I'm a teenager who wants cash money this summer by painting shit. What is the most lucrative type of painting for a kid with a fair amount of talent? Nudes? Portraits? Houses? (Note: I live in the middle of Connecticut) I've considered doing landscapes live, but my mother told me paintings of people's houses and families are better.
post your work

i would just take a summer job, then spend your free time working on your skills

my girl's little sister draws very accurately. She made great money drawing portraits of hyped up pop culture icons -Neil patrick Harris, the harry potter crew, etc. Painted them "artistically", with weird colors on purpose (her words) and sold them at local comic cons.
if you think you're good enough, give it a shot.
>>2516400
no one will paint for this, you're a beginner and I doubt you have any understanding of how to paint properly yet
if you are very skilled your works will have lots of value, yet they will be very hard to sell. a classmate of mine sold a charcoal/pencil still life for 4000 dollars to a frenchie who somehow got to know his work, but he's sick good. can't say how good he is compared to /ic/ artists because people here are almost exclusively digital though
>>2519672
>noone will pay for this.
Do. Not. Underestimate. Normies.
I've sold worse shit than this. It all depends on your marketing skills, not the quality.
Portraits all the way, if you do then live its even better

Go to Boston, work fast, work realistically, hit the streets, fuck critics, get a vending license. Seems like you may have what it takes. Don't give in to judgement, but your own. Stay based; don't abstract.
>>2519672
post a picture of the 4000 dollars piece?
>>2520112
bad pic, wasn't finished yet
I saw it in person and it was huge, like 2x1.5 meters
>>2521113
LOL what the fuck
where do i find retarded rich frenchies?
>>2521118
France.
>>2521113
Jesus christ, this is bad. He's lucky the skull's there to make it look better, although it clearly never belonged to a human. Cloth is quite good too - but even though >>2516400 is chunkier with less detail, it's still miles better.

you could easily sell your work. Unfortunately I can't help you at all, but people will buy anything. Pic related is some work by one of the more successful painters near where I live, they have a yearly event where local artists put their stuff on show. I believe this one sold.
There was one guy in the early 1900's who would go around painting landscapes of people's houses really noticeably and when they came out to see what the fuck he was doing they mostly felt obligated to buy it.
His stuff isn't actually worth much nowadays because he was incredibly prolific with his scheme and made a zillion of them.
That said, pet portraits. Normies eat that shit up.
>>2521113
is that a baby skull or what?
>>2521113
actual anon you responded to.
The shading is very powerful, masterful maybe? but it's not worth two months salary. your friend must be a great salesman.
>>2521675
>even though >>2516400 is chunkier with less detail, it's still miles better
anon, just no. op can't even grab a brush, mix color, work values or attempt edges. not to say have correct proportions at all. please. I'm not saying my classmate's a top artist, but it's pretty obvious that he had a slight idea about what he was doing and his work is not something anyone could do
>>2522572
he was exposing a lot of his works for an international contest and the frenchie wanted to get the biggest work and was saying that the craft deserved a high price, classmate said 4k, frenchie said yeah. classmate had mixed feelings because it took him a lot of work (it was huge) but it wasn't his best

>Random objects on a table...
>A skull
>A tube
>A wonky pear
>The heavy cloth
yep, it's art.
>>2522701
Look at your friend's tube. Look at the shadow it casts inside. I'm having my doubts that anybody would pay money for this. Of course I'M not saying OP's a top artist, but at least his style creates an illusion of skill.
>Mix colour
I wouldn't say that's a powerful argument considering one of these paintings is black and white.
>Correct proportions
Are you kidding? Pic related. Not to mention OP's composition is vastly more aesthetically pleasing - still life isn't just about what looks good on the surface.
>>2516392
ARE YOU ME?
>>2516392
If you can hide your identity and if you can stomach it
furry porn
specifically gay furry porn
>>2516392
It's ok to be underaged on /ic/?
>>2523766
It's not enforced that strictly I don't think. And OP might be 18 or 19. He just said he's a teen.
>>2523766
No, underages are the reason the internet, as a whole, is shit.
>>2523493
Please op, stop shaming yourself
>>2524406
If I was OP your replies would say (OP) next to the id. Take the fucking criticism.
>>2524522
I'm just saying that the more skilled you are, the easier it will be to find potential buyers who will pay higher prices
What's wrong with that?
>>2524489
that's not how 4chan works. you imbecile.
>>2524489
Go back to r*dd*t/t*mblr/f*c*b**k or wherever the fuck you came from
honestly go find a facepaining job at a theme park. don't worry about it being "lucrative" yet just worry about getting better. looks like what you need right now is to focus on brushstrokes and techniques. get a job where you'll be using those techniques daily and you'll improve exponentially.
>>2526776
caricatures are a better market in most theme parks
>>2523493
i think with the jaw gone, the proportions make more sense?
>>2521702
>Set op an easel outside of some rich dude's house on a weeked.
>Wait for them to see your painting
>???
>Profit!
>>2527870
I'm fucking doing this, or stealing their pets and hitching them to a post and painting them. Their eyes get glassy from fear and it looks better on canvas.
>>2516400
Id buy that
