Send in portfolios everywhere you can or make gaudy monstrosities in parks to display.

guess i should've worded it better: what's the best way to get web exposure for your art?

been trying hash tags, putting it into groups, and posting my art up everywhere... not sure what else i can do.
>>
>>2526692
Your work probably isn't good enough. Good art naturally attracts attention on its own as people share it and like it and so on. Social media can make things go "viral", but it needs to be good for that to happen.
>>
>>2526695
It's not so much about how good the art, but how much it panders towards a certain audience. Even fucking Ruan Jia wasn't well known untill just recently and he's still not as popular as some of the less skilled artists.
>>
>>2526695
Bullshit. The most viewed at is fan art when it comes to unknown artists. Hoping to go viral is the dumbest shit I've ever heard. Draw shit people like and they will share it even if it's bad.

Fan art of things that have an active fan base. You will get a ton of followers from fans of random shows and then you can turn them into just fans.

Post everywhere so you get the most people to find you. People going to art station aren't the same people as people on DA so get on both if you can.

Get a twitter and tumblr and USE THEM.

You can also start posting on sites like this:
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php/41-Sketchbooks

I've seen the most shit artist in the world get over 4K on patreon because they draw what people like. Fuck look at shiin! He gets over 3K on patreon because he draw what people like to see (fan art with big ass and tits)

How much shit art of my little pony had shit ton of views? A shit ton of shit art. And the artist making that shit art still have the followings after they stopped drawing ponies.
>>

Decent advice but you really like word shit dont you anon
>>
>>2526703
Ruanjia has been famous for almost a decade. He's also extremely popular in China, so it is hard to compare his fame to someone known just in the west.

>>2526705
Ah yes, OP should just do MLP fanart porn instead of having a proper career doing art they like. Clearly that is the advice they were looking for.
>>
>>2526711
OP isn't asking for a fucking job. OP wants people looking at him.

Also you can do safe for work stuff and get a following just fine. Not saying OP needs to draw fucking ponies. Just showing that pony fuckers got the views when it was getting spammed everywhere and it still is. Draw ponies and the pony fans will look at it. Draw Teen Titans and the fan base will show it to each other. Draw steven universe and the tumblr fanbase will try and get you to kill yourself and you'll get a shit ton of views from the drama.

Every big artist online got big from fan art, worked on something like a cartoon will a shit ton of fans, or was a r34 hentai artist of some kind..

i dunno about that. when i was between 15 to 17, i was pretty popular online for my art. (back when DA used to be big) like i could walk into a random paint chat room with just my name, and people would recognize me and treat me like i was some celebrity lol. it was shitty anime oc stuff too. i think i got there mostly because i knew the "right" people and would give me exposure. i left that life because i didn't think i deserved it at the time and became a hermit to hone my skills. i must've disappeared from posting anything for at least 2 years.

i'm more confident with my skills again, but this is after almost 7 years later. my once "popular" friends outgrew their hobbies and don't draw or post as much any more. i've noticed it became way harder to get noticed than it was back then. some people still remember me and remark how much my work has changed into a more professional direction though. but i feel like a creep to talk to the "in" artists because they're usually much younger than i am. and the popular ones who do follow me don't feature other artists.

i haven't pandered to any fandoms yet but that's literally my last resort...
>>
>>2526528
Depends on what you want your audiance to be, but the easiest to do is draw porn, because sex sells, plus point for fetishes.

>>2526716
oh shit, lots of great advice and tips while i wrote my last post lol... thanks!

and how ironic, right after i said pandering to fandoms would be my last resort... is seemingly the answer to my problems. i'm glad i liked zootopia, i guess that's what's in these days. i'll maybe get to drawing clawhauser like i wanted to...
>>
>>2526717
Be a whore OP. Draw fan art and draw OC along with it. You will get people looking for the fan stuff and they will hang around if they like your OC. If you just draw OC then how you getting people who would like it to look at it? If it's hentai you can upload it e-hentai or r34 boards to get views but if you are talking about SFW stuff then you need to be pulling viewers to youself.
>>
>>2526528
Depends.

Do you want to be respectable artist?
Do great work for clients/projects that matters.

Do you just want money and attention?
Pander to profitable audience that is not saturated with many pros and semiproffesionals.

>>2526705
Umm...there is life outside of internet. No one givesa shit about internet artist in real life.
>>
>>2526711
>Ruanjia has been famous for almost a decade
Maybe in China, but not internationally. Some patreon whores or polski photobashing faggots have much more exposure and attention than Ruan.
>>
>>2526758
That's mostly because Ruanjia just like most other chinese artists don't use western social media very much and mostly stick to artstation and their shitty chinese blogs no westerner can access without registration.

Also you are vastly exaggerating how much attention polish photobashers are getting. The most attention they get is from angry purists on /ic/. They have literally zero name recognition with non artists. Granted, neither does Ruanjia, but at least he's a household name amongst art directors and the art community in general.

Are you a girl?
Are you pretty?
Do you like video games?
Do you like anime?
>>
>I got into art to be famous and make money
>why is it so hard?
Really
>>
>>2526992
not OP but
yes
no
yes
yes

what are my options?
>>
>>2527079
Don't show your face but make it obvious you're a girl. Do a lot of pandering fanart, the more disgusted you feel about yourself afterwards, the more likely you are to get noticed. Being a girl will help, because you can sell your gender in exchange for all the guys that will fawn over your work and share it around in the vain hope to be noticed by you. But don't ever let them find out you're ugly, because the moment you do that, they'll lose any attraction they had for you.
>>
>>2527079
You're a girl so people will fall in love with your voice if you do videos
>>
>>2527079
get fit, all ugly ppl bastion
>>
>>2527636
I was thinking about streaming my art process with voice on. Hope this will work.

>Ruanjia has been famous for almost a decade.

>Ruanjia.....famous
Normies have no clue who the fuck Ruanjia is and I'm sure there are plenty of artists who don't as well. He's "famous", if you'd even call it that, to a niche group of wannabe artist plebs and inside some artist circles.

Get out of your basements.

>>2526528
If you want exposure you have to do like everyone else. Post your art pretty regularly and repeat for maybe up to years until you slowly grow a fanbase. It's not going to happen over night, even if you get a viral piece here and there. The work has to be decent quality and something normies and the like enjoy looking at.
>>
>>2528127
>Normies have no clue who the fuck Ruanjia is

Normies have no clue who any artist is outside of a handful of comic book artists who became famous through movie adaptions. If you asked a thousand random people on the street who Sakimichan is, I'd be surprised if even 1% knew her.
>>
>>2526758
>>2526983
>polish photobashers

You mean the ones that churn out concept art?
>>
>>2527081
hahahahahaha
>>
>>2526711
When you say he's "famous", what you actually mean is that other digital artists know his name. Nobody else does. We are in a pretty insular bubble, normies generally don't give a shit who makes what; they look at it for 2 seconds and go "that's cool" then carry on with their day. We are the only ones this autistic about art, especially digital art.
>>
>>2528165
>>2529733
No shit. No living artists are household names anymore. We are talking about being famous within the industry. No one on the street knows who Jaime Jones is, but within the industry he is extraordinarily famous.
>>
>>2529733
>especially digital art.

Actually that's way more true for traditional art. At least some normies who are into comics will know their favorite comic book artists. Those who are really into animation will know some animators , those who are into MTG, Hearthstone etc might know their favorite card illustrators. No normie knows any living traditional artist.
>>
>>2529750
>No normie knows any living traditional artist.
Normies can barely even name dead traditional artists. They have heard of a few giants like Rubens, Rembrandt, and Michelangelo, but they mostly wouldn't even be able to tell the different between their art.
>>
>>2526528
I'd imagine posting on any form of social media. Facebook, twitter, definitely instagram. Is you can also record yourself doing art. Youtube.

In short, the internet.
>>
>>2526528
i like showing my craft live coz the feedback is more genuine and respectful. social media is unsocial trash full of unsocial assholes, why you´d wanna give them anything at all, ever? They dont exatcly deserve it.
