it's not about being a newfag
it's about actually using your hamburger brain to put pieces together to form a conclusion
>>2523390

Watch Jiro Dreams of sushi.
>>2523981
I watched that, and I think it really had an effect on how I treated life and my passions.
>>2523981
>>2523984
I watched this, and the main impression I got is that I'd hate to be Jiro. He seems to have no sense of humor. I probably would not enjoy his company.
The same source that recommended it also recommended Bill Cunningham New York. Bill is equally obsessive about his work, but his personality is completely different. He seems much happier than Jiro. I think he's a better role model.

Never heard of that guy or documentary, but I watched the trailer and it looks interesting. Will check it out.
If you dont git gud you're gonna live a life you never wanted to live. Poor and in a job you hate, no friends, in your parents basement and no gf.
>>2524508
Yes. It was an example of an abusive horrible person and how you don't want to approach your artform. It's a great warning against the mentality a lot of /ic/ holds.

You could probably get the it without direct subs, but I couldn't find the individual subbed portions, so sorry.
>>2524518
are those ads? like the kind of ads you see in breaks on tv?
>>2523356
motivation needs to come from within, imo.
Motivation is fleeting.
Discipline is forever.
>>2524654
you generally need motivation build discipline
>>2523356
ANIMU!!!
>>2524654
that is applicable to thought and feeling as well. If you feel like the world is shit, you can use your thoughts and remember a previous time when the world has seemed awesome and just wait it out from the logical standpoint that things are bound to change with time. Even though your feelings tell you that is a total lie and you were just naive in the past, lol.
>>2524627
Yeah
>>2524685
japan is really something
just saw this in my sub box

it's the extreme of what can be a good work mentality. work harder than everyone else but know your limits
i just look at artists that inspire me and try to keep a positive mental attitude to everything i'm doing, and believe that i'm always getting better one day at a time
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rI6q6bv7do
This video gets me pretty motivated because it shows that if you continue to work hard, you will become a good artist.
>>2525731
this was the video that got me to really focus on the fundamentals
>>2523364
>your destination is the journey
woah, I think I just had a revelation
I felt depressed and hopeless about improving my art. Then I had a good fap and drew for the rest of the day with noticeable improvement, turns out all you need is a little build-up release to get those creative juices flowing
>>2523390
He doesn't want to become an accountant? I know I don't
>>2526043
tfw it really helps
>>2526043
WILL DO
I thought fapping killed your motivation tho?
>>2526068
FAP and then go to draw right away
>>2526068
Depends on the person, brother.
In fact I notice I get really depressed, become less productive and have very, very negative thoughts in general if I don't get my afternoon fap
>>2526082
I always take a nice, hot shower after a fap since it gives me time to get my bearings back in place.
I just listen to this song
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfUa4IVRZFI
That's a new cover I just found.

all 3 parts really got me motivated to try harder
I remember i'd come here a lot and it would completely kill my motivation, just a bunch of dipshits. I'd recommend grabbing all the art books you can and then leaving /ic/.
i started drawing from nothing when i was 21 and sucked all the dick and i lost motivation constantly and lost focus and didn't know if i can actually do anything with this. In two years i eventually cobbled together a portfolio that i thought was garbage and sent it to a bunch of school and RISD gave me almost a full scholarship so now im here and i have a good 4 years to get better.
It's ok to fail or lose motivation, i do it all the time, as long as you eventually pick up your shit and do a little more drawing.
>>2529602
To be honest, you don't sound like you've gotten all that far and successful.
>>2529604
Not all, but it's a big step up from being at home working a shit job. For a guy in his 20's it's a big comfort to know i can just do art for the next few years and get better instead of having to be home and continuously disappoint my parents. I get the feeling a lot of other people were or are in the same boat.
I read Berserk everyday. Griffith character is really expiring. All that matters in life is fulfilling your dream at any cost.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4PE2hSqVnk
Not related directly to art, but it's very applicable.
>>2529635
expiring?
