If you want to build a porn based audience, what's the best website to use? Some people told me DeviantArt but I really doubt it.
Well, for starters, Hentai-foundry is probably the best place to post first. They only take what they deem "quality content". If they deny you then you know you're still shit and need to practice. Once you post a few good things, they will greenlist you allowing you to post freely without the go ahead from the mods. The positive of HF is that there isn't a ton of traffic, and the new stuff is posted right on the front page so everyone sees it. If you're good, you'll get followers in no time.
This one is obvious: but tumblr. I recommend doing tumblr after you have a good little following on Hentai-Foundry.
Thirdly, you can always self-promote in the self-promotion threads on 4chan.
Lastly, Deviantart doesn't allow EXTREME nsfw work, but they allow it to a certain extent. Maybe use your Deviant art as a sort of "ad" for your tumblr and Hentai-Foundry where your "real" porn goes.

It all depends, really. Some people have made money with only a couple thousand, but they have really devout "fans". If you really want to stand out you really need a lot of exposure though,. and that will only happen if you deliver quality content fairly consistently. Basically, start your tumblr whenever you want, but don't wait too long. I'd say once you've made some stuff you think is good and have some people who seem to enjoy it.

hahahah i appreciate that, but there are a lot of flaws that need to be fixed on a fundamental level before I get to where I want to be regarding the quality of my work. I look at some of these threads on IC and there are people leagues beyond what I can currently do, and I don't even want recognition until I feel as if I'm in the same category.

the trick is to upload and be active on as many sites as possible without diminishing your own work time - have your own personal portfolio/blog site up and running, make a DA, tumblr, twitter, facebook (yes people follow porn artist on fb, its baffling) and HF accounts, link everything to everything else (this is incredibly important, I've seen examples of artist who are fairly popular yet to navigate their social media networks is a nightmare - shit like many of their monetization options like patreon are linked only on one platform)
if you can bother with extra content go the full mile with livestreams and youtube on top of it too

If you want exposure, you'll need to cast a wide net as >>2508864 suggests. Also take note of the advice in pic related (the bottom post in particular)
If you just want to archive your stuff in an uncensored format, use e-hentai, make your own galleries, let the staff no you're the original artist, and tag them yourself.
