Character turnarounds are great practice, strive for accuracy though, the head gets bigger, the shoulders taller, the legs wider etc. Everything's got to match up! Nice try though.

That's a lot of detail.
The scales are flattening at times, always consider them as a flat-though three dimensional-shape and place your lines accordingly, imagining how they'd wrap around the solidity of the forms. Generally I think you accomplished this, I think in some spots you just didn't give a fug.

There's no painter who has drawn magnificent pieces with saying "I'll never be able to". Now get that paint bucket and roll again. Fingers ain't learning other ways.
Now to the picture itself. In my opinion it looks ok. neck and arms just swaying there are the things falling into the eye. If you now add the rest of the boots makes it seem she elegantly bowing towards you (which you planned to do I guess. Looking at the background sketch.) it will look better. Adding a cape which she holds with her right hand and slides on her left make her arms have function.
As a whole you can use your current picture to further work on.

Good work, one thing I didn't catch earlier is that it looks like her arms are a bit short. Always remember that the wrists are generally parallel with the base of the pelvis, the gooch. If her arms were brought to her sides it looks like her hands would end there. I think her forearms are fine, I think the "humerus" portion of the arm is just slightly shorter than it ought to be.

I think he means just plain copying vs putting thought/effort into it. All the "not getting it" have the exact same facial expressions and uninteresting poses and seem afraid to add their own unique details. Not that the "starting to get it" are perfect in that regard, but a little better.

the face is ok, but the rest is a poor design. i get that the chibi looks like that but you can do so much more with that character briefing. you covered up the entire body instead of adding information to your character. didn't even try to draw the hands. 1/10, stop rendering and read character design books/blogs.

Well, it reads like you think ever sketch needs to be some kind of anatomy study or show off a character's entire body, like there's something innately wrong with concealing/baggy clothing and copying the clothing style of the original sprite. It might not help improve as much as drawing them fully uncovered, but there's also not anything wrong with drawing them with the covering cloak.

In this instance there'd be no need, it's just a sketch after all and I don't think the inconsistencies here and there really detract from it in a substantial way. If Craig Mullins can leave those repulsive splotches of hard round brush in his finished paintings I think you can take some liberties with your sketches (at least in the areas that aren't the focal point). Good job, keep practicing!

i could link you blogs all day but you'd be better off finding them out for yourself. it's the same idea as how you'd put together an environment piece. you need to use elements of what relates to your character in order for your viewer to understand what they're looking at.

what makes your drawing a nomad princess? her crown and a cloak covering up her body? she's suppose to be royalty but how is your image conveying that she's not an assassin or monk? what part of her cloak and hood read as nomad princess? all you are doing is copying the chibi art and rendering her proportions out towards reality. that's what the noobs aren't understanding here, they're just copying what they see instead of building on what they already know.

Why does it matter if she looks generic? How does it make it not good? I didn't want to follow the chibi's design. And if you Google Amazonian the clothes all look pretty generic imo leather or fur top/bottoms. Does it really make a difference at all if I wanted to keep the design simple? Yeah I could have added a crown or more accessories but fuck it is don't think Amazonian women should be held down by the accessories they wear while they hunt or fight. Perhaps it's just perspective

Not Anon, but, if we're being honest, absolute efficiency would be naked wearing sandals. Maybe a chest wrap to keep the tits from flopping around, but a skirt is just a waste. She'd also likely tie her hair back to keep it out of her face. Plus, she has a spear, so how the hell did she take off that head? I'd add a knife if I were you. But, all in all, her being "efficient" isn't a very good excuse, and one made even worse by saying "the rest of them look the same, why can't mine?." That's exactly what generic is, baka. If I were drawing her, I'd probably giver her more clothes, like leather pants so that if she falls, rocks won't rip her to shreds.
Also, that spear is way too thick, at most it'll have a 1.5 inch diameter, whereas that looks like a 3 inch one.

Nah I definitely get that she does look generic and I'll admit to it too I just don't like one liner crits, so I appreciate your input. I was thinking about adding a thigh band with a knife attached but my laziness conquered the design which is why it doesn't look well thought out and generic. it probably would have been a better idea to draw leather pants rather than go pantless but I wanted some focus to be on her powerful ass quads. yeah idk thank you for your input though
Also yeah the spear does look thick/heavy. I really liked the look of the item being thick but in practicality she probably wouldn't be able to chuck it well.

hi anon, just a friendly reminder to invert your canvas often, it'll help a lot when looking for symmetrical flaws. i did a trace to show what you could've done with the eyes to make the face look right, but you could also do more with the jaw to make the the face look centered rather than tilted. I believe this would involve raising and making her right eye bigger, however. my trace isn't perfect but i just wanted to give you an idea of what to look out for next time, keep going anon
