cargo cult style such deviantartist latches on - thus making "after" appear starkly inferior to "before".
Pic related - case in point.
And then you have people like Andrew Dobson whose regression into individual 'style' prompted them to see their previous works as inferior despite the contrary just to fool themselves into thinking that their token path is good.
>>2527922
1. dont fucking use deviantart
2. stay away from brony shit
3. dont be 7 years old
4. fucking practise weekly
5. dont be a complete retard
if you can manage that and submit to beginners thread for feedback you got a chance.
>>2530425
>fucking practise weekly
do people really only practice weekly? i figured unless you were doing it daily you won't go anywhere
>>2530443
I practice monthly or bi-monthly on average and it's been worse in the past. I've been drawing "on and off" for 12+ years, but you can imagine it's been more like "barely on and very very off". After all this time of no practice I'm at a level of a decent beginner by /ic/ standards. My progress images, if I were to make any, would be likely later posted in these threads as a laughing material because of the span of many years and not much of any real improvement.
The bottom line - it's pretty normal to not get better if you don't actively try to get better. It's like playing basketball once every few weekends with old friends - it won't make you a pro, ever.
>>2532986
if you are trying to go pro, fucking kill yourself you loser. you need to practice every single day at the LEAST 8 hours. if you can't find the time for that, then just stop.
>>2532993
>you need to practice every single day at the LEAST 8 hours. if you can't find the time for that, then just stop.
le 8 hour meme
>>2532993
I sure hope you mean he specifically has to practice at least 8 hours every day, and not that this is the norm.
>>2532993
I drew like 4 hours whenever I feel like it and I can say my art is alright. Not pro level but slowly getting there.
>>2532986
>inb4 fuck off sycra
>>2533004
>why do you think otherwise?
because it's not
>>2533004
Literally the reason I hate /ic/
Kill yourself.
>>2532993
Of course I'm not trying to go pro, I'm not retarded enough to think that with such level of non-commitment I could actually ever get good. I just wanted to tell you how does it look like from a perspective of someone who just doodles rarely when he feels like it.
>>2533023
well that's understandable, hobbyists should never go over a couple of hours every few days. my time range was directed at pros, something the 5% of good people here do.
>>2533027
>hobbyists should never go over a couple of hours every few days
lolwut? why?
>my time range was directed at pros, something the 5% of good people here do
you're being very generous by saying 5%
>>2533025
Give me few hours, I'll come back with some fresh art, probably mouse porn or something.
>>2533033
I know, I wanted to say 2% but someone somewhere would rage. I don't know how much time hobbyists spend on this shit, I've only seen literal retards draw at my college who weren't trying to go pro. Those kids had a lot of shit wrong with them but they would only draw, 24/7, the same images.
>>2533035
mouse porn is cool, I'll be watching for your stuff
>>2527923
Why did she put her napkin on her head?
>>2527922
What's it with autists and black sclera?
Autism art fascinates me truly.
>>2527923
>why is that guy painting us
>>2533090
you don't?
>>2533025
>>2533035
>>2533040
Done, I think it looks pretty decent, not professional, but pleasant. The point is not about how many hours you practice, it's about how you practice. The more enjoyable the practice is, the faster you learn.
>>2533204
still better than 95% of ic
>>2533204
Shit, just realised anatomy is kinda fucked, fixed it a bit, not perfect, but less bizarre.
>>2533222
this is boring as shit mate
>>2533365
Whatever m8 it was my first time drawing this pose so I wasn't expecting to do something amazing.
>>2533204
This is about where I am skillwise too.
You are going to make it.
Gotta add a background/context tho.
>>2533873
I like it
>>2533222
>tubular breast deformity
>>2533873
Below mediocre work for someone who puts in below average effort. Big surprise.
>>2535625
Post your shit sonny
